3:45 In Korea, 10L soju is used as fermented liquor. To put the fruit called plum, which comes out every June, you have to put soju in a large container. You can make very sour and sweet fruit wine. In addition, ginseng, raspberries, and various root vegetables will be added to soju.

So, interesting. You do such a great job of highlighting a country or area you are visiting. The young S. Korean women was a great addition to this video, as well. It is so sad for what the US has become. When I was young (age 70 now), our doors were never locked. We did live in a suburb, an outside area of a city; it was very safe. As kids, we rode our bikes for miles, our parents were not worried about us being kidnapped or hurt by anyone. Today in the US, that has drastically changed. Everyone locks their doors and many have security systems answering the door and security all around their home with camera surveillance. It breaks my heart for what my country, the US, has become. Gun violence is an incredible problem; yet, the gun industry, the NRA and a small segment of our population keep deadly guns in our society.

I'm German and spent some time in the US about 30 years ago. I agree, things have changed, and public safety is one of them. I also remember back then that politics was not a s smalltalk topic at all, whereas now I feel like being immediately scanned which side I'm on. It's a divided country. But there still are so many things we can take a leaf out of - first of all the openness and entrepreneurial spirit I'm missing here. It would be so interesting to see Niki's unbiased and unprejudiced view of the country!

Dental treatment in US without insurance is around $500-1000 or more depends on what you do, my sister had to have 2 implants and she did not have insurance. Let's just say round trip to Korea air ticket plus total implant price for 2 tooth were still cheaper in Korea than US without insurance, including her stay in Korea for a year. US is medical hell. oh and glad Niki enjoy his stay in my home country, I want to go too lol

Root Canal in the United States is between $800 and $1800 I would say depending on the area. Edit: With insurance it is usually half that so I would pay between $400 to $900.
@chezmanya
@chezmanya Год назад
Niki, two root canals in the United States would cost you over $3000 cash. You got a bargain in South Korea! I’m sure they did excellent work too. If your teeth would need a crown after the root canal, those would be $1500 apiece approximately -ouch! no wonder many people in the US are reluctant to go to the dentist. They simply can’t afford it -even people with dental insurance end up paying 50% of those costs plus their insurance premium. Not a deal. thank you for showing us around Seoul. South Korea looks like a great place to visit. I would go crazy over the food! But like Japan, I feel that the society puts a lot of pressure on the young people, and for that reason, it would be difficult to live there, long-term. I do envy them for their safe streets. The United States has become so scary these days, I hardly recognize my own country. It was never that way when I was a child. We used to leave our doors unlocked, and the neighborhood moms would keep an eye out for all the kids. Those were happier days, it seemed.

I was so close to visiting South Korea and Japan at one point. I'm a Motion Capture actor and in late 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the facial likeness role of Leon for the Resident Evil 2 Remake. I failed to mention I also have a voice acting background, in the end I lost the part and I can't forgive myself for wasting such an opportunity. That would've been a real dream come true to visit South Eastern Asia. Great video!

There always used to be a big Russian presence in Itaewon. But I haven't been there for years. From memory Koreans used to call it the foreigner area but westerners used to call it the Russian area. It was a big nightlife area but I always thought it was seedier than Hongdae. Apparently you could buy the best cheese there on the black market though.

You probably walked by many grocery stores and didn’t know it. They’re in the basements. Second, you paid full price at a dentist because you’re not covered by their national healthcare. I’m American, living in Korea and I fell on my bike, cracking a couple ribs. The total cost for x-rays, ultrasound and seeing a specialist at a hospital = $11.20. My last dentist visit: 3 x-rays and a filling = $10.00. My rent for a one-bedroom apartment is $500. and that includes wifi, cable TV and underground parking if I wanted it. My electric bill is about $14.00 a month, heat and air conn is gas powered and never over $80.

The average cost of a root canal in the United States is between $600 and $1,600 without insurance. Front teeth are easier to access than molars so front teeth root canal treatment is less expensive than bicuspid or molars. Directly after your teeth treatments you start showing Korean restaurants with chewy meat dishes - which I wouldn't want to touch after just having had root canal treatment!
