On our last day in San Juan del Sur, I took a stroll down the main street that goes along the beach and ended up at the town's gym, located in the northern part of San Juan. The gym itself is basic but it has everything that you need to stay in shape: there is no air conditioning but with a view of the beach and the thatched roof above the machines you can't go wrong! Since there is very little humidity in that part of Nicaragua, a simple breeze is enough.
Later, Helen and I walked along the main road going out of San Juan in our quest to find a Pali, the only store that resembled a supermarket at the time... (January 2024). La Colonia opened a store in San Juan a few months later. On our way to the Pali market, we passed through a neighbourhood where locals live: there are no bars, fancy hotels or restaurants there, only simple village houses.
