#med (Music.Every.Day)
Day 314 of my daily video posting project. I have been working on this project since November 2023--learning and posting a video of new piano music every day!
This video is "I Won't Dance" from the movie "Roberta". This piece was written by Jimmy McHugh, Dorothy Fields, Jerome Kern, Oscar Hammerstein II, and Otto Harbach. This jazz arrangement can be found in Jazz Piano Solos: Late Night Jazz from Hal Leonard.
That's a long list of songwriting credits--and a lot of famous people too!! If you get a chance, look up this video and you'll find an amazing dance sequence featuring Fred Astaire. It is magical!
I love how ironic this song is--because despite the title, when you hear this swinging melody, you will definitely want to dance! I tried to channel Fred Astaire's feet while playing this--it's a dance for your fingers!
Tune in tomorrow for more of my #music.every.day experiment!

Out of curiosity, what piano do you use?

I have a Yamaha Portable Grand DGX-660 that I do all my recordings on now. It has a really nice touch (very close to a real piano), and the sounds are pretty amazing too! Earlier videos were on a Technics Piano that was a really high-end model--it lasted for over 20 years and I loved it.

@@elenafortinmusic Ooh. I was looking at the DGX 670 for myself. I play on a Casio CTS1 right now, and was looking at upgrading once I outgrown it. This is a great reference point for me!

@@ed4d195 I have been really happy with the Yamaha DGX660--My best advice is to go and play them though! Yamaha, for me, had the best touch. There are some really high end keyboards out there that just don't feel right. The advantage the Yamaha has is that they have all this experience in making "real" acoustic pianos and they've put that knowledge into their digitals. I got the 660 secondhand through Facebook marketplace.
