This is the first time I have sat and listened to Dino Melaya and supported every word he has said. I will encourage him not to give up no matter what. He must continue to speak up. The task he is elucidating will not be an easy one but a journey of a thousand mile starts with one step. I'm totally behind Dino Melaye on this one. If we must save our country, all of us must join him.

The judiciary, Nigeria democracy is absolutely rubbish.

Until now, I had not seen Dino Melaye as one suitable for public office. However, his current position on the role of INEC and the Judiciary calls for very sincere and committed public support. Without a shadow of a doubt, the evidence of what happened in Kogi is an irredeemable indictment of INEC. The usurpation of the people’s right to elect their leaders and representatives by the Judiciary is destructive of the nation’s democratic aspirations. Clearly, where the Courts should have ordered re-runs, they took it upon themselves to impose “Winners” on the electorate. Any reasonable impartial observer would have noticed the manner in which the Judiciary treated the FCT requirement in determining the success of a presidential candidate. The interpretation given by the Court was purely sentimental and not a legal technicality. It was glaring that electoral results were altered in many circumstances and, that couldn’t have been symptomatic of a free, fair and credible election. Also, the Presidential and National Assembly elections were conducted side-by-side, but the Courts accepted, without question, the “glitch” in transmitting presidential results while those of the NASS ran uninterrupted. Dino is absolutely right to call for the resignation of the INEC Chairman and perhaps even dissolve the body with a view to reconstituting it entirely. Necessarily, all laws relating to the body and its conduct of elections would need to be amended. The brazen impunity with which the Courts undermine the rights of the people of Nigeria must be checked. For INEC to have been absolved of all wrongdoings is a clear indication of the collaboration and cooperation of two servants working for a master. The Judiciary must be purged of the enemies of democracy. The big problem is that with the current control of all three arms of government by the Executive, what is the chance that one who does not pay the piper call the tune?

Calling for the resignation of INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu might not offer a solution. Tinubu will appoint another criminal to favour the APC at the polls.

There has to be a collective boycott for this brilliant points Mr. Dino raised to come to fruition. Remember that the rest of Africa is looking up to Nigeria and so these over-indulging selfish corruption must come to its end forced by the people.

Our elections must be free and fair for Nigeria to develop. I do not care about Dino or any loser as a person. All I want is Nigerians to stand up and hold INEC responsible for all the wrongs that transpired during presidential and the just conducted off-cycle elections in the three states; Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi. Two wrongs don't make a right. Allowing these political partiies to be settling scores on turn by turn basis is not in the best interest of Nigeria. Somewhere, I would think the ruling party president with political will, and the good people of such ruling party, opposition parties, and Nigerian people must come together and flush out the present bad eggs in INEC or INEC completely. Otherwise, the bedrock of our democracy will be destroyed going by what is happening.

Dino Maleye should have given me credit for this as I advised him on Twitter to do this. Anyways , any opposition thinking of winning any major future election is a foolish opposition were the sitting APC govt determines the INEC chairman , RECs, INEC officers and CJN who appoints judges to trial election petitions. Strikes, protests etc will not work in situations like this as the ruling party will blame any economic downturn on the strikes and protests . The solution is for all opposition parties (PDP, LP, NNPP, SDP etc) to pull-out all their elected candidates from all positions and boycott all elections until the electoral act is reformed .
