I Watched Disney’s *MONSTERS UNIVERSITY* For The FIRST Time And Felt Like I Was Back In College! 

NO WAY ITS ONE MINUTE IN AND U CAME AFTER MY HEIGHT!?

The librarian and the dean are legitimately two of the few monsters who could've actually given me nightmares as a kid

I like this movie's more realistic message: sometimes, no matter how much you work for it, your life project just won't go as you planned it. And that's okay.

This movie was such a perfect backstory on how Mike and Sully meant and were able to become successful even if they didn't complete they still went strong on getting a career. had a great message in the movie.

7:50 that's a reference to Boo in the first movie! Her file says she's afraid of snakes. That's why Randall was her monster. And when she saw Sulley roar, she cried instead of screaming.

I love how when OK won the last Scare Games test, Hardscrabble was almost unimpressed about it. But when Mike and Sully literally made the door blow up by scaring a lot of adults, she was genuinely speechless. She knows true potential when she sees it.

I’m at university right now, and I can honestly say that this movie is very accurate.

I relate to Mike in this film very much. When pursuing my goal of becoming an animator via college, I was told that I wouldn’t be able to succeed in earning my bachelor’s degree, by the dean no less. After getting my AA and transferring to another school, I built myself up through many endeavors and earned my BA as Summa Cum Laude, thus proving that I have succeeded!

This movie came out when I was in middle school and I remember really liking it, but when I watched it again like right after high school the argument/discussion with Mike and Sully in the human world hit HARD. It's got such important lines in it that really need to be heard by so many people. Another awesome reaction M.I.D.!!

"Don't be that kid only studying in college, go live a little!" You didn't have to insult me like that

Mike may not be the best scarer, but he's the kind of coach I want He looks like he has seen Full Metal Jacket a decent amount of times

I really love the message of this film where there's always another path to your career if you can't get the one you'd want. For me, I want to become a film director, but if I don't have the skills for that, then I can find something else I can do, like camera work or editing.

The drumlines for this movie was FIRE, always get me hyped up when i hear them! 💙

My favorite fun fact is that Squishee is voiced by the same dude who voiced Sox in Lightyear, Miles' roommate in Across the Spider-Verse and directed The Good Dinosaur and Elemental

This movie is soooooo underrated. It's along the same vein as Soul, when they remind you just because your life doesn't go the way you planned, doesn’t make everything you went through is worthless.

I always love trying to find out what movie Pixar might have based their movies on. Monsters University is very much Animal House coded, with some Revenge of the Nerds sprinkled in. Cars is Doc Hollywood. And A Bug's Life has some Seven Samurai/The Magnificent Seven influence.

I really like how this adds more weight to Mike taking over the energy generating at the end of the original. He's not scary, but he can make kids laugh, and it turns out that's worth more.

The best part about this prequel is that it makes the ending of Monsters Inc even better. Mike always wanted to work there but never could because he wasn't scary. But when the company changed to laughs, he must've been the star.

One thing that isn't told directly is how in the first movie, hes always squinting, bc he doesn't have his glasses. But the messages in this movie is phenomenal. Most movies are a "happy ending", where the main characters "win" no matter what, where this movie is more realistic about achieving goals.

the only issue i have about this continuity wise is the mere fact that mike said that they knew each other since the fourth grade in movie one ("you've been jealous of my looks since the fourth grade, pal") but for some odd reason they met in university. also if my college experience isn't like this then i don't want it (im literally leaving in a week)

I love this movie! All other stories go and achieve your dreams no matter the odds. But this movie is really the only one like If you don’t achieve your dreams that’s ok, and it’s ok to give up when you know it’s not within your ability to do so, and probably healthier. The point is that it’s ok to fail, and it’s not the end of the world. Mike is not a scarer but a great coach and leader. I saw one video on here that this movie could be used as a good allegory for disability, and as an autistic person I completely agree.

I prefer this by far over MInc. A message like this is so rare in the animated kids/family genre: You might not be able to achieve your dreams, but if you fail you can still find a way to live a satisfying life that suits you. The boiling water that hardens the egg softens the potato.

Movie is a bit of a sleeper. No idea why so many feel down on it. It's really good. The soundtrack goes hard... some really solid messages in it. And the twist of ending up stuck in the human world... the shift in colors AND to what at the time was the most realistic looking animation we'd ever seen... was downright straight from a horror film. And the Dean... terrifying. She reminds me of the first professor Elle Woods gets in Legally Blonde who is a hard ass to get you to be as good as you can be... her little bit admitting to the two of them that they really are very good, the both of them, is great. They earned her respect even if she can't let them stay, and I love that.

I feel so old, this movie came out 10 years ago. I remember seeing this in the drive in. Now I’m 18 and just graduated high school. 21:45 good point, the reason why they added him was because they needed John Ratzenburger to play a part 😂

I remember having this movie on Blu-Ray, and I thought it was a good movie, but it wasn’t good as the first Monsters Inc. Even though it’s actually a prequel instead of a sequel, it’s not awful. It’s actually good enough.
