Most people Know that cancer can happen to anyone. It's that, it can happen to anyone at any time.A lot of people think that it depends on your age and if you're over 50 and that's not how it works.I don't know what's wrong with doctors or why they continue to say that or why they just recommend you to get mammogram when you're over 40.Probably because of the cost of the test who knows , but they should start testing sooner.... also so sorry for your loss. I was told I had cancer for about ten years when they told me I had six months to live when I was 29. I had been to a doctor every month for over five years asking why I was in so much pain. I finally could afford a chiropractor though I didn’t believe they could help. She gave me a physical (something my doctor never did) and found that I could barely feel my left side. I was in neurology in a week with an MRI of my spine and brain. I was told it was because I was in a rural area. Gaslighting. It’s been about a decade and a half for me. Ultrason can hurt our brest tissues and cause the breakage to get infected, and that cause a lump and many times being wrong diagnosed! The cancer industry needs to really stop profiting from our misery. And yes, we need a public health care system. This way, this greedy will stop misdiagnosed and profits from diseases that should be cured. The squeeze mammogram is unnecessary, but they do so more misdiagnosed can happen. It’s unfortunate that some doctors say “you’re too young”. My sister died at 35 years old of leukemia, my mother at 53 of cervical cancer. My partner keeps being told he is too young to have cancer as well, but he has several different health issues that point in that direction & the insurance company & some of the specialists don’t want to do the tests he needs. I also just read a story about a young woman that died from a stroke just 5 days before she was to finish her residency to become a doctor. Thank you for sharing your story. @@traceykoontz2868 first of all stop bringing politics randomly into areas they don't even belong. But since you decided to, let's just acknowledge that voting blue would kill way more patients (especially young patients like this) due to their push for universal healthcare that will decimate our healthcare system and good doctors and leave people waiting an eternity to get the care they need because they would be at the back of an endless line of people lined up for "free healthcare". So if you actually care please don't vote blue.

I didn't give something else changed also such as insurance for all then we wouldn't have these problems with people dying at a young age you would be diagnosed because you would be going to the doctor because it would be paid for by the United States medical coverage for everybody. I know people are going to ride a lot of crap about it's wrong, you can believe that, but that happens to be why so many people don't get the medical help or any kind of medical coverage that they need which I'm not just talking about I'm also talking about vision hearing teeth because all of your body matters.

There's also an increasing amount of men being diagnosed with breast cancer, and just like with children and young women, people and health care professionals dismiss the signs and symptoms, because those demographics "don't get breast cancer". That might have been the case for children and men 30 years ago, but it has NEVER been true about young women [my ex's mom died in 1981 at 27 after a 3 year battle]. Every type of cancer and even the stages are all different diseases anyway - cancer doesn't equal cancer. By now 1 in 5 [and rising] people worldwide get cancer at least once in their lifetime, so it is a likely cause for many symptoms, and patients are rightfully worried [and not hypochondriac]. So I really don't get that such a large part of the medical community, especially the first line of emergency and family doctors and diagnostic techs, is so stubbornly ignoring recent statistics and still refer to what they learned in school X years ago instead. Because of that it seems that some countries still don't do screening and prevention [like the Netherlands] or referring anything "suspicious" or "inconclusive" immediately for further testing [like the woman in this short. They really said "we could do a biopsy IF YOU WANT" Smh] when it's such a common type of disease. Oncologists on the other hand say that early diagnosis is the most crucial for a good long term outcome, but they only get to see patients after diagnosis by the front line...

It usually takes a decade for hte lump to grow. If you have it detectible at -25 then the cells in you were rapid growing. The rare kind of cells... And no amount of chemo ever wipes them out.

He saw a well known surgeon in our area. That Doctor advised my mom that he had about 2 weeks to live. Take him home, make reservations and take him on a trip. He gave mom a script for pain meds. Before 3 days were over, he got an appt with one of the Top Pediatric Doctors in the country. At Memorial Sloan Kettering. He lost his right leg from his toes up to his groin and lung cancer a few different times. He was in and out of remission several times. Over that time frame of 1968 to 2006 in and out from the hospital. He had his ups and downs . From being given 2 weeks to live to 2005 when he passed away from fluid on the heart and lungs. Don’t give up! I had a small breast cancer lump found overnight when I was 68. It was stage 1a, so no spread. I had a very low oncotype after the lump was tested so didn’t need chemo. I only had 15 days of low dose preventative radiation. That was 5 1/2 years ago. I’m 73 now and completely healthy - no limitations, no medications, very active. You CAN do this!!!

I don't mean to sound crass in any way with my comment, I speak from experience. Husbands and boyfriends are really good at finding lumps and bumps. As a woman, I don't always check my breasts. But having a boyfriend has caught 2 lumps that I would have missed otherwise. That hug saved your life. And no 22 is never too young! Everybody is different. Ive had a FNA- Fine needle aspiration at age 19, and menopause at 38. Go with your own intuition and agency about your body. I am soooo happy you are advocating for young people with breast cancer. If you are at risk for breast cancer, consider getting a breast cancer detection pad. They are on Amazon for about $15, reusable, washable silicone, and they increase your fingertip sensitivity to detect more lumps beneath skin. And anything unusual needs to be discussed with your doctor asap! My cancer was on a hemorrhoid. But I am cancer free 6 years bc I got it checked out fast! Pay attention to your body. You only get one!

Unless it runs in your family, doing a self-examination frequently and getting an opinion on even the smallest of lumps, does help early diagnosis. This is very common in the medical field and as someone who is riddled with some of the most rare conditions, it drives me crazy. I also take care of my brain damaged triplegic mother who had one of the rarest strokes in the world and we were told she was just having a migraine when she’d lost her eyesight and ability to stand (or even sit up on her own). They were ready to discharge her because they just thought she was some feeble old woman when my 68 year old mother at the time had just been climbing a mountain the day before. She spoke 5 languages and was a Pediatric Oncology Nurse for 40 years who told them flat out “I AM HAVING A STROKE!” and just because it didn’t show up on a CT, they didn’t believe her. I had to pay out of pocket for an MRI for them to do more investigation and sure enough, she’d been having a super rare, MASSIVE double stroke for 2 days right under their noses. Had I been concerned with anything other than keeping my mother alive for the next 2 years as she fought for her life, I would’ve sued for medical malpractice, but I didn’t even think about that since I’m all she has and she’s all I have and I was living in the hospital with her, sleeping on a chair for 2 years, learning everything I could about her and her conditions. Since that day, I’ve saved her life 6 times in 6 years and I am so thankful to have my Angel with me still. Unfortunately, she’s the equivalent of a 130 pound infant now (can’t walk, talk, brush her own teeth, in diapers, etc), but she still has her precious personality. She smiles every time I walk into the room and it makes my heart sing. Anyway… doctors, nurses, and paramedics are FAR too full of themselves these days and think they know everything-and it is us who pay the price for that arrogance.

@@SoloClone yes, because staying positive is what we pay doctors millions for over our lifetime. That’s what family and friends are for. Doctors are for medical expertise.

@@PneumaNoose I’m sorry you’ve gone thru a lot but I’m not reading all of that 🤷🏻‍♀️ I am a woman in America with a metabolism so fast, it’s non existent. I’ve also had tests done for my stomach problems and a male dr said I was fine. When in reality I had polyps throughout my stomach lining…. Absolutely doesn’t change the fact of my statement saying that a doctor or nurse telling someone that “you’re 22, I doubt it’s gonna be cancer” or whatever it was she exactly said… IS A CRAZY STATEMENT TO MAKE BEFORE RUNNING ANY TESTS. The second commenter is right. It was meant to be so I understand how crazy that shite was… and I hope she’s doing better. It wasn’t to diminish OTHER people’s experiences with Americas health system or to say that it doesn’t happen when ik it does.

I had a fibroid mass removed from my right breast at 18, the biopsy came back possibly pre- cancerous, that was in 1972. I got a confirmed diagnosis of breast cancer in the same location last year. It's been one hell of a year, take care, let yourself heal, and don't skip the mammograms.

so precancerous cells were present 42 years before the cancer developed?! that’s crazy. did they do anything at the time? wish u a full recovery!

@@fernfunk more than likely she was told that she had fibrocystic breasts ( or "benign painful lumps" like I was told). But never trust that. Bcs I'm beginning to think that fibrocystic breasts means there is a greater risk down the road, and that it should be monitored .. (bcs now I'm going through cancer treatment myself, but thankfully - at least it was caught early) ..

@@Living_On_The_Edge444 I wish you a great recovery. Ty 🙏 I have fibrocystic. Used to be a D now a B. So I always asked for ultrasound bc mam would absolutely be so painful I don't think I'd make it through it. Plus I believe ultrasounds is what smaller breast women need. We were on a yearly check up. But now having Medicare my care is terrible. And since 2020.. I hadn't seen any of my doctors till last yr. Ty for your heart felt story your words touched me and I will push for the test. For some reason since Sunday the pain has been terrible and no matter what I do I cannot keep weight on. I finally just got bloodwork done even checked for anemia. I dont know why dr did a1c and not a mineral or ferritin check. All looked good other than cholesterol. I don't know how that's even possible at 45 yo and 86lbs. Took me a year to go up and maintain those 4 lbs. If western treatment does not help plz seek out eastern care. I'm no doctor obviously but there are plants that work with cancer like red clover and Atlantic white cedar. Mushrooms that help also you can just add to diet. 🙏 I'm so tired of western medicine that I am in herbology school to heal myself from other ailments.
