AJ’s great. You can tell he’s good at golf but he’s naturally hilarious when he’s struggling. And he’s also very relatable. This is great content, keep it up.
I love AJ's attitude through it all. He obviously isn't playing as well as he wants, but respect to him because he plays on with a smile even though he knows he's going to be recorded publicly on YT.
@@KevinHoekman g-rat got much better because he's been doing pro training and series with Kwon. Before that he was a kind of average scratch golfer. Now he's a beast because he's locked in. Someone like that will always beat a RU-vid golfer. AJ is just fine, this is the worst I've ever seen him play and honestly he wasn't that bad he just made some miss swings and second guessed himself a lot, this course is extremely hard and not easy at all. To reference this, garrett just destroyed Kwon in a 1v1, that's how much garret has improved in such a short time.
@@natem1982 Very true. I think Garrett is one of the best non professional golfers on RU-vid. He may be the best amateur that has a channel. AJ is athletic, but needs to learn how to throttle back and manage a course. I know, I was like that until my 30's. When I started hitting irons at 80-90% and managing the course, I improved 10 shots and was able to shoot 70-75 every time.
AJ, I feel for ya bud. It's frustrating knowing that you're SO much better than you're delivering, and you have to fight the doubt and disgust at every turn. It will level off and you'll get hot again. Stay strong 💪
AJ - I'm gonna try to give my self better opportunities this 9.. cuts to him climbing out of the grand canyon trying to find his golf ball lol Story of my life
AJ and Garrett really are genuine human beings. It has been one of the more enjoyable series of matches I have seen on You Tube for a while. They are just having a good time, enjoying the natural, rough beauty around them and each other's company. Thanks for sharing these moments.
Garrett, if you see this, 2 things. 1st, classy move to let those guys keep their money for having you out on their course. I know you're getting paid for the YT content anyway, but tons of people wouldn't have done what you did. Love that. 2nd, since I grew up a Cardinals fan, AJ's dad was my literal hero for like a decade. It's SO amazing to see how cool his kid is, and how positive AJ can stay while going through such a tough round. He seems like a great friend, and so do you. Glad you guys have each other!
His drive has been on point. He’s not going OB or putting himself in a bad spot. I think that’s where he struggles the most. Good job garrett for learning your mistakes while playing
AJ was suffering, and to see how he took the PAIN, was amazing. I’m a +6 and this weekend, I could figure out any of my irons. Usually I adjust as I go. My driver helped me to #14, then that became the topper, and my irons the chucksters. Hit 75 last week and 85 this weekend. Love/Hate is so true. My advantage? I play mainly by myself, for the last 6 months because I was on midnights and my playing buddy was on days. This week, we are the same shift, and some trips “down the hill” into the greater Palm Springs area for primeur courses are in order. Right now the PGA WEST Complex is $40. Been in the desert for 17 years and every spring when the old duffers (snowbirds) leave, we get our courses back and t an affordable rate
thank you, Garret and AJ. for the comment about not needing driver on this course. Especially in tournaments. I played a tournament there a few years ago and only hit the d stick twice. so many forced layups to play the course strategically when taking altitude in affect. The most visually stunning course I've ever played. Solid track to end a series on! #6iisurfriend
20:38 man I feel that! I messed on a par 4 an got a 7 next hole was a par 3 an I stuck it to 15ft then drained the 1 put for a birdie and been itching to go out all morning lol
Garrett, you better play some other courses in NM!!!!! BLACK MESA is a challenging course you would like also Buffalo Thunder(27) both north of Santa Fe...........
AJ, I know that was probably the worst round of your life, but if It makes it any better I shot the best round of my life since I started golfing last year a few days ago with a 90, so your worst days are still way better than my best days.
