I am Grenadian and your videos were pivotal when I started. SGU has more stops now than when I was playing. I stopped in 2018. It's like remembering the good old days
I love the idea of slowly walking up to passers by quietly saying "Captain otter...?" just loudly enough for them to hear without startling them in hopes that one of them turns around 😂
When he ran into the guys and they just integrated him into their group for the day, definitely heart warming. It reminded me a lot of what it was like the first year or two that Pokemon Go was out. You love to see it.
It was super awesome back in 2016 when this game was at its peak and you would be catching rare Pokémon’s and doing gyms in teams this video reminded of that a time where people where nice to each other what a cool University and the place looks awesome to
i was in summer school the year it came out and in my walk there every day i would always run into groups playing and end up late to my class. good memories haha
@@Christizm we have different memories of it then, because as someone living in a big city, I hated launch so much I actually quit until 2020. people blindly crossing streets and getting hurt in stampedes is not fun and gave pokemon players a really bad rep. also gyms were so toxic. you'd get 24/7 sweaty andys defending gyms with maxed out dragonites and it was impossible to hold a gym long enough to even put a dent in your daily allowance cap. i know it seems insane by today's standards because they nerfed the heck out of it. end game was completely trash and most the features that have been added in the last few years should have been lanch functionality. i guarantee you if campfire was around in 2016 we'd have at least 5x the retained player base. i feel like it was too little too late. every single person from my social media friends lists quit before 2018. if it weren't for the remote raid ease-of-access in Poke Genie, I'd have no active friends at all
You know why? Because this is relatable, I mean he does things that most people would love to do but can’t, for different reasons, I mean it’s not extravagant things that he does, what he does is just real, no planning, not acted or scripted, his content is something we can all relate to.
This is the type of video that I love to see from Nick. I think it's what Niantic wishes the game was more off: people actually traveling around the world interacting with new people.
That security guard made my day for letting you in! I really expected that he'd say it's against the rules for tourists to wander around and he sadly has to ask you to leave, like in most places, but the campus looked so nice and you actually met great people, so big props to the guy for getting you a visitors card!
Idk about other countries but in my country, Universities are usually very welcoming to visitors in hopes they'll recommend the university to their friends and family.
I used to do security night patrols, and Pokemon Go players were the holy grail of what you want to see near sites you patrol. Thieves and assorted other unsavory individuals don't like people hanging round with phones out when they're trying to do their thing, so a bunch of Pokemon Go players are a great deterrent! Also, the look on folks' faces when a security guard pulls up next to them and asks if they know where that blasted Dragonite that's showing up on the radar is. Priceless! (Turns out it was round the corner and down a side street, nowhere close to the stop it was showing as being near)
This video is in my top 3 Trainer Tips videos, I loved this concept and It was so satisfying to actually find players in the area who play Pokémon GO despite it seeming very hopeless for a while! Can't wait what's next for you bro, see you in Japan!
Instantly just became one of my favorite videos you ever put out. The whole theme of this video was amazing. The fact that you can go out there, explore a whole new place and have a great time just based off this game is so sick to me. Just amazing dude.
@@CopperValor I’ve seen both sides of people with this game lol. The more casual down to earth players, & the hardcore “you can’t play with me bc why are you using that Pokémon type in this raid battle” players, it’s insane lol.
@@dylvnss Or the people who want to dominate the game and think they own the gyms. But I talk to so many people I never would have never talked to without the game, and those people are all such good people I was missing out. It really teaches you to be less judgmental of people - right?
You push the format of the Pokémon Go vlog more than any other RU-vidr and I really appreciate it! Love to see exploration and different communities that I wouldn’t get to experience otherwise. Glad to see you’re still making videos 💙!
Absolutely loved the video. The moment where you finally found some players was genuinely emotional, had a smile on my face for the rest of the video since then.
Come to my home country of Namibia. You'll have a great time will the Pokémon Go players which number a whopping 0. That's right. There's now 0 Pokémon Go players in Namibia. We all quit after all the crap Niantic has done.
What a wonderful breath of fresh air. Make this into a series! Even if you only do it twice a year, it’s very reminiscent of your old content. It’s what brought me to your channel originally. Thank you.
Great video! I'd happily watch more like this where you go out to a place and try and find a community. It may end up being really useful for helping bring communities together more if they have yet to bump into one another.
I went to St George's about six or seven years ago, to play Pokemon go, and add the regional Pokemon to my Pokedex. It was a rare occurrence I had extra money, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity. I was surprised about how steep the hills were and God, the steps. It took me about a good chunk of my vacation time just going around and taking over all the gyms on the right side of the island. I wonder if any of my Pokemon are still in those Jim's or if they've been taking over and replace countless times since then? I am team Mystic and I still am and was back then.
@@domomitsune5920 Cool, wished I could experience that. Know any places close to western Canada with same workout, and same or similar coverage in game?
I plan on visiting Canada sometime in my lifetime, but I don't know when. And some of the places I visited as a child, teenager, we're before Pokemon go and even Pokemon were invented. So I have to revisit them while having Pokemon go. Travel for Pokemon go purposes has only become more expensive even before the recession. I was lucky or unfortunate, to receive a inheritance which allowed me to go to St George's in the first place. I knew if I held onto the money, it would eventually be used up on things like rent, and bills, and I would have done nothing with it. And I knew the inheritance they gave me was to be used for something other than everyday necessities.
omg the smile on my face at the end, loved this video! This seems like it'd be a super fun series to do, to travel to the places that have few to no viewers of your channel. (Also wow, gorgeous landscapes!)
I love when he gives you a guest pass to the university! thats awesome. I love that they knew you and pulled you into their group. this community is amazing.
Shout out to the security guard for granting you the visitor pass! 😅 Awesome video Nick, well documented. Would love to see more of these kind of videos in the future when possible.
You making friends with the guys at the university campus weirdly made me a little emotional. Maybe it gave a bit of a lonely feeling that you were by yourself and the island felt kinda empty till now. It’s like finding your friends after losing them in the desert haha. ❤ What a videogame can do!
These are the videos I live for. I appreciate all your news and event updates, as I don't follow PoGo closely, but it's your travel Vlogs that I look forward to.
damnnn man, what a nice video! i only instal and play pokemon go when i go traveling, which is quite a rare event. this video makes me remember my journey when i go to Mecca and Madina 5 months ago, and i play pokemon go there while walking and looking for poke stop and gym. playing pokemon go when traveling is really fun experience
This video pretty much describes what playing Pokémon GO in my area is like. I live in a little village in the Netherlands, and after 11 months of playing I still didn't find a community or people to raid with. So thank you for all the ideas to find players in a specific area!
I really love how your videos mostly focus on the actual location/community aspect of the game, and how you try to stay adventurous and open-minded (especially in places you've never been before). All the players have good reason to film and comment on the actual game aspects and Pokemon IV's and things obviously, but watching you explore and enjoy what's around you is also why I personally have loved the game since launch. It's really rad you try to bring light to the community when you can and show how much you love the world around you fr.
I want to share a PoGo story from a couple weeks ago. I flew into Vancouver from farther north in BC. I was riding the train from the airport and spinning discs and grabbing gym badges where I could. After several minutes a Spanish international student sitting beside me asked if I was playing Pokémon Go. He opened his game as well and we got to chatting. He was hoping that I might have a Kangaskhan to trade him as he needed it for his last Kanto dex entry. I did have an extra one for him. I was scrolling through my pretty full dex and he spotted that I didn’t have a Maractus. He did. So we both got our regional new Pokémon! They were lucky Pokemon to boot. I went a bit further and unlocked an extra move for his. Great surprise for the start of my short trip.
Oh man, Nick. These travel videos are so awesome! It’s amazing to me that you can just decide to go to a new country all by yourself and just discover everything there
I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed that video from start to finish. You have always done a great job documenting your adventures while playing Pokémon Go. Even with all the drama in the community, you still find a way to make Pokémon go videos enjoyable. As someone with ancestry from and appreciates the Caribbean, kudos to you for pronouncing Grenada correctly! I'm glad you went to Grenada! Really isn't that talked about compared to the more popular places in the Caribbean like St. Martin/Maarten or Puerto Rico. This has such a wholesome story of college students wanting to make their university a better place and thus attracting people like you to the campus. Great to see that a Pokémon community DOES exist there and that even people on sleepy Grenada watch your videos which says a lot about your impact. This game of ours really does bring so many people from different walks of life together and it's beautiful.
With all the problems with the game and Niantic, videos like this are the most memorable and enjoyable and keep me wanting to play and go on trips of my own. Keep making these great videos.
@@alehlete830 Yes but then they would have technically been going to the Netherlands or France which obviously already have a large following. Point is to go to an independent nation that largely does not play or follow.
Trainer I will tell you right now as someone who hasn’t played the game in a minute. These type videos are amazing, you don’t even need to make it about the least amount of views. You could basically be a Pokémon Go travel vlogger. Videos like this make me want to get back into Go!
Grenada has a pretty cool flag at 0:57! The flag has a nutmeg on its left side as the island is the second-largest producer of nutmeg in the world, and the island is known as the Spice Isle because of it. The stars on the top and bottom represent the six parishes of the island, and the one in the middle represents the capital! Wonderful video! It’s so cool that you can go do these adventures and show us how diverse the world can be, but how a simple thing like a game can bring even the most different of people together. This is such a creative concept, you definitely go above and beyond to create your content. Love how you combine your two passions: traveling and Pokémon. And you immediately running into someone that recognized you is hilarious!
Actually such a sweet video. The guy in the taxi knowing you, the hilarious interaction with the security guard who gave you a security pass, meeting the international students 🎉 i hope you enjoyed your holiday!!!
The way I got so invested in this whole journey! So cool that you ended up finding some local players for community day. What an adventure. Great video!
Absolutely excellent, Nick! Incorporating what you WANT to do (travel), with what you "do for a living" (make PoGo content videos), and managing to incorporate those 2 ideas into a singular vacation/video idea that allowed you to check both those boxes, despite the dreary times this game is in. You are an absolute gem to the community for doing things like this, and Niantic has an invaluable resource in you highlighting just how amazing and rewarding it can be to actually go outside and play this game (when Niantic makes it accessible enough for people to do so).
Awesome video mate. I haven’t seen your videos close to a year now, but I’m sure glad I picked this one. I nearly forgot just how relaxing they can be.🖤🖤
Takes me back to early TRNRtips travel adventures! Just what I needed PoGo content wise with the state of the game atm. And learned more about Grenada than I did when I woke up this morning. You love to see it! Seems like a cool community, looking forward to the next chapter
glad this channel was recommend again, man i remember when Pokemon Go First released. Was waiting a long time for it to release and everyone the whole family and friends were outside exploring. Was an awesome moment to be a pokemon trainer
🇬🇩🇬🇩 YES!! Grenada to the World!! 🇬🇩🇬🇩 Although I play and live in the UK normally, I did play the game in Grenada for 3 months last year. There is a small community, but most of the gameplay is in the capital (St George's). It was an amazing experience, and I wished they had more point of interest in the game so players could explore the country more. Love my home country ❤️ Grenada 🇬🇩.
@Tangarisu I haven't personally experienced being in the country when it comes to hurricanes, but we haven't been hit severely by one since 2004. So, the procedures would have changed.
Hi Bro, just watched your video and makes me missing those good old days I'm playing POGO with my love one, friends. And I just decided to download back POGO as a returning players. TT Your video makes me tear when I saw you actually finding the pogo players. Man, it brings back so many good memories. :")
Possibly one of my favorite videos by you!! Loved this! I love that you intentionally went to a country just to find people playing Pokémon Go. I found myself rooting for you to find some of those locals in the gyms! Love that you found the local community!! 10/10 video!!
Amazing wholesome video! Appreciate your creativity, and will to go out your comfort zone! 🙌Thanks for bringing us along! ❤️ Psyched for the next video already
Hands down best video I have seen on your channel. Hearing how the campus has grown its stops and gyms brings more light to how much effort it takes to have a place to play. I hope you continue exploring other places in and outside the US to see how/where the communities play.
Such a W vid. really felt the aloneness for the first segment of the vid and the satisfaction of taking all those risks and having them finally pay off when he found the community at the med school? such a W vid.
This video gave me literal chills and such a big smile! Despite all the ridiculous things Niantic puts us through, this game has given many of us experiences we would have never had otherwise.
i love that you can hear the excitement in his voice as he's playing with those guys, hoping i can have that same experience tomorrow meeting up with a local group for the first time for shadow mewtwo raids :>
This man is a professional. Made a almost 20 minute video interesting the whole way through and has me wanting to watch a whole new video by the end. Genius.
Love your videos and I’m from St.Kitts and Nevis. Enjoy your Caribbean adventures. May not be home watching your content but a 🇰🇳 native enjoys what you do.
Dare I say it but this is possibly the best video I’ve seen you do bro. I love the idea of finding Pokémon go players all around the world. There could be a hole page just for finding Pokémon go players. So glad you found them and love the commitment for the stairs recording I know you did two trips because you left the camera to get the shot. Please would be good to see more content like this if anything this brought me back to the channel after drifting away 😅.
I agree I like content like this, if you haven't seen it already, check out the video he did for Morocco, it was like a mini travel documentary but about the pogo community there.
Literally the best Pokemon GO video in years. Across all content creators. No remote stuff, no complaining,. no bad vibes. Just exploring and socializing. Shoutout to the guys @ campus for being cool and welcoming. And also massive shoutout to the security/doorman-kinda-guy, actual MVP. Great video Nick. Very jealous of your adventure, but very appreciative/entertained of/by you sharing it.
Like everyone else has said, amazing video! I remember the excitement I used to feel when running into someone at an unlikely place to play PoGo. Many of them being some of my favorite memories. This is what it's about! Hope to see another video like this in the future
Ok as much as I want to watch this while I'm bored at my retail job... I have a feeling this is going to be a video worthy of waiting til I can watch it on the TV at home 🤔 Update: Yup. Worth the wait. This was a video that just fit so well on the big screen. Great concept. Beautiful footage. Amazing job my friend.
