🤔 Makes me wonder how the planning process went for this exhibition to kinda miss the mark on it. Like additional input could have helped (e.g. on presenting fashion items). At least it sounds like it was better than the now infamous Willy Wonka thing in Scotland! 😅 The Hello Kitty doorway was super cute and the cafe did look amazing! 😃 Much love for Hello Kitty! I have no idea how many Hello Kitty items I have but I bet if they were piled up they'd be more than five apples high! 🤓

When I was in Japan I have met a researcher that is specialized in jfashion that was briefly consulted for this expo. And I feel sad for her. Because if she had been invited to come and see it and really work on it before hands it would not have turned out this way.

The doorway is impressive, but other than that? The Hello Kitty exposition in the Netherlands, which wasn't branded as huge by any means, had way more items for show, mostly lent by several collectors

Yes! I guess when the actual people who care about this get involved it is better quality than when a curator or has no idea tries to do something and also hires the wrong artists 😭 Is this expo still running?

Didn't go to the exhibition because of the AI art. Went to the cafe though and that was amazing! The food was yummy and had some time to take photos. The line was inside instead of outside like you experienced tho.

Oh yes! I saw that before the line was inside. But there was a reason they had to do it outside. Honestly you didn’t miss much. The cafe was the best part even with the wait!

No! I actually didn’t! Because I guess it was just at the very beginning and then there was so much more weird stuff piled on, that I had even forgotten about it when I did the review. But I am very surprised they did this. Especially in a museum. I have seen AI art before in science/technology and mixed with art museum but they were talking about the process, the meaning, the implications of that all. But here just using AI art randomly as if it was another artist was really disturbing.

the exhibition was godawful to traverse as two disabled people. the signage for lifts was terrible!! we're lucky that we can grit our teeth and use the stairs, but it sucked. we were told that you can rent a wheelchair, a self-propelled wheelchair, but when we got there, they only offered the hospital ones that require someone else to push!! my partner and i both struggle with standing for long periods, so we couldnt push each other lol. i only enjoyed the first area, up to the hello kitty collection :( the cafe itself was gorgeous and about what i expect for a collab cafe, but i was expecting more? we were also treated awfully by the staff managing the queue (but not by the cafe staff, who were wonderful!), giving the air that we should be grateful that they found a single chair for the two of us to sit in the hour long queue! i had to go into another room and sit down! the AI art being the face of the museum was horribly offputting. I went because my friends wanted to go, and i tried to stay optimistic, but i didn't have the best time :( such a let down!

*re expecting more from the collab cafe, i went to another collab cafe in london, and there was a bigger range in food and drinks!! i think that set the bar real high for me 😅 it's hard to think that this cafe was amazing when at the other one, i got a gudetama rice bowl, and keroppi matcha tiramisu... i want them again!

Honestly I have nothing to complain about the food in the cafe. It was really nice and a nice variety I found compared to the other one I have been to. But the other sounds awesome!

Hello Kitty étais juste partenaire. Mais l’expo en elle même était le travail des gens du musée local. Je pense que ils ont essayé de faire un truc artistique mais sont tombé à côté.

I don't think that dress represents history tbh. Classic lolita looks super different and even normal Victorian clothes too

@notgojo491 it doesn’t represent history. It’s lolita fashion, a street fashion from Japan very loosely inspired by rococo and Victorian dresses. But what I am complaining about is that it isn’t a good representation of this stream fashion because it doesn’t respect the usual rules of using only the same colors throughout the coordinates.
