That's not Godzilla but the turtle Gamera. You can tell by his fangs. Congrads on getting some more great comics too! I always thought when Marvel did the Electro and Shocker. They should of merged the characters. Kept Electro's identity and origin. But used the Shocker's name and costume instead. Since Electro's name is pretty lame/aged and silly as well as his costume. I bought X-MEN #60 off my local Mom & Pop's corner store wall rack when I was seven years old. I always loved the original X-MEN when it didn't sell very well. As well with DD too.
This was a lot of fun. The books shown were amazing. You picked up a great selection of comics. Getting what you want is also as important as well as saving money. Sometimes I've had to get extravagant to accomplish my collecting goals. Both of those were excellent gets, at a great price, so no apologies needed. It made you happy and that makes us happy too. Glad you had a blast on your birthday.
Wow, there was even a pony at the brewery. No wait, that was a dog, he just looked like the size of a pony. At 4:50 the first Aliens miniseries from DH with beautiful Mark Nelson b/w art, only outdone by the amazing airbrushed colour art of Denis Beauvais in the second miniseries. Promethea is one of the most beautifully illustrated comics I've read. Mike, if you have a Dave Stevens feature in every video you make I will never tire of seeing his art. Both the ASM and the X-Men are great but that Steranko cover just makes the comic the pick for me.
What a great birthday celebration! I gotta hand it to you Mike: you did good old son. And not just for the sweet pickups but because you Missus LMC let’s you get out and collect in stranger an unusual places (including breweries). Well done! It’s not every day that I say that New England does better than Cali but hands down your comic book shows are just so much better. Cheers!🎉
So jealous you got to talk to Josh face to face and even give him a hug. Been buying from h off Facebook auctions for years. Great guy. One of my favorite sellers
Yeah, that's definitely the flying turtle having a beer in that poster. Great pick-ups, especially the X-men #50...classic Steranko cover...probably my favorite. Oh, happy late birthday to you, sir. I wish that I lived closer. Need me that Dave Stevens Vampirella. We definitely need a place like that here in Jax. Please, drink and read responsibly...lol.
I let the majority of my Amazing Spiderman #1-100 collection (multiple copies of many) go years ago but still have a few...Amazing Spiderman #46 I still have :-)..always liked the Polaris X-Men cover too but that one left the coop too...
Cool books as always Mike. I have never had an X-Men 50, but I find it interesting that Arnold Drake was doing the art, considering that he co-created the very similar Doom Patrol for DC a few years earlier.
Happy Birthday Mike! Love those silver age X-Men and Spider-Man books. A brewery in the same place to buy comics is cool, but would be financially dangerous for me if I have too much to drink. lol
Awesome show!! I am so jealous. We just don't have that type of thing here in Virginia. I saw some awesome books there. I wouldn't know where to begin.
Couldn't have passed up the ghost rider 1!! At least from what I could see in the video. A lot of big boy books, love the content as always. Happy belated birthday.
Carlos, Sean, Joel, and especially Josh are such great sellers and members of our wonderful community. I need to meet the rest…and anytime I get to chill with with ChinMo. I am bummed I missed this show!
Congrats and Happy Birthday. I just picked up X-Men 50 at the last Cliff Con myself - love that issue. I'd been looking for it for a while - as Monty Python put it so well "And there was much rejoicing". I'm sure you feel the same.
Both books are awesome - Shocker is actually a very popular character and his status is elevated to one of the best Spidey villains. Love the idea of the brewery and you should have picked up Dolphin it’s a hot book.
Amazing video and Happy birthday. Im glad you treated yourself on your bday. You already got several people correcting you below but Im so happy you picked up the Gamera print once I saw it in the video. Im the biggest Godzilla Gamera fan in LA. I'm looking at no less then 4 Gamera prints as I type this. Don't worry about those LMC haters, being a collector you know you need to pick up books when you can find them. The fact your picking them up for a deal means your saving lunch money. Looking forward to the next one.
First of all happy birthday 🎉 love watching your show I think all your purchases where super cool can't wait for the comic cons in England to start just love flicking through comics and having a drink and food with friends love your pick ups today I'm a Spiderman fan and punisher
I had a great time at this show. I am in your video, giving you the thumbs up in the beginning of your video. I didn't know it was your birthday, man. Anyways, love your videos.
Mike, happy belated birthday! I’m glad you got to have such an epic time while picking up some amazing books. Also, I’m not sure if anyone’s told you but that’s Gamera, not Godzilla…
Happy belated birthday 😂🎉 Gamera is drinking the beer, Godzilla only drinks red wine. 😂🍷 To prevent a disastrous spill, no beer should be taken to the comic book area. Just sayin' 🤔
Happy birthday Mike!! Cool to know we have a birthday in the same month. Amazing pickups this video as well. I’m trying to work on trading so I can get books like those!!
Always wanted ASM Shocker and love Polaris XMen book as I met Jim at a art exhibition of his promoting his comic work and got Captain America #111 signed by him and back then they didn’t charge for autographs.
It was great to see those tales of suspense books so many first appearances of villains and stuff were in that title. Happy birthday Mike and many more.
Awesome pick ups Mike. I love that X-Men 50. I was fortunate enough to get my issues 49 and 50 signed by Steranko. When he did those X-Men covers he said he knew nothing of the story because he was working on Nick Fury. Editors asked if he could do some covers for X-Men because that creative team was always late with their work. His words not mine, lol. He changed the header because he didn't like the original and he knew they had no choice but to keep it. Love Steranko stories which he will gladly talk to you about. Lol. 👊🏼
My Dad gave me 2 signed prints by Dave Stevens. We were at SDCC in the early 90’s and DS signed them for my Dad. Cool prints but I’d part with them. He was a cool cat DS he had a pirate white long sleeve shirt on lol, cool guy though.. was sad to hear of his passing a few years back.
Happy Birthday! Boy, each one of your videos keeps making me want to move to New England! Some great books at some very good prices and frequent shows; love it!
I also prefer smaller comic shows.....just got back from Great Lakes Comic Con in Warren, Mi - it was great, but just packed with too many folks! Hey Mike, are you sure thats Godzilla? I'm thinking it's Gamara (the turtle) - lower jaw mandibles, shell on back, stomach area looks like a turtle....anyway, it's awesome!
