My friend and neighbor, Ralpn Curtis RIP was there too and told me similar stories, he was in a 6x6 waiting to cross the bridge when he heard the war ended, true bravery!!
My Grandfather a member of the 13th armor black cat's form at Camp Bowie In Fort Worth Texas. And train at Camp Beale Mary ville Ca.He H.Q. unit was setup i n the boyhood home of Hitler's. When his unit was taken out of action June 25th 1945 it was on His birthday.
my grandfater was there as well i wish i had an interest of the war/history when he was still alive i could only imagine the stories..... he also gave me before he passed an ss dager he took off of a german officer he killed along with a bunch of german currency and other small items from the war
