Ian Somerhalder is like the man that you would dream up. Hes sexy, humble, big hearted, intellectual, educated, caring and funny person and I hope one day to see him in more movies. Their just isn't a lot of celebrities like Ian in Hollywood that use their celebrity for good.
Maybe because he isn't in Hollywood, but New Orleans (where I grew up so I can tell you it's another world). He doesn't even like the word "celebrity". Why would anyone rich want to live in the subtropical climate of Southern Louisiana post-Katrina? Unless they are into charity.
He is a truly inspiring person. He seems so genuine which is rare for someone with his talent and looks. How Nina Dobrev could let man like him out of her life I will never understand...
I have so much respect for Ian it's not even just the fact that he's hot, I actually think he is a great human being that is doing so much for the world. I am so proud to be a fan of his.
Ladies...I just met him here in Toronto for Fan Expo and he is a DOLL !!! A beautiful man inside and out. And those eyes are incredible. So piercing and mesmerizing. What a sweetheart ! Love him even more. He is so affectionate, too.

I absolutely love this interview, it's so raw and honest. Love that it was so long and so many different things were discussed. I think many people just see him as this very good-looking actor, but he is so much more than that. He wants to make the world a better place and he uses his "celebrity status" to do that. He cares about people and animals. Notice when Larry asked him "Your house is on fire, what's the one thing you save?" and Ian said straight up "My animals" without even thinking about it? That's so me.
If people asked him more about interesting questions instead of about Delena and Damon and shit, this guy would have a lot more interesting things to tell us, to show us and to keep inspiring us, which is why I love him, because he is such an inspiration and he is trying to do something good with the "power" he is given by media, and I truly belive he is paving the road for a much brighter future, I wish more actors and actresses did things like this, I know there are a lot who do it of course but...we just need more people like him. Ian has one of the most amazing Energies I have ever seen with a celeb.. Of course he is easy on the eyes.. Wink, but he is a true amazing human being. He looks 100 times better in real life than what he looks in TVD. I really think Ian should star in something more realistic where he plays a strong intelligent character and retain his beautiful stubble look. Looking forward to V-Wars. I loved his answer when he said in an instant that he would save his animals if his house was on fire and his favourite vacation will be his house with Burboun, his dogs and his father. More than Damon, Ian will win you over.

He was asked how he was like Damon & he said a lot, & I thought Oh, so he thinks he's brilliant...then I saw this & thought, OK, he's brilliant...it's just so rare for a child star FROM SOUTHERN LA ( I know, I grew up there), to be so EDUCATED, unaffected by fame & so completely dedicated to using his voice for good.
He has just reaffirmed to me that he is truly unique human being of whom Nikki, his wife, is very fortunate to be married to. He seems to such an almost saint-like creature, with his love of mankind and animal kind and has now the ability to create his own Eden for God's creatures where practical. May he continue to be prosperous and so fulfil hi hearts desire for man and animal kind.

i hope he gets a good role when the vampire diaries is over. he deseves a more stable well written show. the show was great for the first few years but now its become silly.
I never got the age difference thing either. Of Elena & these 150 yr old vampires. Maybe her innocence is what attracts them? But she looks like Katherine, so that's either a bad memory or a do-over. Apparently the latter. I think Bonnie & Enzo have the purist love by far on the entire show. But Damon's love for Elena was touching. It was stupid she broke up with him then a few weeks later he gets stuck on the other side with Bonnie & she's screaming "Don't leave me!"....ugh, they just got back together. Immature. Or the writers had to have the Elena screaming scene....they shouldn't have had them break up over ? Something stupid in the 1st place....it makes no sense she blows him off, then is devasted not a week later? Big respect for Julie Plec though, I think she did even better with The Originals, Klaus & Cami worked for me & seeing Klaus's protective side for Cami really got me. It's like they intensified Damon & Elena...without the immaturity. I only watched b/c filmed in NOLA & I'm THAT homesick...but alas, it turned out to be Ga, where I live now. Atlanta New Orleans....so very different. There's no place like New Orleans.
