In February and March 2024, I visited the special exhibition "Swordsmith 'Masamune' and His Disciples" held at the Fukuyama Museum of Art in Hiroshima Prefecture. This special exhibition featured Masamune, a legendary swordsmith in the history of Japanese swords, and his disciples known as the "Ten Great Disciples of Masamune." In this video, I will be sharing my experience of the exhibition.

The craftmanship, birth and life of these swords, really gives them a soul.

You show us swords made by masters, but you sir are a master of making the videos that bring these masterpieces to the public. Someday I would like you to make a video showing us your face, so we can see the man who is so dedicated to bringing these beautiful swords to life . Once again, thank you for all the effort you put into making these amazing videos. A subscribe, and former Martial Arts instructor from the USA

Thank you always for your comments. It really makes me happy to hear that. I plan to increase the vlog-style videos in the future, and during those times, I think I'll be speaking in front of the camera (which is a bit embarrassing). The narration is usually done by someone else I hire, as I'm not very good at English myself. I will do my best to create better videos!

id love too see a video if possible or if they even know on the difference between a Masamune blade compared too a master crafted blade made today. Is it who used it or is there a special quality to it?

@@HistoryofKatana my pleasure. I love your videos. Nihonto is man's greatest creation and Samurai were the greatest warriors. Thank you for such amazing videos. In the next year or two I'm going to Japan for the first time and I'm very excited

Kanze Masamune looks like it will be a very 'lively' sword if fitted with the right tsuka, that bo-hi should make it light and strong.

its confusing to say the least. wen you compare the works attributed to masamune some appear to be of the wrong period and with blades that have an inscription they all seem to vary somewhat, enuf to be a bit questionable. legendary figures tend to be shrouded in mystery ..their are alot of amazing blades at this exhibition. if i could spend the rest of my life studding old swords i would! and i would kindly ask for three more lifetimes because theirs alot to be learned, way more than you could fit into one lifetime!

Thing is, Masamune rarely signed his pieces, as did his direct students Sadamune and Hiromitsu. So, there's your clue.

Did you use a voice changer to record the video? It's nice to hear your real voice. :D

Usually, someone else handles the narration. In fact, I'm not very good at English myself, but I'm practicing to improve! In the future, I plan to make vlog-style videos in collaboration with swordsmiths, so please look forward to it!
