As someone who lives in Boston, you did so right by going before the hecticness begins, it can truly get overrun with tourists and people visiting during october and i think is most magical in september and november. honestly all of new england is magical during fall and winter! xx
I’ve wanted to go to Salem for ages but none of friends have wanted to go with me. I’m from Canada and I’ve always been scared of solo travel as a young woman but this is honestly inspiring me to maybe save up, get out of my comfort zone, and go for it!
I've recently started doing solo trips and it's sooo amazing ❤️ there may be some anxiety of course but believe in yourself and allow yourself to fully immerse into the adventure
As someone from the US, I’d also say that touristy spots like Salem is pretty safe. Honestly, in the past I’ve just advised my friends from other countries to take the same precautions that they’d take in their local area. Like keep family updated on your whereabouts, do a bit of research about the local area, you can even go to places like Reddit and find a group about that area and ask questions. When I’m traveling, I always turn on the Find my friends feature on my iPhone and choose two people who can see it at any given time. This way your family can instantly see where you are even if you don’t text back immediately. Solo traveling is very empowering and I hope you have fun! Maybe while you are saving up for a big trip you can take smaller local trips to gain that extra confidence boost.

So cool! I went to college in Boston and for some reason I never went up to Salem. The fall vibes in Boston were good but it seems like Salem is so much better! Oh Mark!!! So, I have a story related to your video! I lived in Salem 2003-2005 and I went to Salem State University (being a Canadian 🇨🇦 visiting student) so I was watching your wonderful vlog with great interest and nostalgia! Then at about 14:41, I recognized you were standing on Saltonstall Parkway and Lafayette - and as you panned to the right, I recognized my house I’d rented, which was 217 Lafayette (two story blue with white trim, located on the corner of Saltonstall Parkway and Lafayette!) How familiar that was to me and what a coincidence, and how was I to know when I had moved there that there would eventually be RU-vid, and a vlogger I would years later come to follow who would eventually capture that old house through your lense, so many years later! I hope someday soon to go back and visit Salem and surrounding towns, and I hope you do also. The area has so much to offer for history, please be sure to check out Marblehead and Danvers and the real history of Salem and the Witch Trials. And the old cemeteries that have so many stories to tell. Maybe even filming locations of “National Treasure” in Boston next time! Thanks very much for the video. It brings back so many memories! I did a solo trip around Salem and Boston in my 20's and it was honestly the best experience. Salem is such a pretty and spooky small town. You should definitely go to New Orleans if you like spooky!!

Their predecessors had come to the Colonies earlier in the 1600s from Great Baddow, England. I love Salem in spite of it's commercialism. History still lives there.💗

good to see someone taking the ferry. its really underestimated as well as the trolley by tourists. I usually recommend aa few day stay3-4 days to get the most out of ones visit. There's so much more you haven't seen. there is a yellow stripe that goes around Salem to most of the historic sites. the trolley does it to but its a tour as well. If you go again research some places to eat and visit while your there. I love Salem and liked it more than Boston too. I thought Boston was awesome but in comparison I still preferred Salem. many areas have live music, street performances and even parades if you go at the right days. Good to see you have a good time

So glad you came to Massachusetts! That part of the US is such a great place to live and it's super liberal and accepting. When you come back to Salem you should defiantly give Boston another go, it's such an amazing city. I would highly recommend the Boston Duck boat tour, The Commons & Public Garden, and the Museum of Science.
I love visiting film/tv locations too, it’s my fav 😍 & obvz love Hocus Pocus so was really cool to see them all! The weather was ideal too, very atmospheric!
