In this video, I've shared my journey of transitioning to barefoot running and the valuable lessons I've learned along the way. I admitted to my previous misconceptions about gradually increasing shoe minimalism and walking on toes, and explained why these approaches were flawed. I also acknowledged the benefits of grounding that I had initially dismissed.
I've presented an updated five-step plan for transitioning to barefoot running, which includes being barefoot at home, exploring barefoot walking outdoors, using barefoot shoes when necessary, trying off-road barefoot running, and finally transitioning to on-road barefoot running.
By sharing my experiences and newfound knowledge, I hope to help you avoid the mistakes I made and embrace a more natural, injury-free approach to running. Remember, the key is to listen to your body and allow it to adapt gradually to this new way of moving. I am a research methodologist and there is no valid research showing that barefoot shoes are helpful. In fact they’re damaging.
