I guess, and I have no problem saying maybe i just didn't have enough size and/or talent to do so, but as a starting Wk side LB for 13 years ( also played FB on O) , if I ever too, my helmet offon the field, and I am not benched, injured, or being told to do so to by a coach to cool down or whatever reason from him...... if i just had my helmet off on that field... id be benched and/or injured after doing so. Im 5'9" --》5'10" i weighed 185lbs ran a 4.6 --》4.68 40 and maxed my bench at 265 (bar, 4 plates and two sets of tens) and my squat max was 515 (65lb bar, 10plates, 5 on either side ) mind you this was my peak. I still will say i never believed i was " so amazing and such a standout player " that i "deserved and earned" a scholarship in any way. Im mostly just pointing out the atmosphere of the game has changed drastically throughout the years.
