Ian wanted to take the day off from custom car building and show his wife his appreciation for her by building a chair stand she has wanted for years to put in the back yard for when they star gaze at night. Today was the day and both Ian and Jamie would like to think its a success.

I think I understand the root pass cap pass process. What I don’t quite grasp is why a single weld won’t do the job. Is it because the gap between the pieces is too deep? And you’re right- we’ll watch anything you put out. There’s education and entertainment potential in all of it.

NICE! I have to switch-up now and then too. Do a little gardening, woodworking, house repair, the odd fabrication, etc. We have a chair like that we bought years ago. I hung it on our deck for a while. Take it inside with you, when you go in. Don't leave it out in the sun, it'll rot the macramé over time. Jamie, once you get in and hook your heels on the front, pull up on the wooden dowel and stretch out your legs. Then reach over your shoulder (or get Ian's help) and pull the back of the chair up and lay your head back into it. Have a nice nap. My wife used to do that. She is not as tall as you (about 5'4"), but I could do it and I'm about 5'9". Now I want to build a new hanger for ours. Hmmmm maybe ditch the old "iffy" wooden swing under the vine arbor... Great video, and yes, I'm one of those that could watch you work on anything. I'd watch a video of Jamie editing one of the videos. Heck, I watch some of those "neglected yard makeover" videos. LOL Have a good one!

I just made last week for our front porch I used 2 uprights and one across the top for two hanging chairs.. So you need another one for both of you to enjoy your time relaxing together...

Hey, its not all about cars, its about making (lots of) things in the garage/workshop. I am a workshop guy, I love being in the workshop (my wife doesn't) and so I love watching you guysI I watched you Ian when you were on your own and now with you and Jamie it is so much fun, I love you guys. OK, Im a Wisconsin boy who lives in Western Australia (40 yrs now), plenty of desert here, and sun, sun, sun, and a good tree for shade is super valuable, that tree you have by the house is magnificent.

Happy to see Ian getting to do something non-automotive. Count me in as someone who's sure they would enjoy watching him work on whatever his creative mind comes up with. I do guitar repair and some woodworking, but I used to watch FCG whenever I had access to it. I find what you two are doing with this RU-vid channel to be even more enjoyable to watch. Subscribed a few weeks ago and have gone thru the earlier episodes.

Love it, very cool! I have one of them, obviously a little different. A lady was going to scrap it, I bought it for 10 bucks. No wicker chair, just the frame. Took it home sanded it, put the hammer paint on it, and I made a 5ft.x3ft. Spiral wooden wind spinner! Good stuff!

Ian, you need to add a cup holder on the down tube (at the right height for the young lady). And maybe a small shelf or some such thing to hold whatever else she desires (sunglasses, phone, etc.)

That is super cool. Had a friend who cleaned up a bunch of chain before painting by dragging behind his motorcycle down a sandy road in west Texas, scrubbed the chain clean as new.

The first thing I built with my tube bender was a couple almost U bends that are the ends to a Hammock stand. All material used was leftovers from other projects, including the paint. That was 4 years ago, and the paint is starting to fade out. Portland must be kinder to Krylon than the Mojave. Cool little project video!

That was cool build! I love taking old stuff you have laying around and making it into something new. Take the skills you get from fabricating cars and make something cool and vice versa. I've been trying to convince my wife to let me build cool metal projects around the house. I think we're almost there....haha

I had a hammock years ago and the round O ring opened up on me as I was in the hammock. Boom! Down I went. Make sure the O ring is welded together.

You should make some plexiglass panels to strategically place around you to block wind. Kinda like a drum shield.

Love the chair! I made one similar and added a spring inline with the chain so you can sort of bounce as you dangle. Something super comforting about it. 🤟
