Matt Easton actually tested the pilum and it was specially designed to pierce right through shields and during this time most armies would be lightly armored with large shields so the pilum was devastating

8:26 you can see you CAN hire them at your flag and not just your base that’s what those little “huts” (as I call them) are for (I found out that he found out later in the vid)

I miss this game...

i think the best update could be different generals of the same hero , and you could appoint men to them for tactical purposes .Moreover, (even though this seems too much )the army could have a morale rating which would determine when would the men loose heart and flee .And infinite men could be added but the men would have to be supplied , their need would be subtracted from the gold possessed by the player.
