Lucky to find an instructor who accepts that courtesy of the Canadian navy I have one bad knee, and one knee that now sets off alarms at airport security, and seiza is one of those things which is relegated to my distant past.
Mugai Ryu taught in Europe and here in UK has been adapted for old geezers like me that are unable to adopt seiza, both kata and Go Rei. Greetings from England and appreciation for your excellent instructional presentations on YT!
Great video. I like the exercise starting at 4:22 for strengthening, and you don't even have to physically touch the kneecap to a hard floor if you don't want to. Can be done 90% with a pause/light contact or whatever. I like how you say the important thing is to practice rather than trying to do everything.
Hi Sensei Tom Thanks for the video, it was very educational for me. Thank you for your way of telling and teaching, I appreciate it. Best regards from Denmark, Copenhagen
Just ordered my first beginner’s Iaito from Tozando which was costly. Unable to afford the Iaido Gi uniform at this point. So, I was wondering if there was a way to practice with Iaito wearing a Karate Gi until I am able to afford proper uniform?
I keep getting blisters and swelling. I've never had bad knees so much as "weak knees " I'm a beginner, started March 2023 1 session of seitei kata 1 and my knees get blisters and "bumps" I just ordered my knee pads from tozando but is there anything else that will help prevent the blistering, scabbing and swelling bumps?
@TheBudoAcademy 🤣 I probably should but I'm sure it's improper technique and conditioning. I will see a physician if it gets bad. & It only happens when I'm doing seitei katas. Thank you anyways. I appreciate your time. Love the channel.
