We often think of the work of Christ in terms of His finished work on the cross and forget about His present priestly ministry on our behalf. Christ was not only faithful in securing our salvation through His death and resurrection but He is also faithful in bestowing upon us the benefits of our salvation. As High Priest, Jesus both died for His people and continually prays for them. In this session, Dr. Ian Hamilton concentrates on the ongoing work of Christ in applying the benefits of redemption and interceding on behalf of His people.

My dear Brother Ian, I love your Title of this message or study sermon ! I think that you could join to your texts one of the greatest in my opinion the most truth filled chapter in the Old Testament that you should have used or communicate Leviticus 16 ! This chapter 16, gives to your study sermon the real meat to the bones of your message ! As you know I am sure that you know the Old Testament is the Type to the New Testament Anti-Type of His heavenly Sanctuary prayer that is mentioned in John 17 ! The Book of Leviticus with the the Book of Daniel, goes hand in hand with The Book of Hebrews and the last book of the Book of Revelation should all be studied as one message study ! Only when all these 4 books are studied together, then Gods people will know and understand the present day ministry of Our Lord Jesus Christ as our Great High Priest and His work in the New Jerusalem Temple is all about making us now and kingdom of King/ Priests ! These are the people of God today who make up the 144,000 who are these Kings/ Priests in Revelation chapter 7 and those who are mentioned in Revelation 14 ! Jesus our Great High Priest, work is to make us now a kingdom of king / Priests and when this is done through both the work of the Holy Spirit in us and Our Lords closing High Priestly ministry in the New Jerusalem sanctuary in heaven ! This will be the final fruits of His Heavenly ministry. This is where you brother Ian should have presented ! This is the Present Truth for us today ! Not about the 4th Century church fathers if the Roman Catholic church ! Is my pray, Amen

So much of this sophistry depends on the theology of Saul aka Paul who never physically knew Jesus. The whole concept of Jesus being a sacrifice seems barbaric and contradicts what He taught. All too much of what is being preached is based on misunderstanding what Jesus taught and Paul's spurious religion of Christianity. That religion has become so popular because it offers so much to those who believe; but need to do so little to make themselves acceptable to the Supreme Lord. .

Can I ask what you understand by the cross? What was the point of the cross if it wasn't Christ offering himself up as a sacrifice? And what of Isaiah 53? A clearer OT passage on the penal substitutionary atonement of Christ you won't find. I should add that your comment about us making ourselves acceptable to God is a tell tale sign that you don't believe in grace, but you're trying to curry God's favour yourself. Good luck with that...whatever you do will be insufficient.

@@davidhamilton1981 Religions are man made and so they choose to believe whatever the minds of their founders and leaders have conjured up. With Christianity there are something like forty thousand different denominations in the world. The basis of the religion of Christianity owes much to Emperor Constantine who in the fourth century wanted to found a universal religion which incorporated elements of pagan religions, myths and redacted teachings attributed to Paul and believers in Jesus. Constantine had a political motive to bring about harmony of disparate religious beliefs.

We have the letters of Paul that pre-date Constantine. What you are arguing is pure fantasy.

@@2Nickcdj The NT consists of documents that were written many decades after Jesus' incarnation. About 25% was apparently authored by Paul, who only knew Jesus vicariously. There were about seventy gospels available to the early church of which only four were chosen. Even they were abridged. Other believers in Jesus were deemed to be heretical by the Council of Nicaea The orthodoxy of Christianity has limited belief Jesus to what suited their agenda. This is plain history

Mike, Have you ever read Kruger’s “Heresy of Orthodoxy?” Your thoughts about the origins of the Christian Faith seem to be based in outdated early modern German scholarship. Kruger interacts with and dispels these assertions in that book.
