@@jansojele289 Mark David Chapman killed John Lennon (a British musician known for his atheism, performative activism and that goddamned 'Imagine' song) in order to emulate his literary hero Holden Caulfield (the angsty, mixed-up teenage protagonist of The Catcher in the Rye who is obsessed with superficiality and 'phoniness' in society because he finds it hard to relate to other people). Duncan's using the incident of an American killing a Brit to call both the killer and the student a "loser", and considering both Duncan and Lennon have ties to Liverpool, of course that's the reference he goes for.

It's probably my favorite line in the show. And it only came about because they forgot to get a shot of his shoe actually untied. A mistake led to such brilliance haha

wael ag he was also on TDS in New York, community shot in LA. Kind of impossible for him to be a regular. He had LWT by the last couple of seasons of community I think so he was even busier.

It’s cuz Last Week Tonight began in 2014 and he got busy

Season 3 overlapped with him being the host of The Daily Show while Stewart was away. The new showrunners of Season 4 didn't want him back. He was asked to come back to fill the void left by Glover leaving in Season 5. But he started Last Week Tonight while Season 6 was in production.

They wanted that, but he was preoccupied during season 3 and 6. In 4 the showrunners just didn't ask him.

Nah, him being used less regularly made him better - you could appreciate his character more. If his character had been in every episode he wouldn’t be as hilarious as he is.

@@Emilia-mq3xm I think it's because all three; Cheers, Mash, and Faulty Towers are TV shows. When Abed overheard Cheers he assumed they were talking about TV shows so he responded with Mash to which Duncan responded with Faulty Towers. I haven't watched a single one of these so I assume they were trying to one up another by saying that their show was better.
