Needed to be edited, of course. A player who played Regidra had a controversial ceremony gesture after the end of the game. So he was disqualified and the match result changed.
Tbf someone literally flipped off the audience at a previous world championship, and nothing happened, I don't see why that'd go unpunished, but this is somehow unacceptable
@@gomeska It's more about the integrity of the game and them retroactively changing the outcome of a match. He should've never been allowed to progress because he didn't earn it.
Dude just add a disclaimer at the beggining so everybody knows why happened what happened and doesnt happen again otherwise this upload feels malicious
This match never happened. This must be a video from the other universe that was created from the bird that went in to the hydrogen collider back in ‘09.
Y'all gotta accept. Once a DQ happened it's an automatic 0-2 for the round, things can get Retracted, and Ian failed to be a kind and a respected player in front of the entire, literal World. Pokémon made the right decision. Any other competitors would do the same
He didn't get DQ'd, he got a match loss which created this whole stupid situation...and there's already precedent of people being DQ'd and not having their opponent proceed to the next round after a loss, so for TPCI to do this was quite possibly the worst decision they could've made...all they had to do to make it right was DQ ian, give Fernando top 4 prizing and let jesse parker proceed to the finals
Friendly reminder that getting issued a game loss between rounds officially counts towards the next match, not the last match, so the controversial game loss Ian Robb took after this SHOULD have counted for his match against Jesse Parker, meaning the REAL finals should have seen Jesse Parker VS Seinosuke Shiokawa. They can't even enforce their own rules correctly, which makes this all seem kind of suspicious. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they updated the rules to allow scummy things like this in the future, though let's be real, they'd probably do it again regardless.
Not really. Match result isn't determined until the match slip is signed. He did the gesture before signing the match slip, so the Match Loss was correctly applied to the Top 8 match.
@@vesperianstar the inciting incident is when he made the gesture. The infraction was then issued at a later time, after the match was over and after his player interview and the match slip being signed.
@@boxkid759 I believe you're grasping at straws here, dude. Even if you concede the point, what does that accomplish? Having someone get a bye on semis?
He did. And then his opponent got disqualified. This shit was in the document he signed to get into the tournament, it was spelled out clear as day this would happen. It's streamed to kids all over the world, and Nintendo doesn't want the fallout because someone decided to be a dick to thier competitor.
Ian wiped the floor with Fernando, yet it was Cifuentes that was allowed to move on. Top 4 matchup should've been Jesse Parker Vs. Ian Robb. This was a BS DEI win.
I only see people crying for a DQ that never happened! Ian was not disqualified, he was given a lost match, and honestly Ian should have known better, that gesture is disrespectful to his opponent and the spectators.
People believing Ian was "robbed" just for a "fist bump" is just so dishonest. The clip is saved, everyone who watched it knows what actually happended
Two things: before the match on the stream, he talked about the dices rolls needed to go his way. So there is legitimacy to the idea he didn’t intend/mean it to be an offensive gesture. Second thing is that the bigger problem was that the match loss should have been in the following match as this match was officially over when the hand motion was done. But instead, the Pokémon company went against their own rules and gave the gameloss retroactvily in top 8, leading to a player who had already lost to continue into the semi finals. This was followed with a problem in the semi final, Jesse Parker was mentally and psykologicly prepared to play against Regidrago and not thorns. So when Jessie was baited and switched in the last minute, he was mentally and psykologicly not there to play against thorns. Leading to a more problematic semi finals.
@@adamkarlb6329 Way to go to try to justify the unjustifiable, that takes actual effort so... you win the mental gymnastics medal of the week 🏅!!! Grats (not)
The dumb part is that he was given a game loss and not a dq. There would've been so much less discourse if they dq'd him, neither moved on, and Jesse got to move on (Like it should've been)
@pokker21 Tbh what should've happened is A. They give him a warning or B. They count that loss as a loss for the next match and not the one he rightfully won so Jesse could move on. They literally ruled this in the worst way possible
He was awarded a match loss, got to get a top 8 finish and prizing. I'd have chosen the same thing if presented with the same options. Match loss but keep prizing, or DQ and lose everything
@@hockeytonesOrrr.... They could've just given him a warning and threatened a dq if he did it again to ensure that he could move on while not doing that again
@@louiepikmin3184 why would they have to go soft on him? Its the fucking world championship, not your local tournament, plus its a multi-streamed event being watched by kids all around the globe. Sucks to be Ian but the punishment is well deserved.
Editing out the incident to pretend like it never happened when the entire community knows better is pathetic. You're trying to preserve the game's image and integrity through cover-ups and deceit. Everyone knows this World's was a sham.
The whole point of disqualifying him over a gesture is they didn't want him doing that on a show for kids. Why would they then show it? If they were fine with people seeing it, it wouldn't have been a disqualification to begin with.
The sad part is even though I know that the rules are rules and what Ian Robb did was bad. I still will never consider Fernando a champion. He did not prove to me with his gameplay that he was deserving of the title. He lost fair and square and chose the wrong deck for the tournament. It should have been as simple as Ian Robb advancing and losing instantly. Then there is no question about integrity because we would not know how Ian Robb's future matches would have played out. This would have given the same punishment and preserved the integrity of what is supposed to be the biggest tournament of the year. I just know from now on if my opponent does slight BMs now, that I am going to use it to my full advantage because TPCI would rather protect their own image instead of preserving the integrity of tournaments. Sucks because I am usually a very fair person who doesn't mind if my opponent BMs or celebrates.
This is called a 'neuralyzer'. A gift from some friends from out of town. The red eye here isolates and measures the electronic impulses in your brains. More specifically, the ones for memory. You will now forget this match ever happened. --- TPCI
Tbh what should've happened is neither should've advanced because one person lost 2-0 and the other did a gesture that pokemon didn't like and thought was bad enough to give a game loss to. Jesse was the one who got robbed tbh
Alternate title: "World Champion" loses 2-0. Then TPCi gaslights everyone that he won 2-0 😂🤡. Inb4 the horde of Chilean children telling me to go cry more lol.
Actually read the rules when you sign up for a tournament, might cost you a the match otherwise. Though idk why you'd need to be directly told that the toy company streaming to children doesn't want you miming lewd gestures.
We're talking about the same company that had a manga where a pokemon disguised as a human literally gropes a minor. And there are tons of not kid friendly jokes in the anime and VG's
Yeah this should not have seen the light of day, how embarrassing for Pokémon. Everyone knows what happened and no amount of cover up will change that. Ian and Jesse Parker both were robbed. Fernando lost and should have integrity as a competitor to not accept a hand out win. The whole worlds is now a joke. You can do better Pokémon.
Fernando did not deserve to win world's, after getting clapped 2-0 by Ian. Pokemons decision to overturn the result of this top 8 match was stupid and uncalled for. Ian should have won world's, or at least made top 4.
@@LoyalistViral I have been a little bit more informed thanks to Team Fish Knuckles newest video. Seeing the gesture in action does look a little sus. But I'm also curious as to why Isaiah got in the highlight real for making the exact same gesture!
It has nothing to do with feelings. Behaving like an uneducated caveman should never be tolerated especially in a professional environment. If you want to behave like in the jungle, go and stay there. This is civilization.
@@gomeska pretty simple, You enjoy the tears of other people as long as they are not from your country. Pretty obvious from what you said Enjoying the suffering of others as long as they’re from another country/specific country , is racist.
Regardless of the choice the judges made to issue Ian a match loss of this round instead of the next, under the conditions they created, Fernando beat his last two opponents and thus won the title fair and square. Fernando did nothing wrong.
@@PikLockenah, Fernandez did play out the final 2 matches and won convincingly but the entire tournament integrity is compromised due to appalling tpci handling of the situation this high into the final stages of the tournament.
