Won't Back Down! This song was stuck in my head, so on a whim I tried it out on the banjo and it worked surprisingly well! I think this is the third Tom Petty banjo cover I've done here; evidently his songs translate well to banjo.
Please excuse the sorry state of my hair here. I got glue in my hair (long story), and I think I've got the world's worst case of bedhead now. The had did not hide as much as I thought it would lol.
I'm in G tuning here. I also finally got a decent mic for outdoor recording! It came with a little wind shield thingy, so hopefully I can get a good sound at exciting locations like the beach that I've been wanting to try! Very grateful for this new gear!

Banjo pickers seem to be genuine people. They are just who they are. Nothing more, nothing less. That was also the perfect description of my husband. He was a banjo picker. Stay genuine Phoebe only I do not believe you could be anything other than just who you are.

This made my night, made me really happy. They sing this at University of Florida where Tom Petty was from. I “dropped out” for a while but this makes me want to go back and resume classes. You covered the song beautifully, you really conveyed the spirit and the message behind the lyrics and played it so freely with such confidence. You definitely stood your ground. 🪕🪕🪕

You have a foxtail fern! I have two of them, named Aspar and Gus (since they're also known as asparagus ferns), that I picked up looking sad and cold in the sunless back of a grocery store in rural Texas a decade ago. They're still hanging in there today! I always notice them in other people's gardens.

That's a great story, and I love it, but I have to admit the first thing that popped into my mind was the movie "The Lonely Guy" starring banjo-picking great Steve Martin. I saw Steve in a small venue in the early '70s before he became famous while he was still performing standup with his banjo.

had a dream a few weeks ago that Doc Watson had done a bluegrass arrangement of Breakdown and tried to write it up for guitar when I woke up but it didn't turn out all that good

This song, and pretty much all of TPs music, have given me so manny good times with friends, so much musical "space" for reflection when im alone. -i didn't get introduced to TPs music before "in to the great wide open" i was 9yo at the time, it hit me like a ton of bricks packed with rocknroll love❤❤❤ -wont back down, has helped me to do exactly that at times, sometimes beneficial, others it might have been better to just call it😂 -im here still! Never back down chloe, hit them with banjo instead❤ (banjo tunes that is xD)

Bravo. (My favourite on that album was "Face in the Crowd", co-written with Jeff Lynne. With a change of tempo, perhaps, could it be arranged for banjo? Nah, best left as it is, the lonesome ballad.)
