To retain moisture avoid shampoos with sulfates, dyes, fragrance. After rinsing thoroughly towel dry hair to dampness. A moisturizer can be applied to the hair tip ends and worked back toward the scalp. After a final rinse and towel drying to dampness; seal the still moist hair with a light oil from end tips to scalp.
My childhood was shower caps and getting my hair washed about once a month. It would'nt grow! Handling my hair I realized how thirsty it is. The more water it gets the healthier it is and faster it grows.

Yes!! You have to learn how to detangle it, wash it and retain the prefect moisturize balance and you won the key to long thick 4C hair. No tight styles like tiny twists or cornrows. I can’t even pull all my hair into one bun - too heavy. No combs, finger detangle and a specific brush. Big loose twist always, use a blower on the roots (it could stay damn up to a week) and you can scalp issues.
I honestly would love to wash my hair daily cos any time i sweat its the first place that suffers making it get dirty easily but i don't have time hopefully i would be able to create more time for the two weeks pattern
Please what was the reason your hair wasn't retaining moisture? 🙏🏾🙏🏾 Is it because your hair is low porosity and the moisture doesn't penetrate and therefore evaporates? Or You have high porosity and the moisture leaves as easily as it enters? 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I’m going 3 months without washing my hair for the first time. I’m trying long term protective styles. Been natural for 6 years it’s the only thing I haven’t tried for hair growth 😂
I think you should take her advice. Unless you’re the kind of person who would also happily tell people that you haven’t washed your face in three months. Your scalp is also skin.
@@eyekandy3000 lol nah sis I’ve been natural for almost a decade I’ve done weekly washes, biweekly washes, tri weekly washes, monthly washes. I’m taking care of my scalp using anti fungal products. I’m just experimenting my hair was waist length until I cut some because of my ends. So I’m trying long term protective styles now because I’ve been listening to the natural girlies telling me wash my hair frequently so I wanna see if this 3 month experiment is worth it bc it’s the only thing I haven’t tried ya know? I have the same concerns like how is my scalp going to survive 😂 I won’t know until less I try so after three months if it’s trash then I’ll go back to biweekly bc that wasn’t too bad

I used to get my hair braided and kept the braids in for 3 months wouldn't wash it until I took them out, I went swimming and everything..... my hair even the hair on the nape of my neck was down my back. Black people have different experiences and it produces different results. Some of us can go long without washing it due to our protective hairstyles. You don't need to tell anyone how often you wash you hair, just do what works for you and your goals.
Okay, now I can finally explain to my fellow 1A white girls why we can wash our hair everyday... It being straight means it's less brittle and holds moisture more efficiently.
@vivaviva9953 I have coily hair and I like having coily hair. Having it straight would defeat the purpose of having coils. And washing once a week still isn't an option
@@blessedcocoa5729 Every two weeks is fine💜💜(& every four weeks for protective styles etc💜💜) Unfortunately any longer than that - your scalp sheds so many skin cells that you get buildup & dandruff - & it can get a bit unnecessary💜💜(& if you exercise/sweat a lot etc - it can get kind of nasty in there)🤭💜🙏🏻💜🇬🇧💜
