G'day mate, you will find more gold I'm sure, the old miners thought it wasn't rich enough but today prices of gold changes all that, good mine you have found, cheers, Neil 🤠.
They also didn't have modern power tools. For a hobbiest an angle grinder with diamond cutting wheels and a rotary hammer make light work of hard rock veins. Cut yourself a lip, then crack it off with the rotary hammer. Rinse and repeat until you have a bucket full of ore. It's what I do
I'm unfamiliar with Australian Geology, but you should consider looking for gold in greenstone or other rocks. The gold mine might have had higher grade outside of the quartz. I'm from Northern Ontario Canada, lots of gold mines here. Many are from faults filled quartz&gold. But many are from Greenstone, and other mineralizations. I personally have found many greenstone rocks with gold flakes, and have had lab assays at 7grams per ton on rocks that were found less than 4 feet from surface. I have a little vial filled with gold flakes that came off when breaking the greenstone open (not even crushing properly, just hammering).
Holy crap dude! Better work that location and then post the episode. That was some great looking fresh jagged gold. I’m excited to see more results from this endeavor. Best of luck.
You gotta make a long video of you going there but instead of only breaking off a bucket full then take it out comback to speed up the process you should break off a big pile at once then when you're ready to leave can easily fill your buckets up and take them out dump them come go quicker and you can maximize your time to get it all before someone else gets it from you
