this movie scared the shit out of me as a kid and i didnt watch it again until i was like 15 and it's still kind of uncomfortable but i really like the style of of it now. this movie is actually based off of the Coraline novel by Neil Gaiman and when he was getting it published he was told by his literary agent that it was too scary for kids and so he asked if she would be willing to read it to her daughters and see if they liked it and so she did and she said that her daughters loved it and so it was published and then he met one of the girls several years later and asked her about it and she was like "oh i was terrified but i needed to know what happened next so nobody knew" so yes this is in fact probably not a great idea for children but we have it anyway because a little girl was invested in the story lmao

I loved this movie when I was young!! I know that this studio also did a stop motion movie called “Paranorman”. I don’t really remember the movie well, but it was certainly about monsters and ghosts and stuff, so maybe it could be fun to watch! 🤷♂️(Oh and they also did “Kubo and the two strings” has sum scary moments too, but def not as scary as coraline)
This movie has always been my favorite. Something about it feels so nostalgic and dreamlike, this movie was one of the happiest moments I experienced growing up in my house. People say that this movie is creepy but I think that everything is just so beautiful, me and my sister were always trying to find a little secret door in our house after this. This movie made me feel like I was a normal child, and I grew up watching horror movies so maybe that would describe why this never creeped me out. But out of all of the horror films, the grudge scared me for years. No movie seems scary anymore though because of the quality of most old movies that we thought were once good, coraline just seems like it never ages. That's what I like about clay animation is that you can't go wrong with crappy cgi or things like that.
I was like seven or eight around the movie came out. I had saw on the commercial and begged my mom to buy one dvd. Let’s just say I was disturbed and in love with the movie and still to this day I watch it religiously lol.
Kubo and the two strings is another really great stop motion film from the same studio that did Coraline!! It’s not as scary throughout the whole thing but there are definitely some haunting parts and the animation is well worth the watch!!

So glad you reacted to Coraline! I didn’t see Coraline until I was an adult, but I think I would have loved/been terrified of it as a kid. I always wonder if kids who love movies like this grow up to be horror fans. Growing up I was obsessed with Are You Afraid of the Dark and Goosebumps. Those were my first experiences with the horror genre even though they were obviously not super scary since they were aimed at kids. I wonder if Coraline was that for people who were kids when it came out?
Coraline scared me more than a lot of actual horror movies!!! The first time i watched it I was up all night thinking about that spider lady and her scary fingers tryna get me!!!!!
Watching Coraline and ParaNorman is a must on every Halloween. I love these movies, they're suppose to be kids movies but they're pretty damn dark for kids movies.

Aww, you chose Coraline and I'm so happy. I love this movie. I really enjoyed the animation and it really creeped me out. This came out when I was 18 and I'm not a fan of spiders and the "other mother" freaked me out. Also, I found your channel through Zzavid and I adore his ratchet and wretched sense of humor.
Int he book the other mother first swore on her mother's grave before swearing on her right hand that she'd let them all go if Coraline won (she still died anyhow). She explained that she did have a mother. "I dug her grave myself and put her in it myself. And when she tried to climb out I put her right back in.".

Obvs it’s just a theory and nothing confirmed but there’s a few videos on it. a lot stating how she never actually leaves through the door she just sleeps there and wakes up in a illusion of the normal world each night she sleeps she’s goes deeper and deeper. and the kids say once you enter the other world you never see your real mother again stuff like that
I don’t think so bc the other mother couldn’t create anything other than the house and what the doll has seen. I do think she sent people to spy on Coraline when she didn’t carry the doll around anymore, like that creepy smiling woman staring at her through the window in the store scene.
I remember Watching this movie in the movie theatres when I was Wayyy to little and it was my first exposure to any scary type media and it absolutely did damage to my development like it was wayyy too scary psychological fore.
If you want to watch a feel good romcom musical, you should definitely check out the movie Enchanted! It’s basically a mix of all the Disney princesses but set in the real world.

looking forward to that Ready Or Not reaction 👀 i was expecting it to be straight up horror but ended up laughing more than expected in the matter of horror animation i really recommend Corpse Bride and James And The Giant Peach (the latter one absolutely terrified me s a kid). also, it isnt animated but it has some great puppeteering work, and it is iconic, so i really hope someday u might check it out? Little Shop Of Horrors, a musical that helped the composer and writer get a job making disneys The Little Mermaid back in the 80s

I recommend watching the Coraline playlists by Czs World and The Theorizer here on youtube. They go over all the details and timelines of the story, which opens your eyes to alot of things. Like the other mother having a 4th victim that escaped besides Coraline, and that she even had a son when she was alive.

I love this movie! The book is also excellent in a very different way (it's much more understated and eerie). The author, Neil Gaiman, narrated the audiobook. Highly recommend! The movie *9* has similar creepy vibes to this one imo. Another good watch!
This movie scares the crap out of me to this day. I was in my mid 20s when it came out and it gave me nightmares that night. Seeing it in 3D is even worse. I'm shocked people let their kids watch it. If you want to watch another scary animated kids film, I recommend "ParaNorman". It's done by the same studio as this film.
Biggest mistake i did was watching this with my mother. She would always reference this movie when lecturing me “ stop wanting what everyone else have, what they have might seem good but might turn out to be worse than what you have”. Good movie tho! Another movie i think you may like even though it’s not horror is crazy rich asians💕
Other mother made the other father and other wybie to be a father and friend to Coraline. But she made them too well - they really do love Coraline like a daughter and a friend.
