I had X5.5 and I returned it because it didn't work for me. I currently keep newport2 and squareback2 instead because they are easier controlling distances. When I need a mallet putter I'm using odyssey 7 putter.
Phantom X is a great putter, but nothing beats the feel off of the insert. When struck in the middle, it feels like butter, but plenty of feedback when you miss it off the heel or toe. Best distance control I've ever had in a putter!
Thanks for showing the top view, hardly anyone does that! Everyone shows the bottom which is not that helpful in showing the view we all see while putting.
@@drewfortsongolf5529 nice… I tested the 5.5 and the 5 out and couldn’t really tell THAT much of a difference. May bite the bullet and actually get a fitting.
Hey drew, this is honestly the best explanation of putting stroke / putters I have seen yet in the sense that I had really no direction on what putter caters to what type of stroke. Amazing stuff. Question, how would I test what kind of putting stroke I have? I feel like I would need more toe flow but I have no idea really. Help!
I would suggest finding a straight line on the ground and hovering your putter over that straight line and then take a putting stroke. If you notice that your stroke goes inside the line on the way back and then back inside the line on the way through then toe hang would be best 👍🏼
I’m curious on what weights you have in your Newport? The Phantom comes with 10g which I thought was too light and I switched them to 20g’s. The weights make a big difference in roll and control. - thanks
I actually had 15g in the Newport and the Phantom had 10gs I also felt that was way too light so swapped them out and helped a lot on the distance control
I just went in for a putter fitting and assumed I was a blade guy. I never liked mallets. Tried just about every Scotty there was. You name it, I tried it. I putt with the phantom 7.5 35” and loved it right away. Did my rounds with the other putters and it always came back to this phantom 7.5. Absolutely love the putter and never thought I would. Get a fitting! Thanks for the video! Have you stuck with your Phantom??
Love the videos. Watching them has motivated me to get back on the course after 3-4 years away. Played 2 out of the last 4 days. Now to improve my short game and lower that score.
No such thing as a straight back straight through stroke unless you manipulate the putter during the stroke. There are lots of degrees of toe hang - could be 10 degrees, 45, 70 or even 90. I find 1/4 toe hang works best. Face balanced? That encourages a pull stroke for me. No good.
@@joshtomlinson1727 I used face balanced putters for decades until I got a LAB Directed Force, lie angled balanced one, and now the Mezz. Now, I will never use anything different. LOL This video will not likely change your mind, however, it certainly demonstrates that face balancing is not advantageous. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZayLXumWkJQ.html
