Somebody gifted me with the cassette version of this album, I wore that cassette out real quick! I quit having that problem when I found the album on CD! I wound up with this album, Modern Day Folk Lore, and the Green Grass album, all because somebody gave me that cassette. To me his first 2 albums were great! and at that time he was a cut above Johnny Lang and Kenny Wayne, this guy played a saw on the Green Grass album! I love good Blues and fortunately I'm still finding some, but this guy will always hold a place in my heart for those first 2 albums, and I still tout him when the opportunity presents itself. Thank You Sir Ian!
He could have been an all time great in American music. He changed his style and moved to Seattle. Once he changed to folk music, in MY opinion he threw his career away as it relates to selling lots of records. If he just wants to play what is in his heart, then he did the right thing, I guess.
My opinion Ian had a choice sign on the dotted line and become a superstar and be bought and owned or be free from the industry. This album he gives a lot of references to this struggle, no doubt in my mind is has the talent.
