I know A LOT of y’all are gonna hate that I’m reacting to this.. but idgaf 😂. I don’t care about fandoms, that will be irrelevant to my experience with this Anime. I won’t pay attention to toxicity.
It's funny cause motivational shit like this and Rocky are almost garunteed to make me well up/cry over most sad things. But when I see someone get their dreams like Deku at the end of episode 2. That validation he's been craving his WHOLE life and by none other than HIS hero the #1 hero DAMN it makes my heart swell everytime!
Absolutely right. There are a lot of things that are not very good with MHA but character development is something that MHA does far better than a lot of the popular animes out there.
Yeah a lot of anime does that, my hero isn't something new. The majority reason why this anime is enjoyed by a lot is because it's a high school of super heroes in training which is a cool concept and the story is actually decent. That's basically it.
When people like Deku say All Might "looks so different in person" it's actually a gag that didn't really get translated from the manga. He's saying "He's even drawn different!" referencing that All Might has a design that stands out with bold lines and dark eyes and is American-style basically (intentionally). The joke is a fourth-wall break so I really love it.
I love how nick jokes so much but he still is one of the few reactors thats able to listen and actually understand these characters and their thought processes.
That's legit, I don't watch him for his reactions... I actually watch him for his humour, sarcasm and jokes which sets him apart from a lot of reaction channels in RU-vid
Nick, I appreciate that you were able to understand Izuku's feelings and understand why he's such a crybaby, most of the fandom hates on him because he seems like a weak protag, but given his life up until the start it makes sense why he's like that. I think you'll really like the series and hope you continue with it.
He is a weak protag at the beggining, but that's how shonen works, you got a weak protag that gets stronger and stronger as the anime goes, Deku is super weak at the beggining but ends up being the strongest character in the anime, and stops crying completely, in later seasons it's very rare to see Deku cry

In my honest opinion, I respect the HELL out of Izuku because he can ACTUALLY express and acknowledge his feelings, even after the hell he's been through his whole life. He's been the target of most of his Quirkist world's discrimination most of his life, his best (and only) friend abandoned him, his hero AND his mother let him down, but he NEVER turned to hatred. He could have become another Shigaraki Tomura. He could even have become like Todoroki Shouto, closed off emotionally from everyone and everything. But he didn't. That takes a whole other kind of guts. For traumatized people, emoting can be REALLY hard. THAT's why he's one of my favorite anime characters.
Honestly I love people being able to understand Izuku. But Izuku is still a very complex character. The one a lot of people miss and fail to understand is Bakugo. One reactor I know who really understands Bakugo is "AliciaxLife"

Nick, I can't tell you how happy i am that you're finally watching this show; as someone who really feels and loves the emotions anime want their audience to feel, you're gonna absolutely love it. I'm very very similar to you in the sense that I love being made to really *feel* stuff when watching anime, and for that reason this show holds a very special place in my heart; I was 14 and the most depressed I've ever been when I watched this show for the first time, and Deku was the biggest inspiration for me during that time of my life. Relating to him so much, and seeing him grow and develop despite how hard things have been and still are for him, and how vulnerable and 'weak' he is, legit helped me out of the rut I never saw myself getting out of. I even owe it to his character that I found the confidence and will in myself to actually make friends in my early years of Highschool, and those people are now still my best friends even after we graduated. He also showed me that it's okay to wear your heart on your sleeve like I do, and being like that doesn’t make you weak. The series really does hit the feels man, and even though it has a bad wrap because of the online fandom, there are so many fans who found the inspiration and recognition they desperately needed, to build the strength to move forward. It helped me and multiple of my friends feel heard, seen, and understood, in ways that we never thought we would be. And it helped us believe that we are capable of great things in our hearts despite all of the hate we may have given ourselves and received from others. Obviously not everyone is gonna have that experience with the show, but that's just why me and my friends love it as much as we do, and I really do think you'll appreciate it too; even just the music in the show as you get further in is enough to make me cry 😂 Can't wait to see what you think of it dude, been waiting for this ever since your reaction to the OST cos I knew you'd love it (Shutting up now, soz for the damn essay)

Ppl literally forget this boy is literally 16 yrs old and has so much stress on him (increasing in next seasons by miles). I know I’m tired of hearing people call him that while ignoring the lifetime of depression and bullying he was basically going through in regards to his dream. It’s like ‘Sorry we’re trying to give a somewhat realistic version of a person who went through all of this.’ 😩 I think people are just too used to other Shonen main characters that they don’t like the change Izuku brings in his character at first in the series.

Deku is bad writing. Everything else about the show is fine. No, it is not because he cries all the time, It's because he doesn't earn anything. He is a Mary Sue that gets everything he needs when it's convenient. It is not fair to go into details about it here because of spoilers, but the vestiges and their powers was just poorly thought out and every corner that could be cut was. Also, we get Deku's character, we can still dislike him, just like people got Bakugo's character but disliked him, but 6 seasons in, most people adore Bakugo now and still feel meh about Deku. Deku even says at one point that he shouldn't be the protagonist of his own show, lol.

@@rhrendy7 it really isnt ass, It's a solid 8/10 for anyone who actually pays attention the story and characters. Ignoring the animes season 5 it would 8/10, manga is 9/10 for sure.
Actually one of the main things I really liked about the show when I first watched it was the fact that Deku cries so often. It just makes him feel so honest and real, even if a lot of people don't cry as easily as him in real life. It also makes his success even more motivational, showing that you can sometimes be emotional, and still be strong at other times (or even at the same time :P).
Even i connected with deku for the same reason, but i don't know what happened mid journey, I just stop caring about the characters and felt no connection to the show and eventually dropped it
FINALLY. MHA is the first anime I ever saw, and I hold it close to my heart. I hope you enjoy it for what it is and are honest about it. *edit* I'm so glad you actually understood why he was crying and fully immersed yourself into the story. "bingchiling city" 😭😭😭 Also I love the mentality you have that not many people who watch anime do. It's those people that make up toxic fandoms. idk how far you actually are in mha if you already have patreon vids up but I personally got into mha pretty young and as I grew and matured the show did as well and that makes it very dear to me. It starts off playful, kind of kiddy at times, but then slowly morphs into much darker topics as our main characters grow and mature and personally I love that about mha.
Deku is one of those anime characters I can relate to. He is determine to reach for his dream yet he is still a human. He feels, he bleeds, he cries, he sometimes gets depressed, and he is still young. He is not invincible. He gets hurt too, always. That's what I like about him... he is relatable. A lot of 'fans' want the main character to be so cool nobody can touch them. That's not Deku, though. He is awkward yet humble and kind. Too kind for the world he lives in. And I like him that way.
So happy to see you watching MHA. At this point the toxic side of the fandom is a pretty vocal minority, there’s still a lot of nice and chill peeps in the community. But obviously the best bet I’d say is to just keep your distance and experience the series with an open mind! Happy watching, I’m excited to see this journey!

Izuku is written “出久” in Kanji, which can be read “Deku” because Even the same Kanji can be read many different ways. The word “Deku” (or Deku no bo) has a negative meaning of a useless person. So Kacchan calls him Deku.

29:08 I will tell you Bakugo's character development is very easy to miss because of his tone whenever he speaks so as you watch the later seasons pay attention to some of his lines
He pisses me off. His character development was so botched. Doesn't help that every other character is unrealistically forgiving about everything he ever does. To the point where it's ridiculous. And he's never punished for anything he's done. All he gets is a metaphorical slap on the wrist. It's so pathetic to look at.

But this is a fictional world built upon a society of quirks and Heros and Villains, bullying becomes much more forgivable when you're not using your quirk for evil but actually aspire to be a Hero. Hero society; despite it's reputation, is corrupt. Inherently favoring those who are strong, especially if their occupation is being a Hero. Bakugou doesn't just get a metaphorical slap on the wrist either. His punishment for his earlier bullying is being humbled and out-paced by Midoriya, and that is more than satisfying enough for the average viewer. Him getting detention or expelled wouldn't be a gratifying way to explore his and Midoriya's relationship. Again, this isn't real life, it's a world built on quirks and the strife that causes to it's characters. If you had even the slightest lick of understanding of what is required to write compelling storytelling, you wouldn't be so pissed off. Your version would bore the daylights out of everyone.
When I first got into anime, MHA was my first ever anime I ever watched. If it wasn’t for this show, I wouldn’t be watching anime. So to see you react to this fills me with weird nostalgia 😅
This anime/story gives the BEST emotional justification for feeling hope and yearning to live up to a better individual. The OST has MASTERED the art of filling your heart with that zeal for heroic success. Looking forward to more of your reactions to this great show!
This was one of your best videos in a while, IMHO. My Hero has its flaws, sure, but it has a gigantic and powerful heart, and you can already feel it here. This first (two-part) episode is one of the greatest beginnings in the anime world, it's just so perfect, specially with the epic emotional music. The soundtrack is AMAZING, and it really examines what it means to be a hero (and a villain) in a society that constantly tries to define and separate those concepts. MHA tends to explore and challenge a lot of anime and superhero tropes (which ruffles a lot of feathers), but it is such a gorgeous story with so much heart. You're in for a hell of a ride.
This show just goes up and up. There are a few stale areas every now and then, but I think that’s the same with every anime. If you decide to make the journey to season 6, then stick with it. It gets fantastic.
mha is an amazing story, and i'm very excited to see how you react to it. i definitely recommend reading the manga too, it makes the whole experience so much fuller and includes a lot of details that the anime skips over. regardless, very happy you didn't listen to the warnings about the fandom :D edit: omfg i'm so glad you understand deku's character a little already, with him crying and all that :D

It's time. Just before watching this, let me say that if you eventually don't like the next few seasons and stuff, it's completely normal to not like something. I too think that the newer seasons need a bit of rework, but if you eventually drop the series, I completely respect your decision...just make sure to watch the best scenes on stream or something else because some scenes are SO PEAK

My Hero Academia was the first anime I ever watched in Japanese. It was my gateway to the world of anime. Maybe my opinion about it has changed over time, but I still consider it a amazing anime.

It might be a little bit slow and the main events are limited but it’s really comedic and enjoyable at the other times. Idk about the fandom but this anime is amazing!!

My brief opinion about My Hero Academia: Season 1. 8.5/10 Season 2. 9/10 Season 3. 9/10 Season 4. 8/10 Season 5. 6.5/10 Season 6. 9/10 In general, I would give My Hero Academia 8.5/10.
Season 1 was also good but the show was not able to engage the public till season 4 and 5. I personally didn't even like season 6. I mean starting was good , ending part was boring and there are 5 to 6 episode in middle which I liked but the rest were boring.
This anime fr made me fight for getting into my dream university, and I did! Everytime I’m feeling with no motivation or think I’ll never be as good as others I rewatch the first episodes LMAO I even carry a mini Deku keychain in my pencil case AHAHSH
I love this series and it has done so much to help me be positive and confident throughout the years so know that this show is special to me and a lot of people around the world so I hope you enjoy it to just like us. Btw if possible check out the dub for the show it’s actually really Good and is universally praised as one of the better English dubs in recent memory. just as good as the the sub
I watched around 3 season back then when the third one came out and I liked it. A month ago I rewatched the same first 3 seasons I have to say this show is really really good. So much better than in my memory. It’s insane how a show like this has one of the worst fandoms I’ve ever seen on the internet while also receiving hate 24/7. Midorya isn’t as deep and complex as Light Yagami… so what? He serves his purpose and its entertaining enough for me to enjoy ever swingle one of his action packed moments. It’s a good show. Especially the first season is pretty much perfect. Oh and I don’t get how that horrible fandom even came up with all the characters fking each other while being hardcore gay. Again, I’ve seen the first half of the show twice by now and there isn’t even a single frame that suggest stuff like that. I don’t get it.

I will say that Horikoshi is an amazing writer, but you can tell that his brilliant idea was these first two episodes and he wrote the rest just because he had a good anime concept in his hands. Not like Isayama, whose brilliant idea was the entire AoT anime. And Horikoshi is not as good at winging it as Oda for One Piece either. But I’d say there are still a lot of tearjerking moments in MHA, so be ready for that

If all it took for someone to not listen to a song, or watch a series, or an anime was the fandom i assure you no one would be watching nothing, all fandoms are at the very least 70% toxic on certain things
