I must say as someone who used to watch these as a young girl, the thing that stuck with me most over the years is how in the Rapunzel one Gothel looks and sounds terrifying. Props to Anjelica Huston for being amazing with the role. Still scares the crap outta me all these years later. Outside of that I loved a lot of these! Thanks for doing this!
What I liked about the older Barbie movies is the fact that they actually looked like dolls. Modern Barbie movies just have them animated like in a general animated film. Does that make sense?
Some barbie movies have no business being that ridiculously good . I watched them last year and a lot of them are just not good but I was blown away at points.

Just so happy you liked barbie princess charm school. It’s my all time favorite barbie movie. The storyline is great, the music is fantastic and it still holds up to these days.

Barbie Princess and the Pauper is the golden standard of Barbie movies. I don't think Mattel will *ever* make another animated movie in the likes of it. The animation is actually quite good for the year it was made in, the story has elements that make it unique even if it's based on an existing novel, the characters have individuality, the sidekicks are perfect and, my god, the songs. Mattel tried it to emulate it by literally ripping off its own movie when they made Princess and the Popstar, but regardless of what people say, that one can't reach the level of its predecessor.

I wouldn't say they ripped it off with the popstar movie! I actually really enjoyed that one. Obviously the original is better and can't be beat, but the songs and story in the popstar one are quite good, too. It's a modern take on the original. And it's not like they copied the original entirely. The bare bones are the same, but they're pretty different otherwise (and the "to be a princess/popstar" song slaps! Again it can't beat the original but it's still pretty good!).
Giving Barbie™️: The Princess and the Popstar a 5 out of 10 is criminal. The sound track of that movie is the best I’ve ever seen and the original musical numbers rival those of works like Hamilton and Mamma mia. This is a great injustice that cannot go unpunished! I collected the animated Barbie movies as a little girl up until movie 12 (Mariposa), but the first 4 will always be my favorites. The 12 Dancing Princesses is another one I'm especially fond of, even if I'm not as nostalgic for it because at the time I was starting to grow out of my Barbie phase.
I remembered in high school, we are free to use our TV to watch movies during our free time. The girls wanted to watch Barbie movies, so the guys started complaining. Halfway through the movie, the guys were more focused on the movie than we are, some of them even stopped playing with their phones just to watch, like damn, that was the funniest and most memorable part of my high school.
Honestly id watch any Barbie movie than watching Marvel movies if im at school. Reason being is that i wont watch it anywhere else so might as well watch it then and there. The only ones I'd watch are the Barbie movies I've watched when i was younger

I have done Barbie marathons as an adult, I would do them in university while I studied or homework, I have about 30 on them in dvd and I would just put one, let the credits roll, watch all the extra bonus stuff in the dvd and next dvd, for days straight. I was indeed doing something else and would turn around from time to time to watch like a favorite scene or song. I stopped keeping up with the Barbie movies with like the very last row he shows, in my head not about princesses so boring 😅 puppy adventure, missed birthday, babysitting whatever, the last ones just don’t do it for me. The newest generation themes are just meh I want pink glitter princess explosion on my face! But you’ve inspired me, I will do a Barbie marathon this year again. I used to do it a few times a year 😂

Barbie changed after three musketeers because of the conflict with Disney. Mattel was afraid that if they continued to make princess movies, the movies would be canceled like Bela Sleeping Beauty 2009 (Mattel).. The couple of main screenwriters of the films left and Mattel went through a dark phase
I've thought about this, but why did they also get to do Ever After High not too long after that? Was there a clause where only Barbie could not do anymore princessy movies? I know they had to tone it down with EAH once they lost the rights to the Disney Princess franchise to Hasbro (which Mattel eventually got back) as well as Decedents becoming a thing.
This is mind blowing for me because as a little kid waiting for these movies to come out, I remember noticing the same thing! The quality after the three musketeers changed and I couldn't pinpoint out how or what changed (let alone why). Thank you for sharing this!
I don’t know why, but I found this beyond hilarious. My 13 year old son is your biggest fan, so I pulled this up and watched it with him. I’ve been feeling particularly morose lately with a lot of stressful things going on, but I literally laughed until I cried when I watched this. Thank you!

Aka painting and having an overly active imagination, that is sometimes overwhelming. 👁👁 I can't help to have a kingdome hearts style daydream while joging. Also Low key I swear the Villan Mother Gothal was creepy as heck. Especially the lady playing her was Morticia Addams. And the game for rapunzel, the part where the castle was all grey and it had dreamt music. As a kid it was scarier than fnaf 1, mk. It just was bc I could feel like something could have jump scared me. Though tbh now as an adult it is not as scary but still very good at being aminous. Like if that was the while music for the game, it would be spooky.
Swan lake, Magic of the Pegasis, Mermaidia, 12 dancing princesses, Magic of the rainbow, Island Princess, Mariposa, Diamond Castle, Fashion Fairy Tale, A fairy secret, Mermaid tale 2, Secret door are all the ones I grew up with. And I think are some of the best in the series too. The bloopers after barbie movies where the BEST thing to happen in the franchise though.
I credit Princess and the Pauper for making me obsessed with musicals as a kid, to the point where I felt upset whenever a movie (Barbie or not) wasn't a musical. Those songs were such effective storytelling tools (on top of just being bangers) that they permanently rewired my brain. Constantly replaying that film's soundtrack as a kid is easily the most I've ever listened to a single album, and now I'm an adult who follows Broadway news and who spends way too much of my very limited income on live theater tickets
I loved barbie swanlake movie it was one of my favorite barbie movies. My mom actually have a video of me dancing infront of the tv to the credit song to the movie when I was like five or something lol
I know right? Literally the only problem with this video is that he rated Barbie spy squad a 4 when it’s clearly a 10 but the rest of the video makes up for that.

Barbie’s Diary is cooooooool. It’s unique in term of narrative style and the music is nice. That’s probably my fav Barbie movie so I have to help and redress bruh
Barbie charm school was my childhood, no bad memories there (other than the fact the girls made full uniforms out of literal scraps but eh it's Barbie she can do whatever she wants) and when Liam kept saying how great it was it brought back hoards of memories, my favourite Barbie movie (I haven't seen many)
