good to see that im not the only one playing from the shadow realm. last several games feels like i always 10 kilometers away from tenpai, and when i want to push the first tile i draw is instant ron. the despair is real.

My husband is also highly skilled at Mario kart! He was in the top 100 players in the country when it was newish on the Wii 😂 kind of scary to play against someone of that caliber

It is 100% on brand for Yu to be bad at werewolf. (One night or otherwise) One Night is double-plus hard because there is so little information to use logically. A lot more reading people, going off of hunches, and just taking guesses. The game is more logically playable if you do multiple games with the same people (Easier to detect behavior patterns, and able to tell when people are acting out of character). I am not a mahjong expert so I'm not sure how much it matters, but I think that will be an interesting skill to see yu_song develop when he gets to the point where he has to play the person behind the tiles more. As in determining when someone is prone to pushing, folding, etc. Probably not untill he gets to Saint, but I can not wait for the "Learns to Soul Read" character arc.

I'm really enjoying your videos and I feel I'm learning from them (specially defense, I'm too risky). I'm curious, how do you tell that a tile is dangerous? I try to see your train of thought when watching your videos, but sometimes I cannot see why you consider a tile dangerous.

This is a good question but a hard one to answer! An easy example is if someone calls riichi, then the dora tile becomes extremely dangerous, because we know they're in tenpai and ready to win off of any given tile. Plus, we don't want to give them more value, and it's likely that they constructed their hand so they can accept the dora. Another example is if the dora is the 8 of bamboo, the 5 of bamboo is also dangerous! People are going to want to have 6 & 7 of bamboo in their hands so they can accept the dora. But it doesn't have to just be valuable tiles. For example if I want to throw a 1 of bamboo after someone calls riichi, but there's no 2's or 3's of bamboo in the discards, then the 1 becomes more "dangerous" to throw. It's really hard to quantify but playing a lot will get you that experience!

Yu Song! I love that you’re good at mariokart! That game was my childhood. But if you want to be good at rock climbing go to the gym! There’s some of the best gyms in the country all over LA. Climbing is my favorite thing in the world it’s so much fun

Also I mean this with the best intentions, at 14:00 ish minutes you have three double sided waits and you need a pair. You drew the seven of bamboo which you could make your pair and break up that shape by discarding the six of bamboo. You then have the eight of bamboo and north wind to discard and you still have three double sided waits but now you have the pair already so it’s perfect 2 away from tenpai (confirmed pinfu). I’m not 100% sure I’m right but I thought I’d point it out in case you find it helpful. Sorry for writing a book I love your content as always! ❤

you missing out on that ez riichi ippatsu in east 1 hurt me ;w; it wasnt a bad move thou! its generally better not to bet everything in east 1 coulda have gotten bad luck and dealt into a baiman which wouldve been way worse than getting a simple riichi ippatsu hand

I think you over-value sanshoku and half-outside. They're nice bonuses to have if it happens but too hard to build for the few points it gives, and are almost never worth sacrificing tile efficiency. Great game all around.
