Looks amazing. I remember visiting the 1st IMAX cinema in Bradford when it opened in 1983. Absolutely out of this world experience at that time the sound was phenomenal, you didn't just hear it, you felt it xx

Looks like they've cleaned all the moss on the face of the New Look building next door also. Thought they were going to overlook that detail. Nice to see the area looking all smart.

E.T. was the first ever Pirate VHS movie I ever saw on our brand new state of the art VHS player.

Thanks Stephen. A nice new cinema, not bad looking for a modern building. The only thing that spoils these places are the prices, food and drink etc. But nice for an occasional visit.

Now all we need is some decent films getting made. here's hoping!

Premier was last night, and I was supposed to go, but I ended up having to pick up my mother from Blackpool Victoria and missed it. Anyway, I checked it out today and was shown around. The Imax projector cost £3.000.000 90k of which was tax apparently.

Hi Stephen. The new cinema looks fantastic. I went to a cinema here in Berlin last week to see the movie Dune 2. Watched it in English they also showed it in German . It was very loud. It’s a big cinema that I went too with 7 cinemas but not as big as the one in Blackpool. 👍❤️🥰

Excellent video Stephen, it sounds as if it's an interactive cinema complex what with the vibrating seats. Great that you have a bar and place to eat and relax either before or after your film.😊😊😊

Im afraid on demand digital films that can be watched at home are what the younger generation are going . The film industry is moving to streaming formats ,even the marvel films are going to be put out on streaming platforms . This cinema will struggle as film audiences are still well below 2020 viewers and the lack of quality film releases is killing cinema theatres . Plus the price is ridiculous .

Great video, we've not long been to Blackpool to watch Marc Almond live at Winter Gardens in the Empress Ballroom! That was the carpark we used and saw this cinema from the outside! Looks awesome, great video 👍

For years cinemas have been closing down due to reports people are not visiting them so why are they still charging so much.

Great video Steven. Oddly, this morning, I watched a RU-vid vid about an Oz IMAX...who guided the viewer through the digital delivery and projection of..Dune II. The contrast between the Winter Gardens and the new theatre is fascinating. I wonder what patrons of the old Winter Gardens would think of a vist to Blackpool's new IMAX ?

Thanks for the look around the Backlot Cenima Steve. We going to see Oppenheimer there today. We went to see Dune in Cleveleys on Monday. That Vue Cinema is in a great location just right beside the sea. Had a lovely lalk on the sea front before the film. The Lake District mountains were in view, fantastic! But it is great that Blackpool now have a cinema in a central location and even better to have an Imax. Xxx

The reason why he wasn't allowed to film in the screen is because it's *terrible*. You get about 10cm more legroom than you do on a plane. The seats don't recline, and there's a single, shared cupholder and tray alternating between the seats. A thoroughly uncomfortable experience, I don't know what they were thinking.

I think my very first film watched in cinema was E.T when really young & of course I cried when he went home.

Never heard of imax till now to be fair. Tell you what they finished of this project quite fast i have to say makes a pleasant change. Might have to make a packed lunch and go down. Much love stephen. Tbf ive never heard of dune niether so havent seen part 1 yet needless to type. But yes its all change here in blackpool.

I took a picture from when it was a car park up to finishing date. All in same location. Where did the time go. Went in had a look. Looks amazing. Will soon book for dune 2

I saw Dune 2 and it was rather slow i thought.Irakkus is ment to orbit the star Canopus which by a coincidence I last saw from a cinema roof in Oman about 4 years ago.Find Sirius and keep looking down at an angle and you'll come to Canopus but in England, indeed most of Europe, you'll come to the horizon first!

This is great of course, but i'm aware of the changing language where it was originally billed as the biggest imax screen in the country and before opening was downgraded to "one of the biggest in the north west". So either the original announcements were nonsense, or much bigger screens have since been launched or this screen was downgraded in size during construction. Anyone know which one it is?

Not the cheapest to be fair! £11 to see Dune 2 today. On the plus side, I had the entire screen to myself🤣. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit though, really isn't anything special and vue is cheaper with better seats.

IMAX is a great process Unfortunately the cinema itself is the usual boring and bland multiplex, soulless and uninviting Gone are the days of enjoying the experience of a visit to the cinema!

I can never enjoy going to the cinema. Hate the sound of munching, especially from popcorn, rustling of bags, people drinking through straws, whispering, phone noises. Makes for a terrible experience.
