I Travelled to Arnhem, Netherlands to watch the derby day between Vitesse & NEC Nijmegen.... it was CRAZY! Follow My Socials 👇 Instagram - / fusion_josh Twitter - / fusionjosh_ TikTok - / fusionjosh
The greek restaurant Rhodos that you see on 2:43 is a restaurant where many Vitesse players came till 2018 when it changed ownership. The former owner Jorgos is well known among Vitesse players and supporters. His restaurant was a place where many players ate, for example many foreign players who needed some company and didn't understand the language came there a lot to chat and meet people, but als Theo Janssen, who is Vitesse's cult hero, is a real Arnhemmer, and was playing many seasons for the club, was a often seen guest. He is best friends with Jorgos and came there almost every day. A real Vitesse restaurant! Very funny that it's so prominent in the background there. You don't often see a restaurant and a football club linked so close together because of players and supporters.
As someone who lives near Nijmegen and loves that city, it is still sad to see the state of the 'rival' towns club. Mostly for the fans. I do dislike Vitesse because of their rise funded first by public money and later criminal money, but I've never hated the fans. And while I do hate how Vitesse has been run/funded for many years I do find it sad they are in such big trouble now. And I really hope especially for the fans that the club will survive. Even the big NEC fans will mourn it in time if it folds. Part of the magic of football is the derbies. I really hope a healthy rivalry can return in the future and all this hate can fuck off. Just like as a Feyenoord fan it is great to see them beat Ajax but I do hope they get their shit together and come back strong in time. But not too strong to beat. And by the way, this channel got featured in an article in the local newspaper (online at least) De Gelderlander so you might see some more traffic soon.
Great vid! Although tough pronunciation on Nijmegen there 😅 IJ is how dutchies write Y. So it's just pronounced 'Ny-megen'. Sad to see how Vitesse has fallen down. Keep up the content!
Pretty crazy he doesnt know. As we all have van Nistelrooij, van Hooijdonk and CRUIJFF. Where everything was translated to Cruyff etc. So how can you say Niegmegen or something......
Thanks for visiting my club. Unfortunately, we are getting relegated this year but our main concern is... will the club still exist next year? Tough times for us fans

Nice video! Im happy Vit*sse will be relegated after this season, but its sad to see them go bankrupt. Its a shame you couldnt make it to Nijmegen when the match was over, because the scenes at our stadium when the players arrived were mental. On the 21st of April we will be playing in the finals of the Dutch cup and since you love tifo’s and atmosphere so much, I don’t think you would want to miss out on this one 😉. Greetings from Nijmegen, the true number one of Gelderland. ❤️💚
Been watching your vid's since your content was mostly Brighton-stuff, it's my FM go to club and really got into them and visited the Seagulls in their first season in the PL. You were watching with your dad and celebrating the promotion (missed the title on 1 point wasn't it?) and now you have been at my club NEC and now these beautiful images of these sods attacking a banner 😂😂😂 keep it up mate
Such a good video! As a Vitesse supporter I love how you've really shown the passion we got for our club, even though everyone says we are not passionate. You've proved them wrong in the 2 video's you've made about us this season. Feel free to come back to Arnhem, also in the 2nd division!💛🖤
Please visit Groningen against Roda it could be the deciding Match for Direct promotion! Also if they promote maybe visiting the “huldiging” would be cool!
@fushionjosh, with your passion for Dutch football, and the upcoming play-offs for promotion / relegation. You should definitely make a video about our “period” winners. There is no other country in the world that uses this system but it’s a really great thing about ducth football.
a shame you did not conclude the singing at the end. although we lost we still song our own clubsong out loud. We just love Vitesse💛🖤. Thank you though for this beautifull video because finally people see Vitesse in a good way!
Nice vlog Josh! I'm the guy in the White away jersey (on the left) in front of you. Just leaving you a comment because it was really fun to have you sit behind us and talk to you about our beautiful football Club Vitesse Arnhem. Hope you'll come back someday when there are better times, perhaps next year you could visit another local derby day against our neighbours from the east. p.s. Apologies for the sad atmosphere at the end, but currently our club is experiencing a lot of turmoil and it feels like everything that can go wrong is also actually going wrong. That other local derby day would be: Vitesse Arnhem vs De Graafschap (Doetinchem)
Vitese had a good atmosphere its a shame they lost a home game in the derby. But i just saw the highlights of my favourite dutch team ajax Amsterdam getting trashed in the derby against feyenoord Rotterdam yesterday its embarrassing
Sad to see a half empty stadion like the Gelredome... I think Vitesse had it best days before going to the Gelredome, which is a long time ago. The stadium was too expensive for the club and they needed to sell it but of course they had finacial set back because of that. I think they never really recoverd from it. Initial the stadium was supposed to be a lot bigger. The concrete corners weren't supposed to be there in the first place. Imagine what it would look like! But they proababy were to ambitious. While I am no Vitesse supporter, I hope they get saved. And Arnhem is my favourite city in the Netherlands so...
Helaas een te grote broek aan gehad, in basis een middelmaat volksclub verpakt in een te groot stadion en een geschiedenis met vage bestuurders. Jammer voor de ca 50k supporters uit de stad en omgeving die er al jaren komen.
3:31 The spanner in the away end says "zonder supporters geen voetbal" which means: no football without supporters. You literally say it after showing the away end and you couldn't be more right. What a shame.
It's not a dick, don't take it that hard ;). Om nog maar te zwijgen over mensen die niet eens de naam van een stad uit willen spreken omdat daar een andere club vandaan komt, heel sneu eigenlijk, zelfs een kleuter reageert beter.
What makes this even better is NEC hopped over 020, made possible by Feijenoord beating the snot out of that scum. Thanks, NEC, for making that Sunday even better! 😁😁😁
It looks like it wasn't difficult for you to get a ticket 😂 Even on derby day they can't sell all the tickets for the fanatic stand. And look at all the empty seets in the rest of the stadium. Too bad you didn't visit the derby in Nijmegen. The stadium is packed and there is a better atmosphere. Cheers from Nijmegen
“Always empty” that’s total bollocks. there are more fans in that stadium than fit in most other eredivisie-stadiums. It’s just some negative stigma that Vitesse has no fans. Even in a terrible season with EVERYTHING going wrong for us, we have hit 18k fans inside the stadium many times. The stadium is just too big for us. Also, ticket sales have been cut TWO WEEKS before the game, AND there were multiple restrictions from the get go, such as only being able to get only 1 extra ticket per season ticket/fan card.
This video shows one of the big issues with Vitesse. Their loaded game against their rival, Gelredome is a fairly small stadium, but look at the sides, it's 50-75% empty, in what is THE game of the year for them. Football doesn't live in Arnhem outside the hardcore stand you were in, their stadium only fills when Vitesse does well (what we call success supporters), which they haven't been doing for a long time. No filled stadium = less income every match. One of the reasons they are going bankrupt really.
