Ian deserves to be loved and appreciated by his parents. It's best to focus on Ian and do everything they can to make him happy and support him all the way. No need to be jealous of other kids or parents coz everyone is unique, special and beautiful in their own ways. Cheer up Ian and family.

They should not be jelous every child has their own phase of development. If they keep comparing they just get frustrated and may push the child harder.

No need for no one to be a genius, it's enough for them to lead a good life. Besides you can be faster than others in certain things or let us say in most things but that doesn't really mean much, specially in the age of computers and AI.. fast is not what we need but rather creative. And in order to be creative you need to be free, so all the "look how that child is doing" should really stop because it's unneeded negativity but most importantly it doesn't really makes sense since no one can ever share the same countless variables he/she goes through his/her entire life, if you want to compare yourself to someone be it you 1/2/3 year(s) before, in that case it would make more sense. And if, and only if you see that comparing yourself to someone else actually motivates you to work harder and you manage to regulate any negative emotions then go at it!

Yes definitely but Ian is very slow compared to the average child his age the doctor they went to even said that they have to reflect upon theirselves bd they as essentially the reason why

SK society (read capitalism) is set up based on comparison...exams; grading in schools; top universities versus other universities etc. so it's not surprising parents fall into the comparison trap. Heck, even parents compare their own children to each other!!!

I feel that they aren’t trying to come off as jealous. I think they really just realized they’re situation in a different light. I mean before they had thought they were raising their child right and doing okay then being told that there was something going on. I also feel that after being told that, they actually got to SEE it, you know. Before they had never really noticed but now that they’ve had a chance to actually see it they’re really shocked. Now that they’ve seen the difference, they understand the situation more; however, I do think they shouldn’t compare their child to other people’s children because some children, as said in many of the comments, just learn a lot quicker than other or have different learning development. I do hope that things become easier and they can get the help they seek and want for their child. I don’t think anything is too wrong. He does so well with letting them know his feelings with his actions but I do understand the importance of them wanting him to communicate.

My brother was like ian. My parents didn't realize the weight of the situation until my grandma started comparing him to my cousin. My grandma had tried hinting at the situation prior to that but they thought he was just different. She just used the comparison to show my parents that my brother was indeed quite far behind. It all turned out ok in the end though

There feeling reminds me back then when my son at the same age as Ian..could not say words and added to that that most people said my son had a sign of autism...feeling devastated knowing all that time that my son is in good condition...luckily his 3 now and he could write and read by himself and he can communicate now. Kids a vary each personality ....important thins is when you noticed something odd consult a doctor foe better understanding

He memories whole pages in way less of a time! I 20 can’t do that! So it takes time and just wait everything will be ok but DO PRACTICE with him

Babies develop language different, commonly kids younger than Ian would have began talking, but this could actually be him showing his skills, he is actually communicating in a different way, he is physically communicating, which is a development in language, if the mother & father continue to use what is commonly called Motherese aka Baby talk, using high pitched tone, slowed pace, repetition and drawing attention to the object you want them to repeat & name, he will eventually. And I say he is showing his skills, because if he is a quiet child now, he will mostly likely be the most talkative when older, because of how long he suppressed it. He does show signs of having desire to speak, but I think he is frustrated that he is struggling, maybe he is shy idk I haven’t met him in person, but do not worry, late linguistic development in children of Ian’s age is okay. Every child is different and will develop at different speeds, even if he doesn’t talk, it’s okay he will still be communicating, there is more than one way to talk. If you want to know more google CDS child driven speech IDS infant driven speech and ADS adult driven speech. And also motherese if you’re curious

Ian's parents should not stressed too much..A child is born with their own color..I have two boys, and I raise them the same..But one of my child needs speech therapy, while the other is talkative and singing all the time..I remember that I used to blame myself, because people scolded me for my child speech delay..But now I realize, that it's just because every children is different one another..Not because you are not a good parents..🤗

Because they recently got told their parenting method is not effective. Their kid doesn’t say any words and ignores them. They’re sort of feel guilty and jealous I guess

You can both do it to teach ian ...just play with him ... talk to him with action so he can understand you ... dont feel bad and its not your fault just make time to play with him ....just go for a walk near at your home . It can help also to have a play mate sometimes at your home or you can go to a group play ...

Baby Boy usual learn how to speak late. Give more time talking to him or every morning lied beside him and teach him to identify animals, shapes and colors. Buy a book with big pictures. Start teaching him by identifying 2 to 2 photos a day do it 2x a day while he’s still with you in bed and he is drinking his milk. That’s how i thought my son and how he learned at a very young agr of 15 months. Start by saying, this a cat or whatever animals is in the book., then tell him point where is the cat? Do it everyday and you will be surprised with Ian’s improvement each day. Don’t let him have his alone time always. Have time to Speak to him and set time for Ian to watch a tv program where could learn how to identify things, singing and other baby activity that is right for his age.. Thank you😊

They shouldn't be jealous..blah blah, but also maybe you should play a bit more with your child and be patient? Try that out for once.
@stewartlittle16
@stewartlittle16 3 года назад
The thing is they were patient with Ian. Their parenting method of teaching him was wrong. A doctor told them the reason why he isn't speaking is that they never gave him the chance to answer them. They would automatically assume what he wanted without asking him if that's what he wanted. And they didn't really know how to keep up with him learning how to speak like we just saw they would talk to him and he didn't want to answer them. So they left it alone and didn't try to get him to speak back.
@nicolekyoko5585
@nicolekyoko5585 3 года назад
@@stewartlittle16 mm, I agree with you on that, that their parenting technique was wrong. Though, they really don't play with him that much and they are constantly disappointed. Even if it is a small child he can feel it. It might demotivate him. Also, Since he got through these years without actually speaking, he doesn't really bother to change his ways now.
@stewartlittle16
@stewartlittle16 3 года назад
@@nicolekyoko5585 yeah the doctor told them it’s not impossible for them to fix it but they have to actually try to get him to talk. Like you said because he went so long without speaking it doesn’t even bother him.
