Mr Loo was Wrong; The Ringgit has appreciated against his predictions! Malaysia has successfully implemented the nationalistic economic measures, and they have had a significant effect on their currency and their economy.
On top of that, the government seems to be hard set on improving the economy, and seems to be willing to take drastic measures to make sure that it happens. Will these continue to work in the long term?
Find out with Mr Loo in today's video!

I’m a 66 years old retired middle-class malaysian. I used to tell my children & grandchildren back in the 80s how my generation used to frequent shopping in singapore or even in Tokyo. At 20-something we owned BMWs, Alfa Romeos, Fords, Fiats and so on. In Malaysia today only our generation provide financial support to 3 generations - ourselves, to our parents and children. No other generation can beat our sacrifice.

It's not just the sacrifices we made that bore results for our families that are impossible to beat in this day and age. The quality of life was unsurpassable by today's standards. In the 60s the country was thriving and in its prime with zilch racial and religious issues. Those of us who were born before independence could easily testify to that. Now it's a sorry state of affairs with the country continuously on the downward spiral with no end in sight.

I have always shared the same view that Malaysia future will be bright under Anwar and his team leadership. That is the reason why i started to have more of my portfolios built in Malaysia in central areas at unimaginably low prices these few years. However i was often chided by friends for such view as they think Malaysia is beyond salvations. I think only time can tell who would be laughing till the end.

Malaysia in the 70's had one of the strongest currency in Asia. I'm sure it was fantastic. Strong currency, large ample lands, strong govt and lots of resources. Will be much harder to go back to those days, I think given the changing nature of Malaysia's economic and social structure as well as external environment, it's kindda impossible. But, RM strengthening by 20% - 30% is possible in the coming years and Malaysia can position themselves to be like Taiwan of South East Asia. Not a big economy (Can't be considered a superpower or anything close) but, relatively wealthy hovering at US$20,000 - US$25,000 GDP per capita in 10 - 15 years time.

Anwar will be in POWER, supported by the King until the next election in February 2028. The country will improve for the better in coming years. However, l don't think MYR will appreciate alot against the SGD. A lower MYR means will be a blessing to Malaysia' economy, it attract more FDI, support our export, increase trade and attract tourists. After Singapore, is Malaysia. Malaysia GDP per capital is 1.5 (x) times larger than Thailand. 2.5 (x) larger than Indonesia and 4 (×) times larger than the Philippines. After Singapore is Malaysia already in Asean.😊

I think MYR will strenthen a LOT in coming years. Now the biggest hurdle is US interest rate being so high. Once this starts coming down coupled with readiness of Malaysia after government initiatives launched start bearing fruits, you will see more foreign inflows into Malaysia assets as a whole. If Answe can be in power for 10 years, things will look very different for Malaysia then compared to ger current state.

In terms of education, Malaysia is performing admirably within Asia. After the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Malaysia's University of Malaya (UM) is ranked 60th in the world. There are six Malaysian universities among the top 10 in ASEAN. Additionally, Malaysia excels in the realm of private education, with Taylor's University being the top private university in ASEAN according to the QS University rankings. This university advertises itself on billboards as the No. 1 private university in ASEAN. The malaysian ministries never really learn the failure of NEP that benefiting only themselves the elites ruling malays and not us the ordinary citizens In national budget 2024, anwar ibrahim raised another 80 bilion ringgit loan from central bank BNM, injecting new printed money in our economy, in expense of weakening the ringgit further due to increased money supply

Hi Mr Loo, I think the issue of a stronger ringgit is less of a problem for Singapore. The main challenge Singapore face could be the migration of jobs from Singapore to Malaysia due to their much lower cost. I think Mr Loo is still not aware of the deep built-in problems in Malaysia. Some of which are self-inflicted. At the end of WW2, before the British returned to Malaya, the Chinese Communists sought to seize power through violence. That did not succeed and it made the British and the Malay race suspicious and embittered against the Malayan Chinese. At handover of independence on 31 Aug 1957, the British made it a point to leave sweeping powers in the military, police and the Constitution completely 1-sided in favour of Malay race. At the expense of the Chinese and Indians. That fundamental schism fault line has never changed at all even up to June 2024. Mahathir even openly said the Malaysian Constitution never said Malaysia is a multi-racial country. Meaning Malay supremacy. Thus the troubles affecting Malaysia are permanent and there is NO economic improvement at all.

There are many things that are still foreboding. Number one is the Education system. We will not be able to produce a truly educated generation to meet the needs of these companies promising to invest in Malaysia. Look at the exam results - it is laughable if not so tragic. All shine in ugama but fail in English, Maths and Science. In the end these companies will be employing migrant skills to fill the gap. And think of the brain drain. All the able young people need to seek opportunities for higher education overseas because Malaysia has no place for them. They end up migrating. Parents sacrifice their lives and financial security to see their children have better opportunities overseas. Perhaps if these companies open job opportunities, they may return for the sake of their old parents. However if their children suffer the same disadvantages, the pattern will repeat itself.

Much of what Singapore is today can be credited to the never die attitude of personal sacrifice by her citizens working in togetherness under the able leadership of LKY. These two together form the single driver mandatory for the prosperity of the nation. Corruption issues must be done at the high level as well. All the VIPs must not be treated differently from ordinary folks. The government must do away with AP for cars, and 'apponted' middle man for essential goods like rice, beef, veg, etc. In the short run the MYR may strengten a little but not significantly a lot and may not last for very long (depending on the final years leading to the next GE)

This was reported before Malaysia dropped 7 index on the World Economy Competitive ranking, increased cost of operation is one of the major indicator & the scary thing is no corrective action is been declared,RM still remain weak,no new income generator for the country,FDI is lower than of last year & common sense la government pulling out subsidiaries due to lack of income

as a side note, Immigration is a Federal jurisdiction. Johore is state and has NO SAY in immigration. BUT the King of Malaysia is johorean and he has stepped in impressively. Mahathir was the culprit of ALL IMMIGRATION issues.

Malaysia's wild card has always been the government. Now they have a decent and capable person in power and if he can survive the "stabbings", the Malaysian economy should be able to do well. Mr Loo is right in this video.

İt's sure tough to correct and restructure the Malaysian economy with its endemic and systemic corruption that has been practised for decades. Anwar is a very determined and resilient person and very well connected globally within academia, commerce and more importantly respected by many other government leaders. His policies are gaining support locally as indicated by PAS's support for the recent diesel subsidy rationalisation. God willing Malaysia will turn around and be great again under Anwar's enabling leadership.

I look forward to a brighter future for Malaysia. Corruption is the biggest obstacle, in my mind. Economic resource is next, especially the proper utilisation of human resources. You get this situation of the top cream of the university leavers being headhunted to Singapore. Singapore gets these cream for next to nothing. You don't have to "carry" 100 people for 17 years to pick 5 of its best. Don't to be too worried about the cheap buys in Malaysia. We will go there to spend our ringgit in Singapore.

@@tunkulailitunkushahriman3939 I think the parties need to make sure that it is SEEN to be clean, especially when the award of the project is seen to be given to a connected person. However, I know many friends who are personally close to her professionally. From their input, I am very certain of her integrity. As to the rewarding of the project, I do not know enough the intricacies of the project so cannot comment. But I still say, for a public profile person, project allocation must be clean, and seen to be clean. I know people of principle often think "I know I am clean, so I do not need to show to others that I am clean." Sometimes a project award note explaining how they come to a decision will be immensely transparent to the public.

Msian ringgit has been on the slide and falling non-stop since the '98 financial crisis. That's a whopping 26 years !! All other Asian countries recovered not long after that. Worse still those Asian countries that weren't doing well are fast overtaking Msia. The way things are going there's no light at the end of the tunnel for many years to come. Something is seiously wrong here.

Yup, don't jump the gun. It's takes time to adjust well. For the time being, looks like it's going into the right tunnel to the top. History will be rewritten, the disaster and disastrous polices of this 22 yrs administrator, he was the starting point of decay.......total disregard and disruption for sound economical workouts.... more towards big and high self-egoistic projects.... succumbing to many scandals and corruptions...

Down 10 points.. up 3 points.. Then down 12 points.. up 4 points.. Another down 14 points.. up 2 points.. That's not an economic miracle. We call that a downtrend.. a little reversal upwards before continuing downtrend. Drop Base Drop (DBD)

I am not a big fan of Anwar. I think the guy is a populist. But I have to admit that at the very least, not changing PM every few months at least provide some sort of stability. It also looks encouraging with many new investments coming to this country. Also we should bare in mind that the Ringgit has managed to survive eventhough Bank Negara has kept interest rates moderate. We do not have to follow the US ridiculous rate hike speed. Which means there is some sort of stability there. Can't wait for the Fed to cut rates. I believe Ringgit will appreciate when that time comes.

Its the people, the mindset in Malaysia that needs change, the entitled mindsets of the so called bomiputra needs to go and meritoracy and ability needs to be recognize instead of patronage and cronism... let see if Malaysia can transform its society and mindset to truly inspire change, otherwise this will not last as old habits die hard.

Tbh I'm not too sure about what you are saying here. I think you need to dig more info. Current economy in Malaysia is like you take right pocket money and put it into left pocket. Hardly see any solid foreign investment. Many are still jobless. People are still struggling. Currency still not at convincing situation. Moreover Malaysia is on pressure in the geopolitical conflict between US/China and Middle East. But I do hope for the best.
