VoicePlay: breaking all our brains for breakfast since 1997 😁I enjoyed the absolute heck out of this! I love watching reactors who know music as much as I enjoy the ones who love music. You get both in one, it's twice the fun. And no harm in asking questions or pausing; for the one, how else are people supposed to learn, and for the other, if I want to watch/listen to the song uninterrupted I'll go show VoicePlay some love and watch the original on their channel. You're doing a fantastic job! Edit: I am on their Patreon, and it's really cool.

Yes, I’m a Voiceplay patron. (And Geoff and Pattycake Productions, Layne’s production company with former Voiceplay baritone Tony Wakim). They give the best percs! One I particularly like is that Voiceplay opens a video feed during some of their shoots. All the guys and Kathy come over to talk and sometimes carry the laptop around the studio to give us better views of things. I especially like the shoots where Geoff or Eli are in charge. Since he doesn’t have the responsibility, filmmaker Layne turns off and the fun, silly Layne takes over! Those shoots are SO much fun for the patrons. On this shoot, Layne was obsessed with something he found on site in the refrigerator. (Not saying any more. You’ll have to subscribe and watch the replay to find out!)

Here ya go: Geoff (long hair + bass voice) Eli (beard + bald, most likely to pop off with a rock vocal) Omar Cesar (beard + lots of hair) Layne (beatboxer) I have something called face blindness ; I struggle to recognize faces at all, so I have to ID people other ways. As much as I’ve watched these boys, they’d be able to walk past me and I’d never notice. But should any of them speak a syllable, I’d have them. And Cesar, Omar and Eli seem to have a thing for challenging themselves on the high note. They hit the high in “Dream On” much the same way….and that one, I think, is higher. If you watch any other reactors, I’d recommend Peter Barber and Mortius. They’re my faves. You need to join their paetron for a month or so, just to watch a bunch of the behind the scenes videos and see how they work/think.

First, since you did ask, Layne's eyes (beatboxer) are not purple. Those ARE contacts. VoicePlay has a real love/hate relationship with contacts. Most of them are terrible at putting them in, yet they keep deciding to use them. Everyone here is wearing them. Next, you did get Geoff, Eli, Omar correct. After Omar comes Cesar and then Layne. Layne's beats in this are just so 'fire'! Space Shanty becomes a real bop! Great fun! And I love the blank white ending. Feels as if the song is them all dreaming together in the cryogenic sleep.

The members names and parts were just under the arrangement section in the description. The visual was synced with the audio. We heard Geoff say go back to just before Omar's solo, and watched the visual go backwards. Everyone was brilliant, of course, but Layne is the MVP. I especially loved that Uh Oh moment!

The guys have at least one colored contact lens. Omar is in the middle, Eli (bald rock tenor) is next to Geoff, Cesar (wears a mohawk often) is next to Layne. This video has a sea shanty vibe which isn't that far out when you are traveling in space. I think some of the backgrounds may be processed from the Hubble and Webb images and shown on one of the high res LED screens. Most of us fans agree with Geoff's bass is the best. Geoff had help on arranging this one - Rob Dietz who did arrangement for We're Good.

In all the videos that are out, you should see Geoff, Layne (beatboxer) and Eli (bald rock god). They lost an original member, Earl with an incredibly focused high tenor, back in 2020. So you will see him in most of their older videos. They’ve had personnel changes since they’ve been performing professionally since 1997. Originally before they started recording videos, Layne was the baritone but switched to beatboxing when the beatboxer pursued an acting career. That left the baritone slot open and it’s the one that has had the most changes. From around 2010 to 2017, Tony Wakim with the most beautiful sparkling eyes and well groomed eyebrows was the baritone. He is still close to the group, as many of their videos are filmed at PattyCake Productions, the production studio that he and Layne co-own. When he left, J None joined and was with them until 2021 when he was recruited by the US Navy to sing with them. He still comes back frequently as a featured artist. Since he’s moved to the East Coast we see a lot more of him. He’s got a beautiful old-school R&B soul voice. That is when Cesar de la Rosa joined. Cesar has a lovely breathy baritone-tenor although he keeps reaching for the stars lately and has achieved a D6 in their cover of Lion Sleeps Tonight. He is usually the most animated of them all and flirts outrageously with the camera. That leaves them one permanent member short and they fill it in with a variety of guest artists. Usually, but not always, they place the guest artist in the center position. The guest for this was Omar Cardona who is Cesar’s bestie and occasional roommate. He has a beautiful clear tenor. I hope that helps a little. It can be confusing especially when you start out because they keep showing up with new artists and frequently have on makeup or weird looking masks. You have Geoff down. Generally, unless he is being featured as the obvious lead, he will be at one end of the group and Layne , the beatboxer will be at the other. Now if you concentrate on Eli (pronounced Ellie - shirt for Eliezer) the bald rock God tenor, and Cesar with all the hair you’ll have the permanent members down unless you go back to older videos. In the last several years if you go to the bottom of their description they’ll list everybody who’s active in that particular production, including where they’re located if it’s a special studio like this one. If they need additional make up they’ll list the make up artist (usually Rick Underwood from PattyCake Productions). They will always list the arranger. The person who does the arrangement is responsible for the whole show pretty much. They are responsible for coming up with the arrangement, venue, costumes, make up if necessary, the video, the video edit and the initial sound edit. The lighting and digital backgrounds if used are generally provided by Eli. They send it off to Ed Boyer for a final polish who is the king of mixers for a cappella. He also does a lot of the mixing for Pentatonix and Home Free, among others. To see Omar again, watch Dragonborn/Skyrim and Dream On. To see performances with Cesar and J both in the group, check out Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters and Phil Collins In the Air Tonight. If you go back before 2017, you’ll see Tony.

As for Patreon The insanity and shenanigans in the bts alone are worth the price of admission. Chats, karaoke tracks, poll silliness and mp3s are just icing on the cake.

6:30 Believe it or not, he actually used chest voice for that G1 (and every single other that followed). He can sing down to F1 in his chest register and only needs to use subs below that, though he'll often use subs for F1 and F#1 too and can even produce subharmonics as high as D2. Geoff do be a monster like that 😄

At least you had pants on. 😅😂 Don't worry you'll look back on this time and wish it never ended. Break a leg.

One more thing I forgot to mention. Cesar will roll his eyes back when he is about to give us the highest note out of them all at the end . Cesar is the one to keep your eyes on so you don't miss any of his playful expressions . He is a force to be reckoned with.

This cover is absolute fire. Layne is a beatboxing beast in this one, and Eli, Omar and Cesar are extraordinary. And Geoff with those low notes and that rich texture to his voice, just wow. I have heard this song described as a space shanty, and I think it fits perfectly. Great reaction!

**Psst... should we tell him?** you hear that Jaws theme? Yeah, that is me and the other VP followers coming. 1-2 thousand is a slow week... and this song was NOT a slow week. I pays my money to watch it early, then am watching reactors break until the next one goes live. I know I am not the only one either. Now, from screen left we have the Dragon Himself, Geoff Castellucci, Rock Diva Eli, bronze metal on the Voice, Omar Cardona, the cuddly hidden gem Cesaer, and, on screen right, the human audio mixer, Layne Stein. Not shown today is semi-permanant member, presently serving with the US Navy, J. None. This one was filmed in a full 360 digital surround LED soundstage with graphics from a variety of sources, including Hubble and Webb according to people who know the images. The contacts are especially entertaining, since Geoff and Layne both have very sensitive eyes... we know they pay for it later.

Line up here is Geoff (bass), Eli (Little bald rock god) , Omar (guest with angeiic voice and baby face), Cesar (just think loads of hair) , Layne (vocal percussion.). Hope that helps. It's filmed in a studio which has a huge LED screen to film in front of. No green screen. I think they filmed Valhalla Calling there too. And don't you love that little sweet section from Layne? Eli can go high but nowadays its often Cesar going high, even whistle notes (as in Dream On, and Lion Sleeps Tonight.) . And your reaction is fine. Who needs boring? :) At least you don't gurn at us or try to sing along out of tune. Can't help you with those names, I haven't heard them spoken. I remember the movie Fiddler on the Roof and loved it.

You should react to other songs from Warframe! Especially some of the other covers, and even more especially Colm McGuinness's covers of several of the songs :) And (I guess spoilers for the game) two of them are designed to fit together, so I made a video of those two of his covers combined, and I think they work together even better than the original two songs!

That first low note wasn't a subharmonic. It was in chest voice. He can hit D1 in chest now.

Yep. The boys really brought their A game on this one. True, Geoff's low notes are pure gold. And is it weird that the background reminds me of some of the backgrounds they used to use on American Idol? It's created some awkward encounters, let me tell you! Other people have answered, so I won't bother, except to say that J. None, a member currently on "reverse leave" singing with the Navy, is the handsome African American gentleman with the soulful voice, from videos like "Valhalla Calling" and "Nothing Else Matters" and "Hellfire."
