I wish apple made a fitness tracker instead of a smart watch. I don’t need or want 70% of the features or the big screen. Imagine a Apple tracker that could last a week or so, would be so nice.
Same. I want a tracker to Be quiet and small. It should Just track, Not more. At the Moment i have Fitbit Charge 5 and it still works with a cracked Display but it dies Not react as Well as before. I Tested the versa 4 but .... Its too big 🤷
Apple should at least make displaying your daily steps and steps per hour as a built in complication. I find it silly that such simple things are not included.
Agree! I had a lot of types from Fitbit because of exactly this.. and apple watches.. and I would love a more minimalist fitness tracker from apple, with long lasting battery 🤩
Thanks for timestamping, I wish you tested the accuracy of the wearables. Even just testing accuracy of pulse and spo2. I did take my Garmin venu 2 to 2 drs (GP and cardiologist) and they did test it on/for me against their equipment (it is accurate within 2-3 pts).
Wow! This video was absolutely packed with great information. I was skeptical of the clickbait title and thumbnail and assumed it would be surface level but this was an amazing coverage of so many different devices and apps. Very, very high quality. Thank you! Subbed.
Back when they were still being made, the Zeo was the best ever. It actually strapped to the head and watched the brainwaves to see what state of sleep you were in. I wish they hadn't gone out of business because it was incredibly useful.
With Oura ring you can actually use someone else's charger. You just have to play around with the ring placement on the charger (I used my wife's charger even though my ring has a significantly larger circumference).
I got the Ultra about a week ago, based off of your content. I am also in love lol. One cool feature is when you’re sick it notices the rise in heart rate and notifies you.. It’s kinda cool it knows you’re sick lol
Is there any Apple Watch App that specifically uses the well-measured data recorded by the watch (not gathering themselves) and puts it into a nice interface with sleep and readiness score?
Should've also included the Galaxy Watch from Samsung! Their sleep tracking is a lot more robust than Apple's and free unlike Google's. Snore detection is definitely a stand out feature. Worth a look IMO!
They also have a dedicated sleep coaching program and also a BIA sensor for body fat and skeletal muscles but sadly only for people who use Samsung phones.
@@ililili6350 i think the BIA is available for every android. It has been incredibly useful though. Its just that mr Video Channel owner here is a apple fanboy as he says all the time.. Imo the watch 5 beats it in so many ways tho
@@DriveByReviews hmmmm. Yes, cuz of battery. However i now traded in for the watch 6 classic. And it just looks much more premium and the bezel is awesome. Also, the watch 6classic has 0.5gb more ram which makes it much more fluent. The watch 5 pro has the weird non bezel bezel. The sleep tracking isnt much improved, as you get wear os 4 on galaxy watch 4 too. However with the longer lasting battery, You can track sleep and hole day without having to charge more then once every 1.5 days.
I've been using the Withings sleep mat for a few years, and (for me) it's the best sleep tracker I've ever tried. I don't like wearing anything on my wrists while sleeping, so it's great. Data syncs from the Withings app to Apple Health without issue, and I hear that it works with Google Fit as well. YMMV, but that'd be my recommendation. :)
I agree, I’m surprised he didn’t include it, especially since he’s supported Withings so much in past videos. Hopefully if he revisits this topic he’ll put it head to head with the others for comparison
The speaker discusses their experience with 22 different sleep trackers over the years, categorizing them into non-wearables, wearables, less favored ones, and apps. They highlight various devices, sharing insights on each, including pros and cons. The speaker emphasizes the importance of understanding sleep patterns for overall well-being. In the end, they recommend the WHOOP and Oura Ring as their top choices for sleep tracking, while also acknowledging the Apple Watch for its versatility and Garmin for Android users. They share additional apps that complement sleep tracking.
Nice overview! I love the Fenix7 best wearable I've owned. I just hope Garmin makes non watch device like whoop that you can wear more easily to sleep with.
I wish there was an easy way to check the accuracy of these devices. From what I’ve seen, all of these wearables are in the range of 70-75% accurate when it comes to tracking sleep cycles which isn’t all that impressive. But most are accurate at tracking sleep totals. 🤷🏻♂️ Great overview and great video. 🙌
Honestly same. Like a lot of people want to take health into their own hands because going to the doctors is too slow and too expensive. And so I wanna be able to accurately measure whether or not I'm waking through the night, and naps and to have some kind of data with it to determine if it's good sleep or not.
What really sucks, is that the Amazon Halo View is actually insanely accurate, especially with sleep tracking and cycles, but now they've announced they're discontinuing it for some stupid reason and I have no idea what to get instead
There's no easy way to reliably/accurately track sleep phases other than EEG. These devices essentially just try to guess your sleep phase based on indirect things like your movement or heart rate. 75% accuracy is pretty good. Some can reach 90%, but many are also lower than 70%. Until there's some kind of consumer EEG device, this is basically as good as it gets. Some small tweaks can happen as algorithms are improved, but don't expect miracles.
Great video, man. I’ve been dying to get an Oura ring, but so many people on Reddit say that the battery after a little while gets pretty bad. How’s your ring holding up?
I would not recommend Oura ring. After using Oura ring for more than 2 years I don’t think that this device is good value for your money. The battery lifespan is ~ 1 year, after my first ring battery died and after innumerable emails with Oura poor customer support team I got a replacement. ~1 year later the same problem happened and they do not provide any guarantee for it. If you consider the total cost and the membership on top you can get much better metrics and insights from many latest generation devices in the market and with better accuracy
Solid Video! if I would get another wearable I think it would be the Oura Ring. Mainly to give my wrist some time to breathe lol. I have the worst tan line!
Hey Shervin! Love the content. Thanks! I'd love for you to make a video about an app for general health and well-being tracking and advice about live style changes. That would be awesome! :D
Just took my Galaxy watch 6 classic back to Samsung for a refund. They were unable to deliver a reliable sleep tracking facility from the watch after 2 attempts of setting up the watch in the shop. It was only registering 4 hours on average every night when I was sleeping for 7 - 8. I came from a Hawuai Watch 2 which was great with sleep tracking. Reply
All watches are horrible at this. Any sleep tracker not attached to your head measuring the actual brain waves in your brain aren't measuring sleep, they are just guessing using proxy data that is not reliable... All non medical sleep trackers not using nodes physically attached to the head are pure scams.
Hi Great video, I bought the gen 1 oura ring, it was great gave me all the data i needed without the subscription fee, Now the Body temp does not giver me data by itself i have to hunt for it in the trend page, I will not pay a subscription fee on top of the ring price, Now for whoop I will not pay for their subscription fee either. Great video, I get some sleep data and other health data from my Garmin hope they do not go to the subscription model.
I love my Apple watch but it doesn't track my sleep every night. Actually, it rarely does anymore. I've reset, restarted, re-synced and everything that Apple has recommended. I've also uninstalled the App and reinstalled it. Any recommendations from anyone?
My friend’s Apple Watch told her that she had symptoms of sleep apnea and to check with her doctor. Sure enough, after a sleep study, she was diagnosed with sleep apnea
Apple Watches are usually among the most accurate trackers (like 90% accurate), but it's very unlikely you actually don't get any deep sleep. They're still consumer devices that only measure sleep stages indirectly, so inaccuracies will happen. Go to an actual sleep lab with medical equipment if you have any reasons to be concerned about your sleep (as in if you actually have health issues related to your sleep).
Bro, what about the Fitbit? 😢 You didn’t try that one? I was hoping to see it in this video to see if the Fitbit sense 2 sleep tracker and smart alarm feature work well
Hi. I would like to have an alarm clock that wakes me up in the "right" moment. That's it. What's your advice? (I have Android and an old Pebble Time watch that works wonderfully well, but two times a year a bug makes it to restart and cause it doesn't wake me up)
Did you mention anything about sleep cycle because I don’t remember? Did those product you were viewed, as a feature that let you know information about your sleep cycles? How many of them you had at night and so on?
Do any of these record sleep start and end times well? That and nighty temperature cycle are most useful for circadian rhythm. The sleep stages stuff isn't as important.
"I've used 22 different sleep trackers and I'll share my thoughts on each one...but I won't be talking about data accuracy." Well, I mean, at least you say it up front to save people time.
I want an app, not a wearable and/or a wearable that I can use without Bluetooth and then take it off, connect it to my phone or PC wireless or cabled (without wearing it) to get the data.
So you recommend all the trackers that have monthly subscriptions or are ridiculously expensive. why are YT channels so bad at recommending good stuff these days
Thanks for the video, very informative! I am really interested in buying Dreem2 to monitor my sleep for many reasons ... I have tried to contact the company, but unfortunately they don't sell them anymore (only for health and research establishments). Do you have any advice on how to get one of their devices? Thanks again
Hi, the strange thing is I have seen them as being sold in india, it is actually the dreem website with a dot india subdomain. I looked at it and it seems for some reason onlyh available on the Indian subcontinent. I would have loved to get one and was going to a year ago, till I found the same thing.
@@kekemiranda1094 I have never thought about it, I would have loved to but when they were available here in Australia, but I dont know what the go was it the indian version?
Hey Shervin, I’m currently using a gen 2 Oura ring that has been loaned to me to try and it’s been great. However, I find wearing my garmin more comfortable compared to the ring, but it’s rubbish at sleep tracking compared to the oura. The ring will detect naps automatically but my garmin requires you to manually place it in an out of sleep mode. This is where my interest in the Whoop comes in. Does the Whoop 4.0 detect sleep activity as easily as the Oura ring? Does the 4.0 also pick up the awake periods too, as I find that the oura ring is really good at doing this if my kids wake me in the middle of the night for 20mins. Sometimes my garmin won’t even realise I’m moving when it’s strapped snuggly to my wrist. Thanks for taking the time to help! 😊
Did you get the whoop? Garmin sleep options makes me nuts. If you read in bed it'll think you are sleeping and you can't erase it, it won't redo sleep for the day. And naps aren't caught. Otherwise it's much better than fitbit.
11:43 - 7 € a month for couple of years isnt lil more money to me... I cant decide between circular ring and oura ring but the oura membership turns me off from purchase so i will most likely go with the circular ring.
Great video Shervin, I must ask though, why do you have 3 different Oura rings? Is there some sort of practical benefit to switching between them or something?
@@ShervinShares yeah there’s Apple watch, garmin and other wearables as well. I personally use Apple watch SE and I started focusing on my health after watching your videos. Keep up the great work!
I have a Garmin, they are not accurate. If accurate I sleep 4 hours a day, which is not possible. I will sleep 4 hours, get up for 1 hour and then go back down for 2 -4 hours and that's what it's not tracking. I like the app and the watch but it's not accurate.
Can you please test out non-consumer tech as well please? I'm curious about the accuracy of medical devices for sleep tracking! I'm sure it would be a good RU-vid video too!
I love my Oura ring too! So much comfortable than smart watches/bands. Plus it tackles a more hollistic and wellness approach compared to other smart devices, specifically the Apple watch which is better for activity. Hope you get protection for your ring from OSleeve too, to take care of your investment.
@@ShervinShares No worries! I'm really glad I could help others by just sharing my thoughts about it. Also, Osleeve is really a game changer for me since it protects my Oura a lot more than I could ever imagine
@@shayverde Oura or any ring seems like a problem for people whose fingers may contact tools like cameras or nail guns, to name a few. The band seems more practical in many regards.
