I LOVE the way she wasn’t afraid of or turned off by your hair. So many times I’ve seen people who look like they are disgusted by and/or afraid to touch our hair like something’s going to come out and bite them or give them a disease that it’s super discouraging to think about having salon experiences in most places in the U.S., let alone another country. This was so heartwarming and encouraging to see!
I was thinking the same thing!! Can't even count how many salons just flat out turned me away at the door back when I was in college... My friends and I had to do each other's hair. So I love seeing videos like this!! Make me want to go try a head spa now 😊
@@teej80MAYBE THEY TURNED YOU DOWN BECAUSE YOU COMPLAIN AND TALK NEGATIVE ABOUT THEM. ESPECIALLY WHITE PEOPLE. YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT MAKEUP, ABOUT POLICE ABOUT GETTING JOBS. BUT THE WORLD NEVER COMPLAINS OR SPEAKS ABOUT YOU. TURN TO ADONAI GOD IF YOU WANT CHANGE. THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE. REPENT FOR THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS AT HAND.
@@teej80But this is a good thing that they turned you down if they don't know how to style your hair. It's better than taking your money, pretending to know what they are doing and just fuck up Your hair.
That’s care and I got to the point years ago I don’t want a African American woman in my head anymore only a man women have negative thoughts I was getting some tracks glued in and I couldn’t even where it from Thursday evening until Saturday morning
I've never ever had an Asian hairstylist complain or make me feel bad about my 4c hair, they've been by far the most gentle with my hair/scalp as well, it never hurts. For 11 years I've had the same Korean hairstylist, I followed him when he opened his own salon, he's been amazing every single time.
Despite not knowing how to style your hair, they did pretty good all things considered. They did their best to fix it nice and your hair is sooo cute! I'd love to see you with an afro more often tbh
I'm glad she didn't try to straighten your hair and focused on scalp treatments and you came out with a nice fro, even not knowing how to work with Black hair.
I love Korean stylists, they will do their level best. Way back in 1988 I was newly stationed I'm Korea andxmy hair had fallen put a couple of months prior due to a horrible perm. I went to a Korean stylist, no foreign hair stylists were in country, who put a curl in my head using the tiny red rods. I had practically no hair at all.. Baby, I saw her every 2 weeks and when I left Korea 9 months later my hair was down the middle of my back when blown out. They will always try♥️
It’s nice to see that you understood why they wouldn’t know how to style your hair. It’s probably so extremely rare they see hair like that. Of course they aren’t going to know! You were so nice and understanding I love that. They were trying and did a good job. I hope you had a good time 😊
lol of course they don’t know and ofc it’s okay to understand it. you say about it like it’s some kind of magic. they don’t have to know how to style this type of hair.
So cool! Love how you both were great. You didn't blame her but complimented her and she did her best and kept you comfy. There are places that don't know how to deal with regular curly hair without straightening it so this is really nice!
@@HOXHOXHOXwhatever helps you sleep at night bro 😂 I can guarantee you Japan is statically much more accepting than Korea but that doesn’t make Japan perfect 😭
Your attitude about the styling is so cute and sweet! I’m always so happy when people are still appreciative of others even though they don’t know how to do something but will try their best.❤
Love that she focused on the positive her scalp yrestment and the overall experience, rather than the fact that they had little or no experience of her type of hair and how to style it ❤
I love this! As much as they're not very familiar with the hair texture, she gave you one hell of a positive experience, and never let you leave with the bear minimum! Thank you for using the platform to be respectful and show us that not every experience is going to warrant negativity. ❤
Love this video how fantastic that they gave 100% so many people in their own country would not give 100% on trying to make the customer happy love love love love love love this video
Aww bless ‘em. At least they tried Style your hair in accordance with your face shape so made sense. The waterfall hair washer zapper though 👀 !!WOOW!! 😘👌🏾💯🇬🇧
Believe me, the stylist was enjoying every minute of it. They are super intrigued by the wooly hair type, It’s not every day that they get to do that. They even have a way to make their hair wooly but it’s a long process.
Absolutely. I'm a hairdresser and have done permanent waves (perms) with tiny rods the size of Qtips. You have to take paper thin sections and it takes forever.
Worth mentioning: a lot of senior Korean ladies in my area go to Korean salons get perms. the result has some similarities to the op's "final style" in this video, less voluminous though
I love that they didn't turn you away. In Korea and Japan it can be very anti-foreigner, and esp if you are a poc with textured hair it can be hard as I understand it. They did a lovely job and treated your hair wonderfully!
And her hair is natural & she has beautiful skin, no crazy makeup. Very pretty girl. Rather than scrunching her hair, the stylist should have used a wide toothed pick to accentuate her Fro & sprayed a lovely scented moisturizing setting spray on her hair. You have to keep hair moisturized, including black hair, or it’s going to break off. Every time she had braids & had her hair pulled on real tight, someone was breaking her hair, hence the thinning spots that the stylist treated. That means she needs to use some moisturizer & watch out for hard water on her hair, use a leave in moisturizer when washing with city water or hard water. And don’t be afraid to wash your hair a little more often because your scalp is where everything begins. It’s the hair products you use that keeps your scalp and hair from drying out. Plus you don’t want your head to stink. Shea Moisture makes some good products for black hair & all hair and it’s Made In USA.🇺🇸
they did a great job! not only does your hair look great (to go with that pretty face) but it looks healthy too. Here in Flint, MI hairdressers act like they don't know what curls hair are. Flint! WTF!!!
We can always change a hairstyle, but not the condition of our hair. I will take good hair care any day over a good hairstyle. They did magnificently and thank you for sharing.
that’s why i love black hair because it doesn’t really need to be styled it’s like we rock that natural, messy look that people with finer hair would call a messy bun or like a beachy, natural look
That looks so lovely and her intentions must be the best on your hair. I'd love to go to such a salon with my straight kneelong european blonde hair. I can't cut it anymore because I have lost trust in the salons here AND I love (long) hair, but here they seem so trustworthy I would go there!
@@delilahsorensen855 no, they could threat it like a Korean hair but they didn't. I'm Japanese and I go to Koreans salons a lot. They don't do that normally. People don't use curly /afro hair here, like never. So they usually do it straight, flat Idk what the English word for it. Even perm is different than your perm here. We only love to get some "slight" waves. But I've never seen a Japanese or Korean hair salon do Afro hair ever in their lives and I live in Tokyo normally. It's a big touristic city. Even they don't do, Koreans don't do that either. But still they try to make her best and managed to NOT RUIN it. I have a black friend and he got a haircare in a different country and they ruined his curls it took to long to make them nice again. Koreans and Japanese people are too passionate about everything they do
You have such beautiful hair! I was afraid they were gonna straighten it! I'm so happy they styled it, even if they weren't experienced with your hair type. It came out beautiful!
When I was based in Korea, I went to the mall in Camp Humphreys area…the ladies always slayed my hair! Braids, flat twists, short cuts, relaxers, weaves!!!! They did it perfectly!!!!!!
I LOVE that she chose to lightly blow dry and scrunch sections of your fro to “style” it. That is proof that you can know absolutely nothing about black hair and not damage it!!!
Oh she was focused. Even if she didn't know how to style you, she still gave a beautiful service! It looked so healthy, and so relaxing. Good job 👍🏿🩷🩷🩷
They don't necessarily need to learn. Korean and Asian hair is usually straight. They have no obligation to learn how to deal with other types but it's very sweet how much she tried@@user-ayiy824jbd
Literally! I agree 💯! I came to the comments to say the same thing! But I'm glad I found your comment! I second this! Spread understanding and love xxx
I think the “problem” is in the fact that they just did the one thing they’re probably most familiar with when it comes to black hair styles, but I’m sure most black people know you’re only guaranteed results when you go to a black hair stylist. She still slayed tho
Why did I get choked up a little? It's just so admirable and nice that she tried. She didn't turn her away and gave her client the best she could even without the expertise. Beautiful.
I love how BOTH of you showed such RESPECT & open mindedness towards each other. I applaud you for going to a Korean hair salon & try something new & not be afraid of it. We need more ppl like that in our world... great job! I'd also like to applaud the hair dresser for doing her job at 100% even though like you said in the video, she wasn't knowledgeable about how to deal with black ppl's hair (don't even try it..y'all know this isn't being racist. Just facts). She did her best, and asked if that was ok with you, which was nice & again you were also very understanding which was just really sweet & beautiful to watch ❤❤️❤️ I do believe however that IF more black people went to Asian hair salons... you'd be surprised to see how quickly and eagerly they'd learn how to deal with different types of hair. 😉 It'd be a win- win situation... I know many black hair salons where you have to wait HOURS for the next person to be done. This might ease the load 😅
@@NaishiYTbrush it for what? It just causes unnecessary breakage and it not going to straighten the hair. You get better results using your hands and fingers that way you can control untangling the knots.
Literally, the epitome of blessing your heart! Aka go get your hair cleaned really well. But, if you want it done well... you gonna need to go somewhere else. Lol At least she tried!
Actually not the epitome of bless her heart. The hair is done well, so cute. Look at that spheric, 80ies hairdo, but with some free curls too. So 80ies teen, I say it's 10/10
I’m so glad she didn’t brush or try to straighten it. She was very respectful without knowing what to do exactly. So glad you had such a wonderful experience.
Girl they jacked UP her hair and you know it. Her hair is already damaged pretty badly but that lopsided afro with no moisturizing products they let her leave with is not giving.
@@CanineGrowTimeso.. what is that product being scrunched into the head during the styling process… also if you’ve ever used Korean epidermal care then you know how amazing it is. I bet the shampoo alone moisturized and repaired damage in her hair!! 😂
Yes! I don't understand how people travel to other countries and expect them to know how to treat your kind of hair... if it's different from their culture and nothing else is said that they specify in your type of hair, then you shouldn't expect that. So happy to see Darcei didn't, and was happy with what they did.
@ellacarter1442 The spiritual aspect is more likely to be affected or implemented by those that know exactly how to handle our hair type than OTHERS trying any spiritual wickedness
I'm Black and these comments are misleading. As a Black person I know FULLY WELL that not everyone knows how to do my hair. I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO DO MY HAIR. OR OTHER BLACK PPL FOR THAT MATTER. Bc it's different then "regular Black hair". It's wavy curly. So why TF would I go to a homogeneous country and act a fool bc some Korean lady can't do my hair. That shit does NOT happen. You're just using the angry Black woman stereotype to say we'd act out, when normally, we're actually THE MOST understanding. Thought you'd slip this covert racism through and nobody would notice? Eith your fake ass "omg I'm so happy she was understanding 😊, unlike most ppl." Gtfoh
I love that she played to her strengths when it came to styling. She didn’t know how to style it but she had enough care to make sure you looked good. Shout out to her!
