At the 3.5 level, I love that third shot drop. But I know one level up, many will leap over the kitchen and use an Ernie.

Tanner, i was sending your video out to seem of my friends. Then, one of them (Neal Bott) said, "too funny, that guy plays with David Salvagi." LOL. I didn't know you were local. dude, keep up the good work !!! you have a great formula and on screen presence. plus, you talk "mechanics" clearly, which most are incapable of doing with such clarity.

As an ex-table tennis player, I have a great backhand, including a backhand roll (for when I can take the 3rd shot drop from the air), and developed an excellent two-handed rip for when I have to allow the 3rd shot to bounce. It's fantastic going middle, but I have to improve it to go down the line, probably by being extra patient to allow the ball to travel closer to my body before ripping it. I just might be a 4.0 at this point. Thanks Tanner. Your videos are super useful!

Tanner I agree with your stance on 1-handed vs 2-handed BH off the bounce that others seem to be disagreeing with. I think the missing piece is the fact that you can’t get that same “scooping” motion to generate topspin required for this shot with just one hand. It’ll most likely sail out or be easily attackable.
@ZacheyBYT
@ZacheyBYT 16 дней назад
One handers are useful all over the court and you can generate some crazy topspin with just one hand from the baseline and other areas, but I do think this specific shot requires the leverage of 2 hands

But often the drop to backhand doesn’t bounce high enough to “rip” it. I do agree, it’s probably my most missed shot, where I make mistakes errors …. A low slow pace drop to my backhand.

@@tanner.pickleball ya know I should use 2 hands to make sure I can lift it up and over the net. I might pop it too high but if so they still gotta win the point. No chance of winning if I hit it into the net. Looking forward to watching the match today!! Will it be on your youtube channel? if not, where? thx! and GOOD LUCK!

Dude may be awesome, but saying, "The only thing you can do..." is almost always false, in any setting. I, for example, often hit backhands just over the net to my opponent's backhand side. I'm not necessarily special or clever, I learned that from watching the top players.

@@tanner.pickleball Ed Ju made a great video on it about a month ago, and this is basically the way I hit mine. (although not as well as Nate does).
