For "The Thinker" it says : "Here rests Jef Dillen and his spouse" What a remarkable cemetery! I could spend days there. Thank you for bringing us with you!❤
Regarding 'The Thinker' I recently saw something about it and the Mandela Effect, I believe it had to do with the TV show 'Dobbie Gillis' and the positioning/placement of the fist... There's a good YT video titled: The Thinker Mandela Effect Mystery
Dragonflies have lots of meanings and are considered good luck. It also means Spiritual awakening - In some cultures, the appearance of a dragonfly is seen as a sign of spiritual enlightenment, a message from the divine, or a visitation from a departed loved one. Seems thus year I've seen more than usual. I think they are beautiful. Wonderful Cemetery GV ....I love the differences from one country to another as far as monuments, crypts, stones. .ect. It's really interesting. Beautiful Cemetery though I could walk around for hours looking. ❤
That kneeling girl statue was very haunting, just something about it. What a fantastic cemetery. Those birds make very strange sounds or maybe it was just because it was on video. Thanks for the tour!
I love this graveyard. I could wander for hours in there. I love the old photos on the graves, it really helps you get a feel for who they were, that they truly existed. Strange to think that hundreds of years from now they'll be wandering through our graveyards and admiring our gravestones like we're doing today. Excellent video, thank you from the U.S.!
Amazing cemetery!, the statues were so lifelike, the mausoleums were beautiful too. And the old church was so peaceful. Loved the pictures of the departed, that's my favorite part. Thanks for sharing, and I had to laugh when you said that it was so hot that your phone was going to melt😂, anyway thank you for the tour and I hope that you found a nice cool place to relax. Looking forward to more videos. 😀
These crypts and mausoleums are totally awesome! You are correct GV, there are several members of the Belgian Royal family interred in the church. The mausoleum of the Great, great, great grandfather of King Albert was particularly interesting. The crypt of Max the soldier was also very interesting. Great walking tour, thank you very much GV. Have a great day. 😊
Europe is so much older than America and that is shown so much in its funerary arts and locations. I am envious of the places you get to visit. The history alone is compelling. The beauty is a bonus.
While it's true Europe is much older than the US. Check out Hope Cemetery in Barre, Vermont. They're are many brilliant granite and marble memorials in it.
It’s so interesting how everything’s on a tilt, so you can see it all. The picture portraits are a charming touch. Such interesting differences. I was going to say that reminded me of Paris, too, then you said it. 😊 Thanks, GV this was such a treat. 💚💚💚💚
Wow!! That's one HUGE cemetery!! It would probably take a few days to do an in-depth tour!! Thanks for taking us with you on your Belgian adventure, GV!! XXXX 💞💙💕👏👍❤🤗
The young soldier statue both saddening & breathtaking. That must have cost a fortune ! Just stunning, what a tribute to the young lad. 🙏. Looking forward to seeing more. Thanks for sharing. ❤
I have never seen statuary like what you showed us. I was so moved. Especially Max- it’s like he was really there. And it was over 109 years old. Another thing that got to me was the crypt of the great great great grandfather of the king of Belgium incredible life like statue but such a notable person. It’s a surprise it hasn’t been kept up better and this was so incredible. Thank you.
Monsieur George said HI from the grave @ 3:36 . I love watching your videos as i get to hear many EVPs with my own ears, they speak really clearly. Love the cemetary walks with history .
Hello GV, Loved this video. The stained-glass windows and the photos of the people buried there just amazing. Keep traveling. Be safe cheers Jean Crosby Nashville TN USA
Spellbounding wonderful cemetary and video. The graves are similar but each has a story and then you come along and see one that's extraordinary. Thanx GV, great walk through.❤😊❤😊
From the web: "Max Pelgrims was just 24 when he died on 19 August 1914. The German army had invaded Belgium just two weeks earlier. Max was one of thousands who rushed to defend the country. He died outside the town of Aarschot covering the retreating army. His parents, Eugène and Léonie, were devastated by the loss. They decided to put up a monument in memory of their son. It was created by the sculptor Ernest Salu in his workshop at the entrance to Laeken Cemetery in Brussels. It shows the soldier lying on the stone monument, one leg hanging over the edge. The bronze figure is wearing his army coat, laced boots and shoulder bag. He could almost be asleep. The Belgian soldiers who died in the war would eventually be buried in identical graves. But there are a small number of individual tombs, mainly from the early months of the war, before people realised the massive scale of the conflict. The parents, when they died, were buried under the same monument they had made for their son. Eugène in 1927. Léonie twenty years later. It is one of the most beautiful monuments in Laeken Cemetery."
Thankyou for that research..it’s such a sad grave, and of course nobody then knew the enormity of the losses of young men yet to come..tragic and a lesson it was hoped all would have learnt from, but sadly still today it seems not. I’m pleased to know his parents are both laid to rest with him…having lost a son of my own not much older than Max, I can well understand the pain his parents felt. You never expect your children to pass before you do, and it seems he was their only son. Such amazing attention to detail, the sculptor deserved a medal in a way for his remarkable achievement - it just looks like Max is having a rest..! Many thanks again.Godbless you. 🌹💕🙏
What a gorgeous cemetery...those statues are a work of art... they look so realistic. I bet that church smelled old..I love the smell of an old church...the atmosphere...Great video, thankyou
Fantastic monuments and statues..My favourite was Max rest in peace young man..Thanks for a beautiful walkabout GV..Go and have a iced tea now and cool down 😎 Sending you love from London ❤
Stay as cool as you are able. I love this cemetary...so many interesting monuments, mausoleums and burials. So beautiful and nicely kept. Nothing disturbing, vandalized or disrespectful at all. I love the photos on porcelain. To think that companies still make them really makes me happy.
That's a beautiful place. So many beautiful old gravestones to see. And it's so peaceful there. Loved the tour of this cemetery, thank you GV for posting this.🩷 I love your video's.....

O! Huge bug ! 6:52 to the left . Scared me . O ! Thanks for another great walk thR . 💚 being able to touch history let alone see such beautiful unique art .
Thank you so much for sharing this. I would never have been able to visit this place. I enjoy the adventures you bring to us, what it would be to learn a little little bit about everyone in this cemetery. To learn a bit of each individual soul, how they were how they lived , who they were, , very amazing. Thank you so much for sharing.
What an incredible place! It is so well kept. I can't believe we are above where we were below before last time. I am amazed. Love the porcelain pictures. I really like the injured soldier on his cemetery plot - so real, so sad. The Catheral looked so old yet in fine condition. Loved all of it Cathal! Great video! ♥️☘️ I ended up watching this three times!
The stone work in this cemetery is absolutely beautiful. I would love to walk around there and see everything I could see. Thanks for taking me to places I will never get to go.❤❤❤
It is a shame that they don't clean and repair the graves. The old graves would look stunning all done back up. What a beautiful cemetery. Thank you for showing us these wonderful and beautiful cemeteries
Photographs and statues are so touching! But that photo of the woman with eyes! Wow. I wish I could actually see a resting place so beautiful, thankyou.
This is a very beautiful graveyard 🙏. Thank you for showing us all some of the intricate graves. The soldier lying on top of the grave was beautiful but also very sad. Thank you from Indiana ♥️
Beautiful graveyard, well kept grounds. Your tours are always filled with information and you obviously do your research before heading to your destination. Thanks for another great video. You would make a great tour guide. Well done GV.
beautiful cemetery ❤ I'm more the type that loves to look at monuments and old photos . a peek at tge coffins ⚰ are cool but not always important to me . such a gorgeous place Brussels 😍 thanks for showing us around GV
What a fantastic cemetery, I like the pictures of the families, and people who are buried there, thanks GV for the walk through this cemetery, especially because it was so hot ❤
Hi GV Steve from England What a wonderful place to be buried in very exstavicant, I wouldn't want to walk around at night. It's nice to see photos of the people who are buried. Marvellous looking church, There have been some money spent there. Out standing sculptures of people .Great video GV. Loved it
What amazes me is how beautiful these mausoleums are. And most are left alone. Unlike the US where some people get enjoyment knocking over gravestones. You never see graveyards like this here. I have strong roots in Scotland, Ireland and Great Britain. I would love to be buried or my ashes scattered on the Isle of Skye . My youngest granddaughter’s middle name is Skye after her Scottish heritage. Thank you for these wonderful videos ❤️🙏
Thanks GV! Another great video! As far as the royal tombs, they don't allow video, supposedly, however, I have seen both picture and video presentations of the area. One thing about the royal tombs, is there are many small rooms off to the sides where there are many other lower ranking royals, but the caskets are still wonderful to see! That is a strange arrangement, where they have graves and mausoleums above ground, but the bodies are interred in the underground crypts and vaults. But it is only where they have the underground areas, and where there isn't an underground area, then they are regular graves and mausoleums!
Videos of this type attract for two reasons . One is the history and the other the amazing elements of the funerary statuary and grave stones . Videos like this are full of information about our ancestors ,famous people and the hard working folks who built the different places in the world and its peaceful as well .
What a fantastic upload, the quality of the filming, the chat in between the graves makes it up close and personal, a truly wonderful effort I enjoyed this so much I’ve subscribed all the best to you from Scotland 🏴
Another great video. Wish I could go there for a month just to use my scooter looking around. Then of course the evening for diner to look around the town. Thank you for sharing. Kind Regards, Angela
