Oh wow so sad seeing how much the Ghibli museum cafe has changed since pre-Covid. They used fine china and silver cutlery when I visited in 2019. Hopefully they bring back that kind of atmosphere that truly gave the whole experience that “ghibli aesthetic”

24:13 - thanks to this video, I was able to make a reservation for the Kirby Café in May! I actually picked the wrong date at first, and then when I went back in literally a minute or two later to try again, almost ALL the time slots were taken - except for a handful, like six or seven - but thankfully, one of those was precisely for the time and date that I originally intended to! So when I got the confirmation emails, I made extra sure to cancel the first one. Phew, glad it all worked out. Thanks again for all the information here!

Waiting 5 hours for a cafe with mediocre food sounds like a gag they’d do on nichijou tbh. They really gave you the authentic nichijou experience.

When I lived in Japan, I went to the Pompompurin cafe myself and it was so much fun! I also went by myself and the staff asked me if I was alone and when I said yes, they sat a HUGE Pompompurin across from me so I wouldn't feel lonely. I went when I had just arrived in Japan and was still a little uncomfortable and I think they saw that. It was great!

the ghibli cafe was so cute. it looked so cozy and I loved the atmosphere and the atmosphere of the surrounding city. not like I’m biased because I love every ghibli movie and haven’t really watched any of the other ones here, excepting the Sanrio characters, Kirby, and Pokémon.

What I loved about the Kirbo cafe, and I'm surprised this wasn't shown, is that the entrance has a big Kirbo and Waddle Dee plush in front of a big dish on a wall. Customers can take pics with the cafe's themed big spoon and fork. And to the side are smaller Caf'e Kirbos waiting to serve ya.

Things I learned this video: A brunch of cool cafes with cute themes and food items. Things I also learned in this video: Emily has the stomach of a child and can rarely finish a meal. Just order off the kids meal you dingus! Smaller portions.

Whenever I get an anxiety attack at night, I listen to Emily’s Café videos because Emily’s voice brings me comfort for some reason.

I can already tell that your drawing skills improved heavily, Emiri. It looked so good! I also didn't mind the cute/shojou cafe stuff. I enjoy those too. As for me? There's is truly only one cafe/restaurant I ever wanna go to in Japan. And thats the Kamen Rider The Diner. :3

As a guy I would be too shy to go to the cuter places by myself, but I would wholeheartedly unironically enjoy going to them with friends. Seems like some super cozy atmospheres even if I don’t know most of the things being referenced 😊

For people who don’t know much about Kirby, the car-mouth cake is actually an item at the waddle Dee cafe in Kirby and the forgotten land, which I think is really cool!

I love how you include quite a bit of Japanese! It’s really cool and helpful for practicing, plus your videos are just very entertaining in general.

Everyone absolutely must listen to the soundtracks for the Kirby Cafe. Sadly, they got taken down from youtube but you can find them online elsewhere very easily. The madlads somehow remixed a dark, dire boss theme for an eldritch abomination of a final boss fallen angel into something super chill and relaxing for the soundtrack, 10/10 please listen to the soundtrack!

I live in a very rural, non-culturally diverse, extremely conservative Christian area, and watching your video is really reminding me of my adventures going to Kinokuniya back at home and being able to find fellow anime fans anywhere. This is making me want to start a go fund me to just create an anime shop right in the middle of the small country town I live in XD oh how I miss this experience!

I was randomly recommended this video. Super happy I clicked. Your tone and voice are soothing, and I like how you describe everything. It was a nice comment about how the Pokemon cafe flavors are geared toward children. That is a super sweet consideration! Never been to Japan but I've always wanted to go to anime cafes, knowing I'll be over charged for the character themed items. I guess I'll have to try several out to find something yummy... my guess is it's like Disney. Cute, on theme, expensive but you might find something worth snacking on.

I was just thinking you seemed to prefer sweetness in refreshing beverages when you notice the same thing about yourself! As someone who is lactose-intolerant, I enjoy vicariously experiencing most of these cafes - nice to look at, but limited in what I can consume (lactase pills are a last option for me, since I don’t eat dairy due to inflammatory problems).

I went to the Pokémon cafe and I legit expected it to not be so good but we all finished all the food and left satisfied. I didn’t even expect to like it since most reviews say it isn’t the best but we all liked it 🤷‍♀️

It makes me kinda happy that Nichijou's cafe has such a large crowd, since I heard that anime was underappreciated in Japan

i see the point of going to themed cafes (or themed anything) and the price point for them to be just that experience. kinda like going to a casino, you’re not honestly gonna get what you pay for on paper. but the experience, vibes, fun stuff to see and do is the whole point really. and that’s what the cost is for. similar to theme/amusement parks

I NEED to go to the Kirby Cafe at least once in my life, and yes I will but just about everything from the merch store. Also the Pompom one was a very clean and cute aesthetic even though Mocha is my favorite sandrio character. I'd love to go to a fruits basket themed one as well but idk if they have and specifically for that. The straw hat Cafe definitely looks like a place Luffy would devour lol

Love this kind of content. Please dont stop making these. I went to the Ghibli museum. I was one of the first ones in and still couldn't get in at the cafe. There was a little hotdog stand next to it which I had to settle for.

the way I was unable to focus in the fruits basket cafe portion of the video because I was tearing up from the 'for fruits basket' instrumental/lofi playing in the background,u had to hit us furuba supremacists right in the feels huh🥲♥

A note of warning: The $10 price tag of the Ghibli Museum may have a big asterisk next to it. Admittedly, I haven't been there since 2016 (despite the fact that I've lived within walking distance of it since 2020!), so the pricing may have changed by now... but back in 2016, it was only $10 if you were a Japanese resident. If you were a tourist visiting Japan (as my friends and I were at the time), it was nearly 8x that price. And while it would be a fantastic museum for 1100 yen or whatever the price is for residents, it was a slight letdown for the 8000+ yen we were forced to pay. Still a worthwhile experience, but the price-gouging for foreign tourists was borderline offensive. I HOPE that's no longer the case in 2022, especially with the borders opened back up again, but I felt it was worth noting, at least, in case it is.

OMG Arina Tanemura cafe?! Full Moon was my first manga ever, before I even knew what that was, and she sparked my deep dive into art, the way I draw hair is still greatly inspired by her style. So happy to know her works are still being recognized and celebrated XD

People dont expect character cafes to taste good, but what if there was a shokugeki no soma cafe? Like thats a cooking anime so would the food be actually good?

I went to a One Piece cafe and aside from everything in site being themed after it, the food was some of the best I've had in my life.
