You completely missed the point of Miorine's response in the final episode. Her issue was with the fact that Suletta was smiling joyfully immediately after crushing a person as opposed to having a natural reaction to killing someone in such a brutal manner. The response from Miorine was appropriate for any person with a moral compass because it isn't normal or healthy to be unphased or even joyouse following such an event. Suletta showed no reluctance to kill and no regard for human life beyond the people she knew personally. The issue was not merely that Suletta killed someone.

I think Suletta being unfazed is because she’s too focused on saving Miorine life and is glad to see her.

I was also a newbie in the Gundam franchise and knew only that it was about politics, giant robots and character going through trauma. I personally really liked this anime . The prologue episode really managed to hook me, however, i wasn't disturbed by the school setting of the first episode. Mostly because this is the reason I decided to actually look up the anime. The scriptwriter of the show is the person behind the Utena light novel adaptation and a lot of elements especially in the first episode are direct reference to Utena. The anime manage to take a lot of elements and thematical points from Utena and do it own thing with it by mixing it with the Gundam universe. For the rest of the season, I found it pretty good, it mostly felt like set-up for the final and the second part which is why a lot of elements are not too developed or rely on interpretation in my opinion. Even do I don't necessarily agree, I do understand most of the point you bring up. The only elements I don't egree with is the last scene. Miorine does not call Suretta a murderer because she killed someone. It's all about the context. The way Suretta says "stop" when crushing the guy is almost playful, the way the line is delivered is almost comedic. She then proced to get out of her meca with a big smile, trip and fall in a pool of blood, have small laugh and continue to smile. She does not reflect or is scared of what she's done. She killed someone and she takes it lightly. This is why Miorine calls her a murderer, not because she killed someone but because of how she she act when doing it. That's also why I like Suretta stuttering, it characterize the character through her voice but also make you understand in scene like this when she suddenly does not stutter, that there is something wrong with Suretta.

I think it's interesting how people interpret the same thing differently. See, when Suletta killed the one guy to save Miorine, I didn't interpret it as Suletta killing someone and writing it off as nothing and smiling about it, but rather smiling because Miorine was still alive. Also it's cool to know that the LN writer for Utena was involved. I haven't seen it yet but I absolutely plan to

Personally as a big Gundam for years, I think the show so far is good but nothing outright amazing. For an anime meant to be aimed at a newer gen, it does it's job done. For the disagreements though, I actually relate to Suletta since we are both shy especially in that one episode when she thought her friends didn't treat her like one. It makes sense given that she was isolated and only communicated with people in Mercury (short story released in the same time as the first episode). As for the infamous splat scene, I think it makes more sense because Suletta is completely unfazed that she just splattered a whole person which seemed so uncharacteristic hence why Miorine is afraid not to mention that we see earlier that her mother essentially brainwashed her. Also, the anime was literally announced to have a school setting so it doesn't really come as a surprise to me. By the way, I should note that the writer for the series wrote Valrave which this show shares some elements with so everything was familiar with me (and WFM is the better show so far) not to mention the anime you mentioned Code Geass so expect it to be like those shows down the road. To end things off, I think Guil has the most character development besides the two "couple" with plenty of episodes focusing on him. Besides all of that though, I do agree with everything you said.

I guess I missed the announcement of it taking place in a school. I actually didn't know this was even an airing anime until I had watched a Gigguk video where he mentions the Witch From Mercury. It only had like 3 or 4 episodes left by that time. As for the splat scene, I had a different interpretation of what went on. I feel like more people can understand or relate to it from Miorine's perspective instead of Suletta. With Suletta, I believe she saw it as a way of helping a friend out and wanting to be kind and friendly which is not uncharacteristic of her personality. I think the end of the prologue episode was a bit strange since it was almost the same situation but I wrote it off as Suletta being too young to understand the gravity of the situation. I wanted to tie both scenes together in my script but wasn't really able to find a way to since I processed the ending differently than I did the prologue.

I just realized that in my script, I read the anime name as "Witch of Mercury" instead of "Witch From Mercury." Apologies for getting the name wrong lmao

At 8:35 I address this. "Since most of that wasn’t elaborated on further, I’m hoping that season 2 will give us more of an explanation about her situation as well as being an overall better written season." I'm aware lmao

@Sable Symphony you were just complaining early in the vid about a lot of stuff not being expanded upon as if this was already a full series. Which with you later acknowledging that the series isn't finished makes those arguments seem disingenuous since those things will likey be expanded upon in later seasons. Also with the things you listed as liking you'd probably like most gundam series. So you should check out more.

@Billy the Narwhal I'm terrible at explaining my thoughts so I guess I'll fix here what was an oversight in my script. 86 isn't a complete series either but it was able to have satisfactory explanations on what went on in each part. By the end of part 1 alone, I was left with more answers than questions. I'd be okay with 86 not continuing past part 2. Same applies to Code Geass except it's complete. The Witch From Mercury left too many questions unanswered in comparison. It could also just be that the Witch From Mercury has a style of writing that I'm not a fan of.

@Sable Symphony I'm pretty sure WFM is introducing threads to expand upon them later, rather than starting threads to fully explore them one by one. If you're not a fan of that style of writing I retract my suggestion of other gundam series.

@@billythenarwhal1579 as fans we can see where a lot of this is going. They stated they know nothing about gundam, and WFM s1 really did have bad pacing. No matter how much they set up... its still set up and unless you can convince someone its worth it to stick around, well its sadly meaningless even if it is paid off down the line. Im excited for what s2 could bring but there were far too many pointless scenes and episodes to the grander narrative that I don't blame anyone for dropping it. Its the same issue I have with the MHA anime. A quick festival chapter is 3 of the 12 eps in a season. I still think the best thing for the series would've been what kshatrya did to the school in unicorn ep 1 😂
