The 56 looked superb on your wrist. The 222 would also be a stunner and great size. Yes, Vacheron is that good. Elegant and finely finished. Very different from AP and Patek, both of which are sublime as well. Love your PP collection. The majority of AP production is the Royal Oak, but there are many versions of it. I think people get hung up on it being their core design, but that's like disparaging a brand for only having round cases. And the history and influence of the Royal Oak…Jumbo, automatic, Offshore, chronograph, perpetual, Concept, Tourbillon, dual time, equation of time, grand complication, etc…cannot be overstated. Agree, the 56 looked perfect for my wrist, but I just could not ultimately justify the $44K price tag to pull the trigger on that one (when pre-owned is so much less.). I was not able to try on the 222 in-person, but I hope to do so in the future. My visit to Vacheron Constantin in Chicago was such a wonderful experience. I appreciate the service there very much, so very kind.. I think the Fifty-Six would be the very best watch for me in their entire collection. Maybe I might consider a lower priced steel version... I am totally turned-off from AP, after visiting AP House in NYC twice, AND AP Boutique once in NYC. AP House was especially arrogant and stuffy. I expressed interest in several versions of the Royal Oak. They were Not willing to sell me anything at the first visit. At the second visit, They only offered a Ladies version of the AP Code, which I did not want. I will not be returning there. And I refuse to buy from the grey market.
I live in LA and finally visited the VC boutique in Beverly Hills. I was warmly welcomed and spent about 45 minutes chatting with the salesman in their lounge. He casually brought out watches for me to try on and there was no pressure to buy anything. I adore the 56 and it suits my lifestyle. I will certainly go back and buy one from him when I’m ready.
That's what I like to hear about the Vacheron. I was told they want to continue limited production, but still offer accessibility. I'm hoping the NYC Boutique was a one-off.
The Vacheron salesman sounds great. I'd have a hard time not buying one after that treatment. Sadly, the Overseas is too big for my wrist too. The 56 looks fantastic, though.
-The 222 is brilliant. I got a chance to try it on and it was stunning. Very well finished movement , case and bracelet. It had a certain elegance to it which I can’t correctly articulate at the moment. -Since you liked the 56, try to see if you can try on a date only version in steel. Also quite decent. -I’m surprised you feel the overseas was too big for you. On video it seems fine. Also the way it sits on the wrist changes a bit when you size it correctly. - What that guy said about FPJ and you needing to visit the boutique every month on a certain day is true. They have monthly get togethers at the boutique here in London and normally it’s full of insufferable wankers I can’t be bothered to associate with. They say it’s to get to know their potential clients better and build a true relationship with the people they’re seeking to. They make lovely watches but I genuinely have better things to do with my time.
That is exactly what he said! At first I did not understand, but he said F.P. Journe expects his clients to visit the Boutique on a certain Thursday of each month, just to still be considered for an allocation. And at best, you might get one watch per year.

Nice video as always! I think that the holy trinity is good like this. But we don't have to think at the current AP but we should bring our thoughts to early 2000 when they had Jules, Millenary and Edward with a lot of interesting complication at catalogue. Vacheron definitely has to be in the trinity cause of the amazing quality (i visited the geneva boutique and they said that most of the parts are hand made) and the design is iconic! The Fiftysix is my second favorite collection, so I would go for the 56 that u tried, but i suggest you to consider the steel version
Great to see Chicago again. Going for the 222 would be amazing. How do you hold your camera so people don’t get bothered when they accidentally are filmed?
Combination of things. I am actually hoping to get people into the frame. 1. I use the back screen instead of the eyepiece, so that makes me look more like a tourist. 2. I pretend I am shooting something in the background, like a building, so they think it is their fault if they walk in front of the camera. 3. I am cropping in, so I am actually standing further away than it looks. 4. Finally, most people from NYC or Chicago just don't care if their photo gets taken, and they are just minding their own business. (Not like a small town where people will get upset.)

Currently, I’m making steps in adding to the collection watches from all 3 Holy Trinity brands. The treatment I’m getting as a new customer in VC boutiques in Amsterdam and Geneva is the best comparing to PP and AP.
I was in Chicago early July. One of my favorite places. I went into that omega and finally got to see the white speedy. I was so thrilled that I went walking off the other direction and didn’t realize I was right by Vacheron. 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
Ahh the memories! I love Chicago and lived there for many years. Went recently and it’s changed a lot. It’s actually more upscale and the food has always been much much better to me than NYC if you know where to eat. I’ve always said that Vacheron is for you. Their watches are elegant and you can’t beat the complications and history. You gotta get the midsize Overseas, the moonphase 56, and the 1921. You didn’t like the 1921? That’s my favorite. And yes the 222!
I have a moonphase on my PP 5205G, so I think the Fiftysix Day-Date would look different. And it's a great size. The 222 is a tough piece to judge from just pictures (usually only see it on Brad Pitt). Wish I could see it in-person. I'm wondering if it would look too similar to my YG Day-Date Champagne 36mm.
It is an exquisite piece. Beautiful dial and the bracelet is top-notch. But I could never pull it off. Make sure your wrist is size is big enough for this watch!
Another great video SC. The situation with Rolex, AP & Patek seems to be very tough there and rather unwelcoming. Glad that Vacheron gave you a great experience. Their watches are fantastic but will highly drop on the second hand market. So you should consider that option as well. Of course he will praise Lange since both companies are owned by Richmont (I love Lange as well) and be a bit more skeptical towards the brands outside of Richmont. The 222 could be a great option for you, I would agree that it matches your style and wrist size. Possibly even better than many of your current watches. How is your Patek journey going? I remember you bought the pieces from different ADs, do you still see a chance for an Aquanaut or Nautilus?
He also said Cartier is a good brand, and he worked with them previously. AP is especially difficult to deal with, in NYC, and I assume Chicago. Zero chance of a RO unless you pay the price of admission (a Code). I hope I am not done with PP. Maybe that is why I am hesitating on Vacheron, since it would pull away funds from a next potential Patek.
I like Vacheron, Overseas is to big for me. I look the 222, nice size but to flash for me. It is a overseas 34mm, I hope they bring back the 222 in steal...I think eventually will back.
Really enjoyed this video. I've been in Chicago for about 16 years, neat seeing a tourists perspective. I would've recommended some different spots for coffee/food but appears you still enjoyed yourself overall. I've never seen anyone in the RM store.
@@sc1 I had to dig into it a bit. You can book an appointment online through RM. I've wanted to do it, just see and try on a few but have yet to get around to it.
I have been considering Journe but, after hearing about the lengthy courting process you mentioned, I think maybe I’ll follow your path and turn to Patek. I just have another step or two in my career before I can turn to that brand.
Vacheron to me is underrated but I don’t think they’re better than Patek. Maybe they edge out AP but not by much. It’s nice to see they treat their customers well. I think I’d like my next piece to be an Overseas but I’ll definitely go grey. Not into the games. Did you inquire about wait times for any of the pieces that were available?
The Overseas is too large for my wrist, so I only asked about fifty six, and it is available to purchase immediately. He seemed eager for me to purchase. Then recommended the 222 as a second watch later on. This man was extremely nice, but the woman at the NYC Flagship store was not very welcoming at all.
Love every about Vacheron apart from one major thing. All the watches are about 2mm too big. Great that you were treated well though. Gives you some hope.
I find it funny when people post videos of Chicago. I live here, and I grew up here, so it is strange. FYI, the stores must be like that because Jack asses riot and steal. I saw three women with babies walk into Sachs, steal stuff and just walk out. They said it happened all the time. That was BEFORE COVID. It is really sad. Swiss Fine Time is my favorite shop. I bought my Astron there, and a Nomos Club Campus (I am not really a luxury guy). It sucks how thugs have ruined so much, yet our last mayor bent over backwards to accommodate Thugs. I guess online is the only way now.
Hear me out, the newer model of your two-tone diamond dial Daytona is spectacular since the subdials are filled in with the sunburst effect. See if you’d like to trade up for it…maybe be worth your time! But seriously, ain’t nothing like a world class watch in a world class city in the summer ❤
222 is an excellent watch, but it is not for me. Personally, I don't like integrated bracelet because I think that a watch shall have visible and recognizable lugs. I agree with the VC sales associate on AP because except for Royal Oak they don't really have something that is of a true icon.
@sc1 I would buy the 56 from the market as unworn for sure.. even the 222 you can get them cheaper than retail today if your aim is only 222. be aware that the 56 date only is not inhouse movement.
I prefer buying from the Boutique, for the experience and reassurance. I am still considering the 56 day-date pink gold very much, and trying to make a final decision.
@@sc1 56 day-date pink gold very much was offered to me 15k USD cheaper directly after boutique purchase and refused to take it . unless you value the experience at that amount I would suggest to re-evaluate.
