Think of it like a rechargeable battery. The crow got the eye already charged for a one time use, but when Kakashi uses his MS, he needs to recharge it.

That's not how VISUAL Genjutsu work in the series though. Like with the Amaterasu against Obito thing Itachi did Sasuke looked at Obito's Sharingan before the ability activated. Eye contact is REQUIRED for visual genjutsu. The ONLY exception that has been shown was the Genjutsu Itachi was able to cast by pointing at Naruto in the Gaara Retrieval Arc which has never been explained.

Shisui is half of 1 exception, one of his MS Eyes does not require eye contact but it's super weak and just by being told you're under the genjutsu you will break out of it as shown at the 5 kage summit with Mifune. Even Kamui is no exception, they (Kakashi and Obito) have to maintain EYE CONTACT to suck things up into the dimension. The ONLY exceptions are Shisui's Left eye, and the time Itachi POINTED at Naruto during the kazekage rescue arc in the clone battle and even that only happened because he cast a genjutsu of his own mangekyo pattern on his ring that Naruto just happened to be focused on. So Shisui's eye that Danzo took was obviously the weaker one as Itachi was able to use the crow with Shisuis other eye to break from Kabutos control, how and when did it happen? Mid fight, when Itachi made eye contact with said crow.

Yeah, and even when you look up Koto, it never states that whenever the user uses the ability, their eye closes. It just states the ability itself has a cooldown. I bring up the same question as from before, would this mean, in theory, if he had Susano'o (which there is no reason he wouldn't... but, he died way too early for confirmation) would this mean he wouldn't be able to use Susano'o if the eye transitions back to a 3 tomoe sharingan? I'd still think he could technically still have access to it.

​@ryanbarber6481 it's already been proven in the 4 great war that even if you are blinded in 1 or both eyes, you can still use Susanoo. As long as you have used it before, it's still there. But not every user of mangekeyo, to our knowledge, has been able to or knew how to activate Susanoo.

There literally no difference in hoe they were shown and I'm really confused of why people saying they are. Itachi gave himself a command and thus proforomed it. Donzo likely gave mifunae the command to belive in him and he did that. So there's no difference, it's just a different type of command It's not even stated that Ao or anyone broke the koto. All we see is mifunae asking Ao to check if the koto was gone. You can just argue that donzo deactivated it And the crow would have to come out because it was sealed in Naruto. Not because it needed eye contact

@nonameneeded2943 2 things. 1, Itachi stated himself that the crow was programmed to activate the kotoamatsukami upon seeing Itachi's eyes. Originally supposed to be used on Sasuke, who transplanted Itachi's eyes into himself. Though Kotoamatsukami probably doesn't need eye contact to work, it was those instructions that made the crow act. So you are very right that it worked the same way in that respect. But 2, that does not mean that the theory is any less true. There has never been even 1 example of a mangekeyo ability being the exact same in each eye. It would make sense for them to work differently and give more credence to the idea that it is praised to be the strongest genjutsu in existence, but it makes no sense if somehow if you are aware that it's been done, you can just be found out. It makes zero sense for Shisui to believe that he could do this technique in a large group of Uchiha leaders, and no one would find out. Every last one of them would be able to tell he was under genjutsu. So unless the eyes worked differently, we just have to assume Shisui was just a moron, and I don't think that would be the case. If anything, Danzo would not have tried to adamantly to stop Shisui if he believed it would just be found out. Shisui worked for the root, so they would have instantly associated him with Danzo and the leaf and gone through with their plans. Which Danzo wanted...

@ukyba We have however seen that one of a uchihas ms abilities can be in both eyes. We've seen this with sasuke as he originally only had amatarasu in his left eye but in boruto he's learned to use it in his right. So it just can be the case that he has it in both eyes and also has some unnamed second ability A d yes we can just assume shisui was just a moron. There's literally a plot point of the fact that the koto plan wouldn't work, hence donzo. And I'm confused with your reasoning for saying donzo would have let ot happen. The reason donzo stopped shisui was because he knew it wouldn't work, and also because he wants to make better use with the eye since he wants to be the person who helps the village. Maybe, Or maybe the Greater Kotoamatsukami requires eye contact to rewrite the persons brain. The human eye takes in light like a fiberoptic cable and the brain interprets that signal to take in info. So what if the Greater Koto could be like a genjutsu downloaded into your brain through the optic nerve like a patch to a video game. The reason it can rewrite your personality is that its literally rewiring the brain. Would explain why it might be undetectable as its not even touching the chakra network so much as a physical alteration of the brain through that "data patch"

Well its less likely, then Itachi would have programmed if Sasuke comes into for say 10 meters of radius of Naruto or crow, Koto Amatsukame would activate on Sasuke specifically, which would be easier, The left eye did need to make eye contact, that's why he programmed his own eyes as trigger not Sasuke....

There's nothing that says the itachi one was unbreakable. Just because kabuto can't doesn't mean it is. And for the comparison between their effects, you can just say that because itachi was already aware of what it was going to do, it didn't affect his mind and just his actions

He likely didnt use kotoamatsukami much in hiashi's presence, he probably used it on Hiruzen mainly so that he wouldnt get put in prison for the heinous acts he was committing.

I looked at it more like the Lesser Koto was a fast and easy way of applying a Rank A or Rank S Genjutsu on someone, but its still just a normal Genjutsu and can be dispelled. It would probably have a cool down of maybe twice a month (once per two weeks). Its strong enough to rewrite your personality and all that but still a general genjutsu With the Greater Koto being the big guns. Comparing a pistol to a naval warships cannons. It requires eye contact and had a prolonged cool down (Honestly I think the 10 year is for the bird not for general but I would need to reread those sources) but entirely rewrites the victims chakra network rather than alters it slightly like the lesser does. So that this is not a genjutsu that is easy to see being applied to someone. Its an actual change to their network making the release command virtually pointless as you can't just disrupt it and the network snap back to what it normally is, the normally is state would be what the Greater Koto made it.

This might be true, the reason you can't break Stronger Koto- is bcoz it's not a genjutsu anymore it's you forever changed on someone's will... And it would truly be a god level genjutsu...

It was a move that one could either declare to be clever, or pure BS, because it opens up a _lot_ of questions about _other_ Mangekyo Sharingan wielders failing to do the same thing despite knowing how to do so.

I think it was because Madara was the reincarnation of Indra, and a direct descendant of the Sage. It might be that the requirements of a Rinnegan are limited exclusively to people closest in spirit/chakra to the Sage. That's why Sasuke, another reincarnation of Indra, gets it and why the the space people have them.

Madara only awakened his rinnegan decades after his fight with hashirama so, Danzo probably didn’t have it long enough. Also Madaras chakra was probably closer to hagoromo due to him being a direct Indra reincarnation.

Nah I don't think so. Sasuke went blind pretty fast as well so it wasn't the crows fault, they just overused the power. Maybe using susanoo makes you go blind faster given that the people that used it (itachi, sasuke, madara) were turning blind while shisui who had it since he was around 7 and obito who had it since 13/14 never went blind. Also it's more likely he got sick from the stressful childhood he lived
