i20, Creta, Verna, Elantra, Venue share same engine block (U2) and they all have same Air Conditioning Unit. The same compressor works for all the cars, with a different fan etc.
My car developed a problem with its Air Conditioner (AC) and the cooling started dropping slowly, as if the gas is leaking. It turned out to be not so simple problem as it may sound.
Its a common problem in i20 and Creta models, and the solution is simple but very tricky. This video is all about awareness of this problem so that the hassle and costs can be avoided.
Do leave your feedback regarding the same.
PS: A lot of people ask for error codes for FATC. For your convenience, here they are:
00 = Normal
11 = In-car temparature sensor open
12 = In-car temparature sensor short
13 = Ambient temparature sensor open
14 = Ambient temparature sensor short
17 = Evaporator temparature sensor open
18 = Evaporator temparature sensor short
19 = Temparature control actuator feed back open
20 = Temparature control actuatore failure
21 = Mode Control actuator open
21 = Mode control actuator short
22 = Mode control actuator failure
25 = Intake potentiometer open
25 = Intake potentiometer short
26 = Intake potentiometer failure
43 = Defog door potentionmeter open or short
44 = Defog door potentionmeter error
45 = APT CAN Signal Error
47 = RPM CAN Signal Error
48 = Vehicle speed CAN Signal Error
49 = Engine coolant temprature CAN Signal Error
50 = Cluster ionizer fault
71 = ECV Fault

Thank you so much for this video ,i hd been really struggling to fix my i20 AC issues for last 3-years. Everyone has same answer "Compressor is dead you need to change" costing almost 20k-24k. Even local mechanics denies to changes the valve...i just changed myself and went for gas refile.. My AC started working and no trips ... i drove 110 KM and trust me ..no trips.every minute cabin was nicely cool and gentle . Outside climate 40+. A very very imp point mentioned in video, please careful once they fill AC Gas...cooling coil must b vacuumed at first. Thank you very much Pulkit for this video.. :)

Was facing the same issue..but your video helped me a lot...I went to Hyundai showroom..they told me that compressor has been failed and the cost will be 25000 with GST and labour charges ..I was in shocked like you..so I get back from there...and started to find AC related video on RU-vid..I watched your video and started to watch and it was useful and then I started to feel relaxed...then I went again to Hyundai showroom and asked them to change the compressor valve only..they changed the valve and get the positive result..and cost was 5500 with GST and labour charge. I have facing same problem in my i20 90000 km Hyundai service centre told me to replace compressor After watching u r video am forcing those people to replace valve but it's not replace he teaching other things finally he said valve not available After 2-३ day I am purchasing this valve another service center and replace Then my ac working back Thank you so much sir to providing. I faced the same issue, but Hyundai Service Technician replaced the valve and AC was back and running. The cost of Valve change and gas filling came to 5700INR inclusive of everything. I totally agree how the service stations do all the fake talks I have faced the same issues earlier as well. Depends on the service stations. but very informative video.

Sir ji mere I20 Ka bhi same problem hua tha, aap Ka story aur Mera story bilkul same, bas itna farak hai ki pahele mene Jin 2 doctor ke pass gaya unse diagnosis karbaya aur price pucha, tab mujhe pata chal gaya tha ki ye valve Ka problem hai,phir Mai hundai walo se kaha ki mujhe valve change aur gas filling karna hai, total 4 to 5 k kharcha Aaya tha.. thank you bahut badhia se explain karne ke liye...

Bro very helpful video I am going to comment after my i20 gets serviced with valve….. Even my i20 same issue every technician said to change total AC unit which is costing around 35k ….. after checking with different technicians one guy said about valve…. Now I am going to change that one valve let’s hope for best.. One thing I can tell don’t just blindly go with technicians words ….. my AC getting cut off after 10 mins….. every part in AC is fine …. No leakage …. If you are getting cooling that means there is no leakage this is for sure … all you need to know that what exactly the problem is. …. So don’t just blindly fill the AC gas,checking the pressure n all …. Directly check with valve….

You have shared very important video. Good information . Presently i am also facing problem with my elite i 20 A.C. I also visited Hyundai service center but after observing that their me mechanics even don't know how to check the system. Just they were trying trial and error method. Hence I asked them to stop the work and came back. Even after spending 6 hrs they could not detect fault.

I have posted the comment regarding my experience about service station of Hyundai. I was facing problem with blower speed. Hyundai persons could not detect it and then after suggested me to replace FOTC module it is AC control unit and cost of replacement was told near about 11500 /- . I denied and came back. Next day I undergone owners manual in detail and noticed that simply a single fuse of 10 amps was missing from fuse panel i replaced it and now every thing of AC control working perfectly. Think other wise i would have to spend 11500 . How we can trust Hyundai service centre. Note:- I am electrical engineer and hence could understand the things . What about other customers ?

A very informative and worthy video. All car service center across the world any brand any nation is there only to rip the customer's pocket. Out of those its only the local garages that still do the same work at less than half the price as compared to an authorised service center. Even in my Hyundai car I am facing the similar problem.

I own Elite i20 2014 model and AC isn`t working since yesterday. Mechanic says to change the valve as elite i20 has got this problem and they replace nearly 8 valves for i20 in a month. Saw a lot of videos in youtube as i was so confused what to do and where to go as i was afraid of the expenses & no results. Now i think Value is the culprit here, i will be getting it replaced for now and update you with the result.

Actually in new models of Hyundai , there is valve system.but in old models there are no any value which can be replaced so I decided to change my compressor which cost was 14680 rs. Please insure that your condenser is ok. There is no any leakage in cooking pipe lines. And also.please check that your compressor shouldn't release black carbon.

Sir I have 2008 verna crdi. I have the same problem where there is no cooling. If i switch on the ac only air comes out like a fan. I have the changed the compressor from a local mechani. Me to jabse i10 Magna li h kappa engine wali tabse iske ac se satisfy nai hu. Cooling hai but Rajasthan ki garmi me dopar me car thandi hi nai kar pata. Rat me chill krdeta hai but dopar me to origin se destination pahuch jau but car cool nai hoti. Filter bhi clean karliya, ac ki gas bhi ok hai. 1st service mein mene complaint kari thi but unhone bola ye itna hi chill krega jabki usi garmi me Alto k10, swift ka ac cool kardeta hai

Absolutely useful video and made me realize the exact problem of AC in my i20 Active, and that too during lockdown period. To my surprise, I had faced similar issues but got it fixed last summer from hyundai workshop, didnt really see what went wrong. So I just went through those old parts that usually company guys give you back and bingo... I found same Valve control 97674-2S000 changed. I hope it's the same issue this time also. Just wanted your opinion how frequently this valve is going to breakdown as this is second time in 6 months.

I have faced the same issue with my Elite i20 and had got it checked at Hyundai Service Station the mechanic advised me to get the valve changed and told me that this is problem which can occur anytime. it can work fine for 1 year or more than that, there is no defined life but 90% on the cases get resolved by replacing the valve.

Sir thank you so much..please do reply i m facing the same problem with my i20elite n i have found that there is no gas present and also .....my compressor fan is not working...is there any connection with the gas... mechanic told me that there is a pressure switch which only operate through gas

Well explained and simple presentation . My santro is going through poor cooling and trying figure out the actual cause . Huyndai ,as usual , want to replace compressor . My local mechanic gen servicing to fix it ( rs 2200) . But still have same issue . I think it is low in gas but local shop do not have a working pressure gauge . I am trying locate a good guy in bangalore . If you know some one , please suggest

Today really I faced the same situation in Aditya hyundai service center at Bhubaneswar. I spent almost 12 thousand rupees after that they told to change the compressor whose cost is 28000 rupees. But I denied & come back & did it in out side. They cheated me, when I checked the removed parts in out side were almost ok condition.

Mere pass i20 diesel 2009 asta model hai.2 saal pahle mere sath yahi problem hua tha.Dash board khol kar andar se cooling coil nikali, jo damage thi,wo change kar li.AC filter bhi change kiya. Cooling thik hai, lekin night me aur din me temp 30 degree ke andar me ac perfect cooling deta hai. above 30 degree ac bahut cum cooling karta hai. Kya problem ho sakta hai. AC ka fuse,gas thik hai.Condenser bhi thik hai. Samaj me nahi aa raha hai. Aap ko kya lagta hai. Pls reply.

i20 Crdi ACC.. On long drive (200+ kms) AC stops cooling and No air throw (No air coming out of vent).. but once I put AC to high (Heater mode for couple of mins) and then put temp down AC starts working again.. what could be the problem?

I have noticed reduced cooling in my 2013 i20 Petrol 1.4 too but it's mostly noticeable at idle, at idle it feels like ac is not working at all, at higher rpms AC seems fine, not great, but fine. Is the compressor same as it is on diesel, will it support this valve replacement. I'm willing to give this a shot but most mechanics tell me that this fix is basically useless and I quote "yeh solution kargar nahi hai" and they are very hesitant to carry on this work(maybe to inflate bill idk), shown to 2-3 good mechanics too, they say it needs complete replacement since there is back pressure or something at idle. What should I do??

Hello sir. I have a Verna 1.6 CRDI 2018 and I faced a similar issue few months ago. The mechanics quoted a very huge amount to get the compressor changed and few said that it was the gas leakage. But luckily I happened to stop by a very good car AC mechanic who figured out the issue. The rats had eaten away the wires near the condenser. Got it repaired in a very short span of time and for a very little cost. Your videos are very informative and can refer in case I face such a problem in the future. Can you also make a video on selecting the right tyres for a car? Thank you!

But indeed a costly one :)) Nevertheless my car is nearing the end cycle of tyres and I have to buy a set of tyres. Will make a video on my experience. I changed the tyres on an another car recently but it was unplanned. So couldn’t log anything. Will surely do. From a customer point of view. Regards

Hi Pulkit Boss, Great to watch your video and get to know things. Just if you can help - I have Verna 2012, 1.6 Diesel model with Ac tripping problem specially when the car is moving (typically RPM >=1200 or so) i.e. majority of times it works on idle. Can you tell me if the compressor in 2012 model would be clutch less and/or what can be done.

Pulkit ji I have a i20.. the problem with my AC is that it works fine for about 2 hrs (long drive), after that AC stops cooling and no air comes from the vent, only the blower noise can be heard. If i give a rest to my car for half an hour then AC start working fine again. I also feel cold water drops at an interval when I keep my left foot on footrest. I would like to know your take on this.

Bhai low pressure race dene pr agar 40-30 pr aata h to samjh lijiye k comp ekdum sahi chal rha h or agar wo race dene pr 50-60-70 is order me upar jata h to samjh lijiye comp chala gaya.... Valve ko hum is tarha check karenge ki pehle low pressure me gauge lagayenge tab gauge me 150 psi pressure show hoga fir comp start karenge agar gauge 150 pr he rhe or na upar jaye na neeche aaye to samjh lijiyega k valve kharab ho gaya h use badalna padega....
