The only thing I miss from CarPlay is the maps. In complicated junctions, roads, roundabouts, here in the uk, I find Apple Maps is more useful.

Tesla Apple Shortcuts 🙌

One thing that I never see in EV car reviews is comparing the mobile phone app ( iPhone in my case ). With my Tesla I feel that I have moved on from an old Nokia to a smartphone, I'd never go back and if I'd ever consider a non-Tesla EV the first thing I would want to know is how smart the app and the software is. I wish some popular RU-vidr that cares about EV's would do a comparison between the best EV's in relation to how smart they are. I have a feeling the reason it's never mentioned is because no other EV can compete with Tesla but I'd like to know for sure.
@chillfluencer
@chillfluencer Год назад
So you want a comparison of processing power and software potency between all the BEVs on the market. Don't know about the software - but regarding processing power NIO and XPENG are way ahead of Tesla.
@synthmaker
@synthmaker Год назад
@@chillfluencer Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure what you mean by processing power. My question is in relation to user experience, similar to when we transitioned from old type Nokia phones to iPhone and Android. If I bought a NIO or XPENG would I experience the same smart features of a Tesla? I have no idea what the NIO or XPENG app is like, I also wasn't aware of all the hundreds of really smart useful features my Tesla has until after I bought it and that's after watching many reviews on RU-vid. Ideally I'd like a comparison from someone that has owned both Tesla and one of the others. I'm surprised how this isn't the most important factor when comparing. I feel that I was just lucky.

true, the phone app alone is worth getting a tesla, it is unbelievable how bad the others are, its a nightmare.

Skip to 2:55 to start the video. The beginning is just complete filler. Really can sum up this video in one sentence. Tesla now has given the ability for users to write macros.. meaning that ability to specify actions on certain conditions. Not sure why this video refers to shortcuts, they have been part of the app for many yearly

While some of these new abilities sound good, it’s nothing special when you consider that ICE vehicles have these for a long time, my 2018 BMW X1 has the heat and cool ability, lock/unlock flash lights, open tailgate all from the app, that’s over 5 years old now.

Does your bmw have sentry mode? Do either of them have the ability to tighten the seatbelts slowly or rapidly in the event of a crash? By the way, what is the crash rating on the two cars you’re talking about I had a BM trouble you before. Lexus LC 500 was twice the car of any BMW that I have a owned. I bet your BMW doesn’t even have remote start. I guarantee it doesn’t have a dog mode. If it doesn’t have remote start, how can you cool down or heat up your vehicle before entering?
@WEZ4136
@WEZ4136 Год назад
@@royphillips7644 wow you sound angry mate. My bmw does actually have remote start, it was an option I ticked, hence being able to heat or cool the inside, dog mode to me is about as useful as cat mode as I have neither, even if I did I certainly wouldn’t leave my dog in a car on a hot day. In a crash I really don’t care how tight the seatbelt goes just as long as it actually,goes. The car was a 5 star euro NCAP car when new but that makes no difference as NCAP keep changing the goalposts, but that doesn’t mean the car is less safe now than when it was brand new and no in the more than 5 years I’ve had the bmw it’s never had a single fault, not even popped a bulb or blown a fuse, it’s been the most fault free car I have ever owned and my new car in September has a lot to live up to. I’ve owned Japanese cars, french cars, German cars and for me the best and most reliable have always been the German cars, the others maybe easier or cheaper to fix but smashing 100k mile a year up and down motorways the German ones just seem to carry on faultless like they were designed to do just that. Thankfully I don’t do that kind of mileage anymore and the German cars still drive without issues, my next car will be the new Ford Kuga FHEV 2.5, let’s see if I get one that likes to catch fire, could do with a bit of excitement 😂

I think macros and shortcuts are very helpful, IF they work reliably, and can be invoked by voice as well as manually. So far, this looks promising. Going beyond the original design limits is a way to customize your car and make the driving experience more convenient. I’ve been musing about this sort of thing and, in time, I will probably explore it for fun. Unfortuantely, Apple shortcuts have been somewhat uninspiring and limited in capability, but maybe that is changing now? Time for another look.

If Tesla gets FSB, there should be a rental option based on usage, with a monthly charge or something like that. A Huge upfront purchase seems so illogical. People like me who are retired and bike more than they drive are not going to purchase big upfront expense. Tesla or someone needs to make an enclosed motorcycle like vehicle that is inexpensive, goes like 150 miles with fast charge and is very efficient like an Aptera but is cheaper to make, but drives like a motorcycle but has much better crash protection and is adaptable to FSB.

May be it is just me, but why do I even need a smart phone to run my car? I do not have a smart phone now and don't plan on getting one. When I operate a car I just want to get in and drive to where I am going. For some of us, a lot more than people think, we don't need apps and all the techno stuff in a car. Besides it would lower the cost of a car to not have techno things in it.
@whodatcatt

We’ll aren’t you the outlier! I’m sure there’s plenty of used cars that will always be available for you.
@TB-up4xi
@TB-up4xi Год назад
The answer is you don't (need to use a smartphone) , you can use your car perfectly well with the supplied Tesla "Keys", you can also get a traditional key fob from the Tesla store if you wish. You can use your Tesla like any traditional ICE car, get in and go, with the exception of not needing to visit a petrol station, in fact you are far more likely to have a full car ready to go than a traditional ICE car with a 24/7/365 filling station at your home. Tesla aren't interested in putting things into cars nobody values - it there was no demand for the techno stuff the techno stuff would not be there.

Why do you need the internet? Yet, here you are. Magazines, landline phones, wrist watches, paper maps, handheld calculators, the postal service, portable radios, TVs, movie theaters and personal checks for paying bills still exist. 120 years ago many people probably wondered why they would ever need a car. Do you like electronic fuel injection, or would you prefer an old carburetor in your vehicle?
@dvader3263
@dvader3263 Год назад
@@TB-up4xiYou can also use a key card kept in your wallet to open your Tesla, turn it on and drive.
