I want to thank all the workers at toys r us, who are really great and nice people. I really wish that Bain Capitol didnt do what they did. Millions of dollars going to executives while severance pay was taken away is just a terrible thing.

Q When is toys r us closing?
A It closed this weekend June 29 2018 and end of July for Australia, this is the going out of business date. Asia/Canada are still open
Q Why is toys r us closing
A Baine Capitol ran TRU into the ground, paid millions to executives and left workers without severance pay.

A If you are looking for toys r us closing sale near me, well its already finished. It went to 80% on last day, never 90 except for tru bibs, which i bought.

OMG THANK YOU! its bain capital and kkr, as well as a few others. they took a really good bonus of millions of dollars then fired everyone. its typical for venture capitalists. i will pin this. im glad someone knows corporate.

The company just couldn’t compete with the likes of Best Buy, Target, Walmart and Amazon. These companies sold (and still sell) toys that were always cheaper in price. However, Tru had better prices on video games, if you can believe it. My wife and I shopped at our local Tru every pay day. We became friends with the staff and we were considered honorary Tru family members because of our frequent shopping trips to the store. The biggest complaint the employees had were the customers that NEVER shopped at their store, but showed up the last day to take advantage of the enormous sale. They (the employees) kept saying to us, ‘Where were these people when our jobs were in jeopardy?’. So, yeah… anyone who walked into a Tru during closing week (but hadn’t stepped foot in a Tru in years) were silently sneered at by the employees.

right? I dont understand. I been covering news about the closure so I can raise awareness about how toys r us was shut down in usa on purpose (thats why its still open after being bought in canada) and alot of adults say it was their childhood. But its actually the kids of today that are sad. adults just move on, even when some crazy financial predation is going on. And I didnt even grow up going to toys r us, it was too expensive. I did love geoffrey though, always thought he was cool. And being able to go to toys r us as an adult was nice, it actually has a lot of specialty items you cant find anywhere else. o well, thats what happens in todays world where everything is talk

It wasn't alone, just some of the last vestiges after they were the only real chain which remained after KB, which still wasn't that long ago... TRU was the real last bastion for kids ;-;

As someone who worked at Toys R Us for 5 years, it definitely was a one of a kind store and haven't experienced a work place like that since! I went on the last week of closing expecting to find a Nintendo switch on sale and boy was I stupid for trying.... all the electronics were gone ! Some guy that worked there said that was the first to go.

Sad thing is that I never got to go to Toys R Us my entire 20 years of living. My mom said she was gonna take me there once I did all my chores, and that was like 5 to 6 years ago. Edit: I did those chores around that time

Yeah its sad. I havent been there in years, but it seems like recently its been amazing with the birthday parties, events for kids, and the geoffrey mascots. Alot of their best toys came out in recent years too. Now, the executives took millions of dollars and ran off while the company sank and workers are without pay and jobs. Its pretty messed up to know it was shut down on purpose.

loooooool nope. I cared so little I FORGOT to go. Toysrus was cool and I got to know the employees there. Our tru is rly hard working, theres other ones where no one even cleans the shelves lol everything is just everywhere. So tru liquidation was quite interesting. Sears, lol I wouldnt know, but I dont think I missed much. How was it?
