I really like Tyler's diplomatic answer. So many times I've seen actors (of all shows) mock fanfiction and other fanworks, and as a fan it always upsets me. I love how Tyler said that that's our thing and how he didn't mock us, just encouraged us to do our own thing.
Tyler: "I don't want to let fanfiction influence my character..." Also Tyler: "The kid i hired to play my son is literally the lovechild of Derek and Stiles...have fun!"
"wait... i thought we deleted those." "I have a groin injury, this isnt just me playing with my penis." Daniel is amazing 😂😂 and now we know tyler secretly reads sterek fanfics😂❤
Daniel: "i have a groin injury so that's not me just playing with my penis" That was probably the point where i was like..... yup he's a total weirdo! But i love him for being one 😂😂😂😂
Светлана Аржанова He really had an injury from playing soccer ( a few weeks later he had to go to the hospital because of it. JR posted about it when he visited Daniel there) And he unconsciously kept rubbing with his hand sometimes where it hurt. He probably suddenly noticed that if someone didn't know that he was injured, it would look a bit strange when watching the panel, because the groin injury is obviously near his private parts. And if someone watches from far behind you can't really distinguish where is hand exactly is. So he cleared it up so that noone got the wrong impression ;)
thats not the right definition ugh make it seems like it's only porn and it isnt like that, there are so many talented fans, dont reduce them to "boy on boy" and Tyler gave such a good answer bless him
Thank you. Finally someone else who realises that fanfiction doesn't equal slash. I liked his answer as well. And I find it weird how disappointed those fans always sound when they don't get the answer they want to hear.
"It's boy and boy together" well that's not definition of fanfiction. Fanfiction doesn't equal slash fiction. But whatever, I still love the video, especially reaction of Tyler and Ian when Daniel asked what fanfiction is omg that was hilarious
0:27 highly incorrect. she is talking about yaoi. that's different. i mean u can interpret yaoi into fanfiction, but fanfiction is highly more broad than that alone. fanfiction is fiction about characters or settings from an original work of fiction, created by fans of that work rather than by its creator. Fans may maintain the creator's characters and settings or add their own.
Any time a fan brings up fanfiction directly to an actor I just facepalm. Even when I was fourteen and used to write a lot of m/m fic, I wasn't dumb enough to think 'oh hey I should tell the actors I bet they'll think it's cool!'. Like yeah sure, some straight guy is gonna be really stoked that you write stories about him fucking other guys. Or even if it's not sexual, people don't want to know that you write stories about them. Please please PLEASE will these little girls understand that and stop bringing up Sterek, Destiel and whatever to the actors themselves. These are straight white guys who are older than you (especially Jensen and Jared, they're a whole generation older than you kids) and they simply do not have the same values that you have - they don't think gay fanfiction is a good thing. Just keep it to yourselves. You're only setting yourselves up for disappointment otherwise.
I agree. I don't get why these fans keep asking about slash fanfiction and shipping over and over again. It feels like they need some sort of approval or encouragement from the actors and seem to completely ignore the fact that the actors often get uncomfortable with these questions, and after some time, they even get annoyed with them. I remember when Jensen Ackles refused to answer a similar question (since it was the first question asked during his and Jared's panel) and how these so-called fans got all riled up because of it and even started calling him rude and homophobic and whatnot. Just because he didn't feel like answering that question for the umpteenth time. If someone enjoys slash fanfiction, good for them but there's no need to keep bringing that topic up during Q & As etc. Because some people actually prefer other kinds of fanfiction, or are not into fanfiction at all.
I agree so much. I'm not saying that they are homophobic, I'm not either and I do read m/m but some grown-up actor is not going to like (and they don't have to) fanfiction just because a fan wrote it. They are adults in their 20's or 30's or something so they probably can't take the show itself very seriously even though it's their job. So just enjoy it as it is and don't try to bring the actors into it. You can see or imagine the characters however you like but no person would want to be called something they are not just because you like it. I know I wouldn't.
Same. I find that so embarrassing i cringe every time a fan mentions it. But I find it even worse when the ff is about the real person. Character ff okay fine, but you just don't write ff about the real actors or musicians. That's so weird
You're right but what does the actors being straight white guys have anything to do with it? It's wrong to any other actor or actress, no matter sex, orientation or race
@@sarahz5941 What they were getting at was defining someone as something they're not and I think they were directing this specifically to people who write m/m and then directing this view towards actors.
