At Cork Station we see a steam-heated train arrive from Mallow. At the south end of the station 188 draws out the empty stock from the same train. The same train then shunts into the station.
The next train from Cobh enters the station as the passengers disembarking put up their umbrellas to protect themselves from the pouring rain. 146 runs through the station as the passengers make their way to the shelter of the overall roof. A locomotive is seen shunting in the yard and passes behing the signal box. 158 runs around its train ready to depart back to Cobh. A pair of locos is seen shunting in the yard as 158 continues to run around its train.
At Cobh station, the second man has an umbrella as he changes the points so as 166 can run around its train. On the same train, we enter Cork Station.
At Mallow Station we see a 200 class locomotive in the background as 165 goes to buffer up on to its train. From the train we see the junction for the line to Killarney and Tralee.
Back at Cork, we see 178 at the station and then later, back at Mallow, we see steam-heated stock in the platform. 170 runs around its train. A train from Dublin Heuston to Cork hauled by 071 arrives at the station and makes a connection with the next train for Tralee.
Seen from the train, we pass the signal box and enter Killarney Station then we see the same train reverse out of the station to take the line on to Tralee. A track machine 726 enters the sidings to the station then 200 class locomotive is seen arriving from Tralee and then reversing into the station with a train for Dublin Heuston.
Back at Cobh, once again we see a locomotive (166) running around its train and buffering up with a final view of a small craft passing on the river adjacent to the station.

I'm so glad you liked it! I miss those visits to Eire back when there was so much variety. I'm glad I had the sense to record as much as I could!

Another Cork gem John , know one or two faces there . It could be me getting on 170 at Cork , the putting of the grub bag in the back cab for Kerry and the dustcoat looks familiar. It's Denis Murphy on 166 in Cobh at the end.

Still can never understand re Killarney (a stub off the main line to Tralee) why that anomaly hasnt been previously sorted out. Such would reduce all that needing to shunt back and forth, each time (Killarney to Tralee and vice versa)...thus saving time and fuel..

Not really shunting, in railway operations sense, just a reversal. True when loco hauled, even more true with karts (DMUs) with a cab at both ends, and just walk through the train to change ends. Still far cheaper than buying the land to relocate the station. The gradient out of Killarney to Tralee is somewhat steep to locate a station on.

It's strange how the points for the run around were not controlled from the signal cabin

They might be "released" by the signalbox.
