I am so sorry. It's been 24 years and I still miss my horse. Your tears remind me of my own. I had 3 days of hoping his renal failure would reverse and they are still the worst 3 days of my life. My heart goes out to you..Hugs from Florida.

my heart goes out to you for this tragedy. I lost my beautiful Tennessee walker in 2009 the same way. he was rolling back and forth trying to scratch his back and then about 15 minutes later he went down and was stumbling around. I told my wife to call the veterinarian and ran out there the vet was there in half an hour and it was too late. there was a surgical table at a private ranch but there was not enough time to even get him there. so we had to let him go. he was a great horse and I still miss him.

I'm so sorry, it's so very hard to lose a much loved friend (I've been there too, sudden colic with my much loved old mare, we've just passed the 2 year anniversary). Please don't apologise for shedding a tear over him (I shed a tear watching the video and I'm just a follower), it's very brave of you to create this touching and beautiful tribute to him. What a wonderful time you had together over the years, the love you have for him shines through when you speak about him. Make sure you look after yourself and give yourself time to grieve. I hope you can find comfort knowing you did the very best for him 🤍.

The same thing happened to my best horse ever. Its been years and it still hurts because he was so special. I didn't get to hold his head as he was euthanized because his colon ruptured as they were surgically untwisting the intestines. He was only 5 years old. I wish the best on your recovery.

I am so sorry for your loss. Last year, I had to put down my sweet 31 year old Freya. I miss her, but am comforted that the vet laid her down in the sweet green grass with the sun on her coat and my son and I stroking and talking her until the end. It is all we can do when their time has come.

The hugeness of the hole some horses leave in our hearts when we lose them feels like it can never be filled. This is not true because they leave us with so many wonderful memories that bring tears when the hurt is fresh that slowly turn into smiles as time passes and we remember their greatness and the privilege we had of knowing them.

Your video just popped up on my feed. I didn’t know you or your beloved Titan. I’m so sorry for your loss. Many of us know this kind of loss, and it really hurts very deeply. Many horses will preform, but, I could tell he was happy to do what you asked of him and he did it beautifully. He looked like he genuinely enjoyed himself. My condolences. The closest I’ve come to a real horse, was Silver, of the Lone Ranger. Every Wednesday night I listened to the story on radio. BUT Silver miraculously slept on the end of my bed. Somehow I felt your pain, and love you so much for sharing.

I feel for you as back in the 1990s I had to put my beautiful young boy, an Appaloosa (he was 5 or 6, I'd had him since he was 2) down due to cancer after a couple of surgeries failed to cure him. I haven't had a horse since then.

This is never a easy desition no matter what animal . The auther of all creatures great and small disgribed his first job with s horse . It was what your horse had .but the horse he came too had been suffering for along time and he told the manager ehat needed to be done wouldn't do it . He went back to his car . Thought a minute . Went back and put the poor thing down .They did a autopsy and he had a twisted gut . There is nothing yhat can be done . The horse you love is safe now, but you are left with loss and tears. Hang onto those good memories, your love for him will get you thru the grieving process. I woke up sad because today is the 2 year anniversary of the death of my large companion parrot. We were together for almost 30 years. Watching your video helped release my sadness and instead remember the love. My heart is with you....

Not a horse, but last month I had to say goodbye to my cat of almost 20 years. Almost half my life. I was there when we had her seizure event, which was scary and unexpected, then she went quietly down hill. I was with her for the next, the last, 12 hours. Took her to the vet, brought her home. They weren't quite sure what happened, but that there wasn't alot that could humanely be done. I am glad I was with her. She wasn't herself, staring blindly, ears forward and immobile, walking in circles into things and not stopping or turning. She stayed stiller and more relaxed as long as I held her. I quickly realized this wasn't going away and it was time. Waited for the mobile vet to open and held her in a towel while we waited. I don't think she was in pain. Stroked her in the mobile, stroked her while they did it. I'm not sure how it could have been gentler. When I went to pick up her ashes, I hadn't realized they had done a fur clipping, certificate, and a paw print box and a plaque on her ash box, bot boxes in cloth bags. Oh I was bawling when I looked took everything out. She liked hunting pens and jungle balls, we were bonded, she wasn't the same with anyone else. The last time I saw my brother alive, she meowed at him and asked to be picked up by him, which I don't remember her doing to anyone else. I think she knew there was something going on with him. It was a rough 12 months.... I remember at our dad's viewing he leaned down and kissed him goodbye. So that's what I did with my kit.

I'm not going to give platitudes and say it will get better but I have found with my furry kids who have passed that pain transmutes, moving from the extreme ache and sadness into the beloved memories rising to the surface, versus my tears. Im so sorry this happened, there is nothing worse than a colicing horse. Its a terrible situation and im sorry it ended so badly...you made the right decision. I had something similar happen with a horse i adored and he was young..4 years old. Im so happy you had so many wonderful years with uour Titan.

I am so sorry for your loss of Beastie. It is never easy letting them go, but just know that you did right by him and he is no longer suffering. That was the BEST gift you could give him. I actually had the same (almost exact) situation happen to my 17yo Welsh Pony x TB on February 25, 2024. Was fine at night check and found her severely colicing early the next morning. Luckily, we were able to quickly transport her to an equine surgical clinic just 10 minutes down the road. She did undergo surgery- which luckily went well. It's such as scary feeling when it is so sudden like that. I keep looking back at what I might have done wrong or could have done different. But really, sometimes things just happen for no real reason (as with anything with horses) and it is our job as horse owners to be their advocate and step in to make the hard decisions for them. ❤All the best.
